PA_1485 [50 points]

This big green space invader in Le Marais is part of the 127th wave in Paris and is number 4087 in the world. As we speak (July 2023) still the most recent Paris space invader. Followed by the invasion of both Fontainebleau (18 invaders) and München (18 invaders). In the background the Église Saint-Merri. PA_1485 is surrounded by work of GZ'UP, A2 and another one, a clock.

Let's hope the markets take a breath today before they go into free fall!

Well, it took a break for a day, but went into free fall today (8-4-11) losing 500+ points...where will it go tomorrow?

The image presents a stylized fusion of two iconic symbols: the cross and the North Star. The cross, a central emblem of Christian faith, represents the crucifixion of Jesus, signifying sacrifice and redemption. It's depicted here with clean, sharp lines that extend outwards, transitioning into points that resemble the shining light of a star.

In the center, where the two lines of the cross meet, there's a bright burst of light, suggesting the luminous quality of the North Star, known for its guidance to travelers and, in Christian tradition, for leading the three wise men to the birthplace of Jesus. The design simplifies these complex symbols into a minimalist form that conveys a message of hope, guidance, and the convergence of celestial and spiritual journeying.

This visual representation is a powerful metaphor for finding direction and inspiration through faith, combining the earthly with the heavenly, the historical with the symbolic. It encapsulates the journey of the wise men as an eternal quest for the light of truth, mirrored in the human search for meaning and purpose.

'Over the Points' was a small quarterly magazine issued by the pre-nationalisation Southern Railway of England and handed out to holders of first class season tickets. It is of exemplary production, set and printed at the Curwen Press, who at the time were amongst the foremost printers around, and the look and feel of the periodical oozes Curwen's attention to detail. The vast majority of the line illustrations were undertaken by Victor Reinganum, in a very abstract style, typical of his work.

An interesting bit of mechanical signalling on a set of points at Pitsford and Brampton on the Northampton and Lamport Railway, 4th April 2017. Along with the actual point drive rodding there is a mechanical Facing Point Lock with section of raised rodding to get it over the rodding for three mechanical point detectors.

This is Five Points, a cocktail created at Death & Co in Denver, Colorado and published in the Happy Hour Handbook in 2020 (see note). The drink's namesake comes from the Five Points neighborhood in Denver which is also where Death & Co is located. This is a spirit-forward cocktail that uses a split-base of reposado tequila and mezcal. This base modified by two bitter elements, Punt e Mes and Amaro Nardini. Punt e Mes is unlike a lot of sweet vermouths since it is significantly more bitter, even to the point of sometimes being considered an amaro. Nardini is an amaro with only three botanicals (bitter orange, peppermint, gentian root) and does well to harmonize the agave spirits and the Punt e Mes. There's a bit of walnut liqueur which is a type of addition that is hard to notice, but evident when it's missing. The Xocolatl Mole bitters always goes well with agave spirits and really puts the finishing touch on this drink. For a drink without a lot of "age" in its spirits, it drinks a lot like smoky and complex Manhattan.

1.5 oz tequila (they use Tequila Ocho)

0.5 oz mezcal (they use Del Maguey Vida)

0.5 oz Punt e Mes

0.5 oz Amaro Nardini

1 tsp walnut liqueur also called nocino

2 dashes Bittermens Xocolatl Mole bitters

Combine all of the ingredients into a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until arctic cold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass like a Nick and Nora. Garnish with an orange peel.

Note: The Happy Hour Handbook is a compilation of cocktail and appetizer recipes collected from Denver bars. All proceeds from the book sales go to support the restaurants that contributed during this difficult season.

In calm and -5°C, I came to this place named Hoskuldavellir on Reykjanes peninsula, SW iceland.

The steam from the geothermal spot there makes like the Earh is boiling, and when the sun shines through the steam the effects are more visible in the rough lava landscape.

Movement is relative—these points of light are fixed, but my camera movement makes them appear to move over one quarter of a second. And that apparent movement follows the path of my hand—or should I say the light is bounded by that path—and paths are a type of boundary?

Anyway, the photo doesn't make much sense, but I like the color and the waviness!

The beginning of this month saw the completion of what has been a year long process of implants, crowns and veneers. I have to say I am very very pleased with the results. On the final appointment I asked Baber my dentist if I could take a couple of shots so you could all see the view from the chair in which I have spent about 30 hours over the last year (quite alot of that under sedation so I have no recollection) and all of it pain free! .....Hope you are all amused! :-))

The original mushroom space invader code named 'PA_701' did not have a long life. Hopefully the re-activated one we see here will stay longer, but we all know that street art is not forever.
