The sky bluer
The water bluer
I am in the veranda, Ra’na is near the bond
Ra’na is washing clothes
Leaves are falling
At morning Mother said, “It is the season of depression.”
-“Life is like apple.” I said, “You must bite it with the skin.”
The neighboring woman is weaving nets by her window singing
I am singing Vedas
Sometimes I sketch rocks, birds, and clouds
It is a full sunshine
The starlings have arrived
Nasturtiums have just blossomed
I crack a pomegranate, thinking to myself
“I wish the seeds of these people’s hearts were visible.”
My tears flow, the pomegranate juice spurts into my eye
Mother laughs
Ra’na as well

Bleach Green, home of Egremont RUFC, who play in the North Lancs/Cumbria League. The club has used this ground on the banks of the River Ehen throughout its 125-year-plus history - and suffered several serious incidences of flooding as a result. The recently-opened clubhouse in the centre of the far touchline replaced one that was swept away when the Ehen burst its banks. When this shot was taken, Bleach Green was being borrowed by Egremont Rangers ARLFC, whose Gillfoot Park ground, at the other end of the town, was required for cricket.
James "Jimmy" Carter was the 39th President of the United States and a Nobel Peace Prize winner for his work at the Carter Center and is also a key proponent of Habitat for Humanity. A promising officer in the US Navy working in nuclear submarines during WWII, Carter abruptly left in 1953 after his father died to take over the family farm. After a difficult few years (Carter is the only US President to have lived in subsidized housing), the farm began to thrive and Jimmy Carter turned to politics. After a close election to a Georgia state senator, Carter lost the 1966 gubernatorial election to arch segregationist Lester Maddox he finally became Governor of Georgia after a bitter second election in 1970. Despite running a conservative campaign, at Carter's inauguration he proclaimed to the shock of the audience: "the time of racial segregation is over. . . . No poor, rural, weak, or black person should ever have to bear the additional burden of being deprived of the opportunity for an education, a job or simple justice."
As governor he was known for consolidating 300 state agencies to 22, providing equal state aid to schools in the wealthy and poor areas of Georgia, set up community centers for mentally disabled children, and increased educational programs for convicts, as well as vetoed a controversial dam on the Flint River.
In 1976 Jimmy Carter had enough of a reputation to run for President of the United States. Pundits stated that he had no chance, with only 2% national recognition. However the country, still reeling from the resignation of Pres Richard Nixon two years before, took a liking to an outsider far from Washington Politics. In a close election, Carter won 50.1 to 48.0 percent of the popular vote, and 297 to 240 electoral votes.
In 1976 James Kiely, Doyle Kifer, and Loretta Townsend of Indiana carved a giant 3.96m tall statue of a peanut with Carter's lips. It was moved to Plains Georgia after the election and remains there to this day. It is the unofficial mascot of the city.

Today we are trying to be abit Puny.
I had to take a friend to the airport the other day and so I thought I'd try some more plane fun.
It did take a while before I could get a plane to fly thru that hole and it has been quite warm the last few days.

It's officially Spring!
Now we will have buggers eating those new leaves,
and warblers to eat those buggers!
I'm sure some people think I'm lazy when I stay in my car to take plant pics, but the real reason is that I like the separation that a long lens brings to the table. Though there can sometimes be a problem with getting far enough away from my subject to get it all in the frame, so to create this image I made a 4 capture composite where you can search through the image to find a catkin that's in good focus if it's detail you're lookin' for.

This capture reminds me of a 'girly girl scene. I think: Barbie, dollhouses, glitter & playing princess - when I see this.
This is so surreal... like a dream. Yet this ladybug is so cute & inviting. I feel like she is inviting me in to play.
-Who knows? Maybe she'll invite me inside for tea & cookies! :]
I wish!
PS: I thought that the lady bug and the flowers looked like they had glitter on them. Especailly on the ladybug's lower shell.. [that looks to me like a stripe of glitter.] Hehe. Maybe it's just my imagination!
Lets try something completely pure. Notting hottie about this one right? just simple plain pure. Dont know why it is so crowded though? Are they standing in que for something? Are the entering or coming out?
figure it out yourself.
(pst! Dont forget I said it was plain pure, its no my faulth your head is spinning ;-D)
This lego model 1957 Chevrolet 210 Sport Coupe has been built for Flickr LUGNuts 56th Build Challenge - 'Plain Jane' - the first half of a two month challenge to build a 'plain Jane' model, and then spend the second month customising it.
In this case I have taken the lower specification Chevrolet 210 from the 1957 catalogue. Missing some of the distinctive trim and options of the more glamorous Bel Air, the 210 looks very similar, sharing the Bel Air style side spear (but losing the rippled stainless steel panel section). This vehicle is modelled in two tone black over white, and was availaible in most of the colours that were optional in the 1957 catalogue.
Also present is the Sport Coupe, two-door pillarless hardtop. This is the second most glamorous bodystyle behind the rare Nomad two-door wagon.
This is not the first 1957 Chevrolet I have modelled, so the form and function are quite well developed. The model features body-on-frame construction, and lego piston vee-four engine (mimicing the package of the V8), live rear axle suspension, independent front suspension and rear-wheel-drive. The body features opening bonnet (hood), boot (trunk), and two coupe doors.
Stay tuned next month for some customising of this iconic classic American car.

A more documentary image of the Belle Plain College Ruins, in the ghost town of Belle Plain, Callahan County, Texas.
The Belle Plain College was built in 1881, 5 years after the town of Belle Plain was established in 1876. When Callahan County was established in 1877, Belle Plain was elected as the County Seat, and the little community really began to thrive. The college was well known for it's music program, complete with fifteen pianos, a brass band and an orchestra.
The towns' primacy was short-lived however, because in 1883 The Texas & Pacific railroad built through the town of Baird to the north, which spelled the beginning of the end for Belle Plain.
By 1892 the college, which had been foreclosed on a couple years earlier, was forced to shutdown, and by 1897 only a handful of residents remained. The last nail in the coffin was the eventual closure of the post office in 1909. Belle Plain has now been a ghost town for right about 100 years, and this college has been abandoned for about 116.
The Belle Plain College Ruins are probably the most remote location I've ever shot, even more so than the Van Patten Mountain Camp in the mountains of New Mexico. It's only about 6 miles south of Interstate 20, but it's only then that your adventure really begins. You turn off on a series of poorly marked dirt roads, that wind up, down and around hill (mostly up), until your headlights catch something; it's the former deans' house, in the trees, on the right side of the road. Park the car, get out, and stare up at the sky. You'd be hard pressed to find any less light pollution than at this spot right here, as there hasn't been a light in sight in any direction since shortly after leaving the town of Baird, back on I-20. Hop the barbed wire fence, and walk a few hundred yards south, and in the middle of the field you'll find the remnants of this once proud, if fleeting, little piece of forgotten Texas history.
I've never felt more alone at any location I've ever shot; absolute silence, and absolutely in the middle of nowhere.
Night, full moon, but very low in the sky, with an ill-advised green strobe to try to light up the tree at the right edge of the frame. 5 1/2 minute exposure.
