At this point I started to wonder if this was really a good idea (some of the historic preservation websites made it sound like tearing down plaster was equivalent to destroying history), but it was clearly too late to turn back, and it was kind of fun anyway : )

Wonderful instructive tutorial. With Diana's video it was like I knew exactly what to do. I'm now a mold making addict. My life will now be spent hunting down forms to pour plaster into. These are at the just poured stage.
Whilst also making plaster casts I also experimented with using vacuum form molds to make plaster tiles

prototypes are places on a cut piece of plywood and wrapped in tar paper in lieu of cottle boards for simple vertical forms.
There were a few exhibits that had life sized figures. Something like this was useful to understand the distance of things and appreciate the physical aspects of this sport. But it was also fun taking pictures of things from angles to make the plaster people look like they're doing something dirty, like the guy on the right.
