You know it hurts when a plaster band is pulled off your hairy leg

Art installation in Rhyolite, Nevada, an abandoned mining town. The artist, Albert Szukalski, wrapped models in plaster-covered fabric.

For me one of the biggest pleasures of Mexico is the richness in colours and textures of just about everything you look at.

These forms were casted from a 2 piece plaster mold that I made from a sculpted plasticine clay form. They are the same shape but are differentiated by thier color or design.

I left some plaster in the bottom of the bucket...

Sculpture made in 1999(?) while at New College. The assignment was to make a mold, but I wasn't happy with the limitations of regular molds, so I heat-shrunk a heavy trash bag around a piggybank. This is the only surviving of three; the others had fruits in them, which rotted and evolved over time, but also attracted gnats.

Another picture from Holy Spirit.

plaster |ˈplastər| noun 1 a soft mixture of lime with sand or cement and water for spreading on walls, ceilings, or other structures to form a smooth hard surface when dried.

Testing out plaster on the wall- amateurs.

This was in the Victoria and Albert museum. Apparently in the 19th century the Victorians thought it was cool to make plaster casts of famous artwork, I think they were right.

Plaster sucks. Okay, here's my first lesson from this weekend's project: DO NOT use any sort of reciprocating saw on plaster walls (such as a jig saw). The teeth can just grab hold of the lathe and proceed to crack all of the plaster off of it.

Instead, use a hole saw (if you can buy one big enough) or just drill a starting hole and cut the hole out with a rotary bit (like a zip tool or a Dremel).

This is a 4 inch diameter hole (it's round, I just took the photo at an angle) to accept a lighting box. I'm putting a light in the basement stairwell to make it less treacherous.

This was the plastering crew for much of the interior lime/sand plaster, after we had completed a morning's work.
