Single generation of the Matiz, a small city car sold by Daewoo between 1998 and 2004. With only 3,50 m in length, the small Matiz offered practicality within a small, urban friendly footprint. Beginning in 2004 the Matiz was sold under the Chevrolet brand, though the car itself did not change.
Can technology help prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV), particularly in low- and middle-income countries? Increasingly, cell phones, cameras, crowd-sourcing, and mobile apps are being used in innovative ways to address GBV, but questions surrounding ethics, effectiveness, and practicality remain. The Interagency Gender Working Group, U. S. Agency for International Development, Woodrow Wilson Center, CARE, and Population Reference Bureau will host a panel discussion exploring the ethics around new technologies to combat GBV; how effective they are; and what some of the more practical and actionable ways forward might be.

Rapide is the name given to a previous incarnation of the 4-door concept.

“The Politics of Change in Palestine” discusses these changes. The book contradicts the prevalent myth that incompetent, corrupt, and uncompromising Palestinian decision-makers are responsible for the lasting stalemate in the Middle-East Peace Process. The book highlights recent political developments in Palestine that fundamentally redefine important parameters of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. These include the re-invention of Hamas, reforms within the Fatah movement, state-building efforts of the Palestinian Authority and the surge of non-violent resistance.

The GHL "HONEYBEE" is a small, two-man starfighter, commonly tasked to defend larger transport ships from pirates attacks.
Designed with the hallmark GHL low-cost and practicality, the HONEYBEE lacks the standard reinforced plexiglass cockpit, and instead of using expensive fire-control systems, a second crewman is squeezed in and acts as a tail-gunner.
It also lacks any kind of shields or reinforced plating, relying on its speed, small size and weight of numbers to overwhelm opponents.

The Leduc 0.21 was a research aircraft built in France in 1953 to refine the practicalities of ramjet propulsion. Initially proposed as the 0.20, it was essentially similar to its predecessor, the Leduc 0.10, but scaled up by around 30%, with tip tanks added to the wings. Again, it was not capable of take-off under its own power, and had to be carried aloft and released.
Two examples were built and completed a very detailed flight test program from 1953 to 1956 to develop automated, operationally viable throttle controls for the ramjet. This included a total of 284 free flights. Designed for subsonic speeds only, the 0.21 reached a top speed of Mach 0.95.

Seamus McKee, Chairperson of the conference made some concluding remarks before breaking for lunch. Business Rates Conference 2016, which was part of the Chambré Public Affairs âEye on the Hillâ series of policy events, provided participants with a unique insight into an important programme of reform. The conference offered context and analysis from the Minister, senior officials, sector leaders and noted experts, the conference is perfectly timed to inform responses to the consultation, which closes a fortnight later. On 26 October 2015, Finance Minister Arlene Foster launched a public consultation on a wide-ranging Review of Northern Ireland's Non-Domestic Rating System. The consultation asks questions that touch upon every sector in Northern Ireland, giving respondents the chance to provide imaginative suggestions to improve how revenue is raised locally. Key questions include whether the 100% exemption for charities should be maintained, and how the system could be changed to better suit the demands of local business. Because of the Departmentâs willingness to engage creatively with the business community and other stakeholders, this consultation represents a rare opportunity to influence major change. Business rating is a vital form of taxation, raising some £592m of revenue for regional and local Government in Northern Ireland. However, it is also a significant expense for the businesses that are the lifeblood of the local economy, and can act as a particular disincentive to smaller enterprises who want to invest and expand. Increasingly, cell phones, cameras, crowd-sourcing, and mobile apps are being used in innovative ways to address GBV, but questions surrounding ethics, effectiveness, and practicality remain. The Interagency Gender Working Group, U. S. Agency for International Development, Woodrow Wilson Center, CARE, and Population Reference Bureau will host a panel discussion exploring the ethics around new technologies to combat GBV; how effective they are; and what some of the more practical and actionable ways forward might be.

Description of work: I loved the location and feel of the Blue Bridge & began to strategize different ideas on what could successfully work on this venue. It was also important to me to keep an animal theme as I once again planning to partner with the HSWM.
I came up with the idea of monkeys hanging from the bridge. Upon my return, I started right away on the artwork and design, rendered it in CAD and created the first prototype in December 2010.
Each monkey is 4 1/2 feet tall, 2 feet wide and 6 inches deep and each weighs about 30 pounds. They are made of Steel and are designed to oxidize into a rich brown color.
As you can see from the mock up of the bridge, the monkeys will hang in groupings of two or three. A grouping of two will be about 9 feet long and three will be 13 1/2 feet long. They can hang from each others tails and some even hang upside down. They were specifically designed for the pedestrian bridge. The consultation asks questions that touch upon every sector in Northern Ireland, giving respondents the chance to provide imaginative suggestions to improve how revenue is raised locally. Key questions include whether the 100% exemption for charities should be maintained, and how the system could be changed to better suit the demands of local business. Because of the Departmentâs willingness to engage creatively with the business community and other stakeholders, this consultation represents a rare opportunity to influence major change. The actual strips of papyrus that I cut (by drawing the knife along the whole length of the stem, as the ones where I attempted to 'unroll' it were an unsatisfactory mess). While in Bahir Dar, with access to the plentiful papyrus supplies of Lake Tana, I took the opportunity to do a little bit of experimental investigation into the debate on how papyrus was manufactured. Specifically, I was interested in the practicalities of Hendricks' reconstruction of the method of papyrus manufacture by means of a 'peeling' or unrolling process, working the papyrus from the outside to the inside, all in one piece, which is then flattened in pressing. (see Hendricks, 'Pliny, Historia Naturalis XIII, 74-82 and the Manufacture of Papyrus' in Zeitschrift für Papyrologie und Epigraphik XXXVII (1980) 121--136). I cut my way through a dozen stalks, and while I very easily got a handle on creating usable segments by means of a kind of shaving/splitting process with the knife, I found that the pith resisted being 'peeled' or unrolled in any way, and could not satisfactorily make the turns at the points of the triangular stem. In addition to being difficult, it was extremely slow, and while efficiency is not necessarily a particularly strong argument for reconstructing traditional production practices, I came away from the experiment with a greater appreciation for the feel of papyrus pith and the implications of different methods of cutting it. I am disinclined towards the Hendricks method at present, but see Wallert's article (Wallert, 'The Reconstruction of Papyrus Manufacture: A Preliminary Investigation' in Studies in Conservation, Vol. 34, No. 1, (Feb., 1989), pp. 1-8), suggesting that there may be physical characteristics that can solve the question independent of the opinions of modern scholars engaging in experimental archaeology.

The green ware piece is roughly 4" in diameter with very thin walls. We'll have to see if this has possibilities as a suspended Christmas tree ornament,,,obviously, weight might determine the practicality.
