A woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Roses have acquired cultural significance in many societies. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses. R_22501

i remember as a little girl i wore hard soled shoes, especially on those very special occasions. little white patened leather mary janes, which made the most delicious sounding noise when i walked upon the sidewalk, grains of sand under foot. i would imagine that i was a tap dancer...or a soft shoe extraordinaire...shuffling to and fro...

i still get that same feeling today, when i am crunching something under foot...be it the sidewalk or crispy, crunchy leaves or newly fallen snow. something about that auditory stimulation just gets to me...in a good way..

As I'm waiting for the roads that will let me reach some dark places to photograph the Milky Way to open, I'm trying to master my skills re-editing old shots.

This one in particular is a stack between a panorama shot at sunset (Canon 17-40mm f/4) and a panorama shot taken at night (Sigma 50mm f/1.4). The Milky Way isn't in its original position (it should be vertical) but I prefered to put it horizontal because it fits better in the landscape.

I will surely continue my "Transition project" this summer, this time without distorting the position of the elements like the Milky Way here.

Hope you enjoy!

While walking on banks of Danube and soaking in the grandeur of Budapest, you will come across 60 pairs of iron shoes, pointed towards the river. Poignant in their simplicity, a tragic story lies behind this memorial. The composition titled 'Shoes on the Danube Bank' gives remembrance to the 3,500 people, 800 of them Jews, who were shot into the Danube during the time of the Arrow Cross terror.

I took this a few weeks back with Daniel Ryan Seeks and Rian Long while out shooting at the Alabama Hills area. We raced down the hill from the Whitney Portal area to get the sunset and scrambled to find a comp. I finally settled on this one as my main comp. So much to shoot out there and it seemed like it was impossible to find a comp I liked. Hope you all dig it!
