GB Railfreight Class 92, 92018 brings the Caledonian Sleeper Up Highlander (1M16) in to Crewe for the service's final station call prior to arriving at London Euston.
This stop also sees the final driver change, with one of GBRf Crewe's Sleeper drivers ready to relieve one of his depot-mates.
Although it's happened a few times recently, 1M16 is seen here in the somewhat unusual territory of Platform 5, with Platform 6 being the booked platform for both 1M16 and 1S25.
Photo taken on Christmas Day 1990 on MCP01. The Crew made sure that JK won the raffle and got himself a Blow-up doll to keep him company during his trip offshore.
The westerm platform remained in use until 1994 with a shuttle train connecting the station to the main Piccadilly line at Holborn. An old Northern line train is now resident in this platform and kept in working order. This platform has been used by several film companies
The phone call button and the elevator call button look identical and I imagine the station attendant gets a lot of mistaken calls. Lowest bidder?

The last train to Severn Beach. Too many yellow lines and faded dreams. Do I take a bus or the train? Are we going someplace?

On 08/02/2015, I was pleased to be able to visit the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway again after an absence of almost two years. To my surprise, I found trains running the "wrong" way around the circuit. Hence, we see No. 10 Sir Arthur Heywood awaiting departure from what is normally the rear of Eastleigh Parkway station - not quite as photogenic as the canopy and signal gantry at the other end!
