These came as a pleasant surprise today because this year for whatever reason, no starlings had nested in my neighhbour's eaves and roof. I've seen enough adults in my garden though over the last few weeks to make me suspect they've nested elsewhere but know where to find food,

On top of the Aiguille du Midi, on the summit terrace, at 3842 m.

Here you can enjoy breathtaking views over the Alps. Mountain peaks and glaciers everywhere, as far as the eye can see. Down in the valley is Chamonix at 1036 m.

Also visible : Le Plan d'Aiguille (where you switch cable cars, the cable car ride between Chamonix and Aiguille du Midi is in two stages) and Lac Bleu, Aiguilles Rouge, Le Brévent and

L'Index. Behind us is the Mont Blanc.
