Every hour of every day, the relentless waves pound the rocks and boulders on the tip of the Schoodic Peninsula in Maine. Photographed at Schoodic Point, the crown jewel of the peninsula, which is known for its dramatic coastline and crashing surf. The granite ledges and rocky outcrops provide excellent vantage points for observing the powerful Atlantic Ocean waves.

The Vanishing point is a history of linear perspective. And, as such, is the practice of creating the illusion of three-dimensional depth on a two-dimensional surface. Sometimes, the intersection is off the page and leads to a different looking image. Here, the vanishing point aligns with the horizon, as it must, but just to the right of the frame. This technique was used to further emphasize the conditions of the area.
Once again in the Nicola Valley, it is late afternoon, and in the summer heat. The tops of dry grasses are highlighted, and form a line leading toward the horizon. Shadows play their part as the sun is only peaking over the hills, just outside the frame. The area is exceptionally dry and experiencing a drought. Strangely enough, last year this area was flooded and only the hills were visible.

Look at yourself as a colour- you may not be everyone’s favourite , but one day you’ll meet someone who needs you to complete their picture
The desert journey isn’t about embarking on a long and arduous struggle to find God at the end of the road. Desert spirituality is about looking for God right in the very midst of wrestling with ourselves. God is in the heart of the struggle, and so we are to stay there with the holy presence until the treasure is revealed.
-Desert Fathers and Mothers, annotations by Christine Valters Paintner
If the desert is holy, it is because it is a forgotten place that allows us to remember the sacred. Perhaps that is why every pilgrimage to the desert is a pilgrimage to the self. There is no place to hide and so we are found.

There is a grief that is useful, and there is a grief that is destructive. The first sort consist in weeping over one’s own faults and weeping over the weakness of one’s neighbors, in order not to destroy one’s purpose, and attach oneself to the perfect good. But there is also a grief that comes from the enemy, full of mockery, which some call accidie. This spirit must be cast out, mainly by prayer and psalmody.

As the days light was falling, a lone Seagull joins me to bid the sun a fond farewell. Just moments prior, this tiny and quickly disappearing island was filled with Gulls. The moment had all the makings of a good story telling image.
There was a golden light shining on the subject, and an interesting sky to view. Plus, there was something my subject and I had in common as the light faded. The land beneath our feet was vanishing, as the tides were coming in.

Taking its form from the orphaned triangular site on which it sits, this artwork produces a new urban room by combining a multicoloured truss structure, the triangular plot of wild grasses it encloses, and an encircling sidewalk thats acts as a podium and plinth. Located between the converging energies of uptown and downtown, the structure densifies an intersection already clotted with utilities and challenges established forms of urbanism and spatial representation in Toronto.
The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex (German Zeche Zollverein) is a large former industrial site in the city of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The first coal mine on the premises was founded in 1847, and mining activities took place from 1851 until December 23, 1986. For decades, starting in the late 1950s, the two parts of the site, Zollverein Coal Mine and Zollverein Coking Plant (erected 1957–1961, closed on June 30, 1993), ranked among the largest of their kinds in Europe. Shaft 12, built in the New Objectivity style, was opened in 1932 and is considered an architectural and technical masterpiece, earning it a reputation as the "most beautiful coal mine in the world".
Because of its architecture and testimony to the development of heavy industry in Europe, the industrial complex was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List on December 14, 2001, and is one of the anchor points of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.
