Today we visited Colchester Zoo, Paul and I haven't been in about 5 yrs, so it was nice to go back and take Joshua with us.
Here is one of the male elephants in an enclosure on their own. They are such amazing animals and I love how wrinkly they are.

On January 13th 1945, Raymond King, based at Wattisham was on an escort mission when he experienced engine failure and ditched his aircraft just 800 yards from the seafront at Clacton.
Although rescued by the crew of the Clacton lifeboat he never survived his ordeal in the bitterly cold sea and tragically died from hypothermia.
He was buried at The American Cemetery at Madingley, and after the war was returned to the United States.
The aircraft was recovered from the sea in 1987.

I came across this old abandoned school while taking a detour one evening to get to the Family Wash restaurant for the wedding rehearsal dinner. I didn't have time to stop that evening, but made a drive back two days later before I left town.

We were just banking round to the left to show the saltmarsh and shingle of Colne Point Nature Reserve, very close to the properties in Point Clear, Essex. Ray Creek cuts through the middle of the saltmarsh.
Separated by Brightlinsea Creek. Also Cindery Island and Sandy Point can be seen. In the distance St Osyth beach.

It's been a crazy week for me with little time for photography, but I've been scanning through some of my photos from 2 weeks ago to see what else I can post from my trip to the Fairhope, AL area.
