The pulled pork had a sauce that was too sweet for my tastes. The fries were soggy and uninteresting. The gravy was disappointing as well as I would have enjoyed a much more beefy flavour. Overall, I prefer NY Fries to this version. I'm sad to say that....but it's true. It's about 1lb of fries in all - about 1.3x the size of a poutine at NY Fries.
I ended up finding poutine at an A&W in an underground mall in Kamloops. Outside of the GMC, I think I subsisted entirely on A&W and Tim Horton's during my time in Canada. :-)
I can't not have poutine at least once when I visit Canada. Of course, one is bound to find poutine flavored chips, but what I was really hoping to find is ketchup flavored ones, which I've had in Quebec, and it was actually quite good. What I can't understand is why, if Americans eat their fries with ketchup so ubiquitously, Lays can't make their ketchup flavored chips here?
I got this from our new poutinerie. It was ok, I guess. It looked nicer before I closed the lid. I don't regret eating this, but I'm not in a hurry to go back for more.
The folks hadn't heard of the dish before. But a description of fries with melted cheese and tender pork short-rib meat on top sure sounds like a winner.
Poutine power. DELICIOUS combo of fries, cheese curds, and gravy. NOMNOMNOM. This particular goodness was from Patati Patata.
