My parents were down visiting last week. You can see my father, Border Mac, below. The first shot is him in action and the other is him, the day before in Brighton, reviewing the pictures he'd just taken. I think he got some good ones - hopefully he'll post them soon!

Plus de trois semaines après son premier signalement dans le secteur de l'aéroport et du Technoparc, nous l'avons retrouvé bien camouflé dans un bosquet peuplé de grands pins entre autre. Ce hibou qu'on avait déjà capté à l'autre extrémité de l'île de Montréal à presque pareille date n'est pas aussi commun qu'on puisse le penser car il hiverne principalement aux USA et au Mexique, il ne reste que parfois dans notre région selon le guide "Paquin-Caron". C'est un peu pour cette raison que plusieurs photographes de la région ont voulu lui tirer le portrait. Son regard est vraiment impressionnant et en vaut la peine.
More than 3 weeks after its being first photographed in the area of the International Airport, we managed to spot him well hidden in a bunch of pine trees half a mile down. This owl is not a usual sight in the area although more than one were spotted at the extreme end of the Island at about the same time last year. They are expected to migrate south to the US and Mexico. So we were quite grateful for its patience while we were dancing around the tree trying to find an adequate viewpoint through the small branches and needles to portray this magnificent bird.

An image I have been meaning to do for a while but work, moon, clouds and calima have all thwarted my attempts at various times in the past. No work today, no moon, no clouds and very little calima meant the stars had aligned so last night off I went.
The foreground is lit by security lights from Casa El Barba Restaurant atop the cliff and behind me hence the strange lighting. In the distance is Correlejo, Fuerteventura with it's lights blazing, not great but it's there, what can you do.
Pentax K1ii, DFA15-30 utilising the superb inbuilt Pentax ASTROTRACER which moves the sensor to counter the rotation of the earth. 5 x 1 minute for both the sky and foreground (with astrotracer off) with 5 darks used on both, the subsequent images were blended in Photoshop and polished in Lightroom with a touch of DeNoise.

Na eerst een paar dagen in de Harz te hebben doorgebracht, stonden nu meerdere dagen aan het Werratal op de planning. Dit keer weer 'Dampf trift Kies', met de locomotieven 41 1144-9 (IGE Werratal), 41 1150-6 (Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum), 52 8079-7 en 02 201-0 (beide Dampf Plus). Op de eerste dag (donderdag) reden de 41 1144-9, 41 1150-6 en 52 8079-7 diverse goederentreinen tussen Eisenach en Meiningen.
After having spent a few days in the Harz, several days at the Werratal were on the schedule now. This time again 'Dampf trift Kies', with the locomotives 41 1144-9 (IGE Werratal), 41 1150-6 (Bavarian Eisenbahn Museum), 52 8079-7 and 02 201-0 (both Dampf Plus). On the first day (Thursday), the 41 1144-9, 41 1150-6 and 52 8079-7 ran various freight trains between Eisenach and Meiningen.

Diesmal wieder „Dampf trift Kies“, mit den Lokomotiven 41 1144-9 (IGE Werratal), 41 1150-6 (Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum), 52 8079-7 und 02 201-0 (Dampf Plus). Am ersten Tag (Donnerstag) fuhren die 41 1144-9, 41 1150-6 und 52 8079-7 verschiedene Güterzüge zwischen Eisenach und Meiningen.

Sur ce cliché, on peut bien juger de la hauteur des projections du Piton Kalla et Pélé.
Alors que le cratère fait près de 40 mètres de hauteur avec une base d'environ 120 mètres de diamètre, les projections vont quand à elles à plus de 100 mètres de hauteur, propulsant les roches volcaniques et cheveux de Pélé à plusieurs centaines de mètres du cône.
En arrière plan, on peut également voir toute la partie calcinée du rempart au niveau du Piton de Bert.
