I decided to have a puddle in photoshop and be a little artistic with this one. Various layers for watercolour/underpainting, some added lens flare for effect and different layer blend modes produced this image which I think is quite reasonable while remaining fairly subtle in the edits.

Probably still needs a little work here and there, but I'll leave it as is for now.

Its an optical illusion called the teardrop effect, but it is really "optical adhesion"

Venus, the smaller circle is entering the foreground in front of the sun. as the trailing edge passes the sun's rim, it optically appears to STICK. This is the indication that Venus has a visible atmosphere.

Venus transits the sun twice in every 121 years.These two transits are usually 11 years apart. The next will be in 2117.

A friend of mine sent over a photography work by himself. He was asking if I could possibly jazz it up. I said no problem. So here it is. The original picture can be examined here

Every now and then I will run workshops that focus on one of my interests, such as photography. Today, I instructed a grade ten class and had them do a photo walkabout with an eye to finding interesting abstract compositions in the neighbourhood of their school. These are some of my own efforts from the afternoon.

Post Process adjustments using ACDSee Pro 5 include: increased contrast, increased colour saturation, application of Orton Effect, application of a vignette.

Just a little fun with filters..
