The Pool of Asmodeus.

Just look at those Edit's... ha!

Quite a few steps involved with this shot.

Firstly I realised that F9, ISO 100, meant a 25 sec exposure for a pixelshifted image, this meant that some fern was moving/blurring even after Motion Correction was applied PP (RawTherapee).

So I took a second shot that was higher ISO (1600) but same aperture to capture the motion blurring fern still.

These two shots were then stacked.

Finally a 3rd shot was taken with 50sec exposure for the water, this was stacked on the aforementioned stack to bring about a smoother glossier water affect.

Lots more editing in LR and Topaz (Clarity and Adaptive Exposure) whilst unmasking the affect from the water to keep it with that glossy look).

A labour of love indeed.

Still I am quite happy with the outcome, no highlights blown, a nice exposure and sharp in places with movement only where I wanted it.

My third attempt at digitising this slide; here with an improved light source and a new IT8-calibrated workflow. The gamut of the original is huge, and the colour and tone of the sky in particular is very tricky to reproduce precisely. I finally feel like I've done justice to the original.

Note: this copy has an embedded P3 profile rather than the usual sRGB, as the latter simply could not render the yellows of the foliage properly. That crap standard seriously needs to be phased out. Anyway, those with wide-gamut displays should hopefully be able to enjoy it.

My first test shot with the SMC Pentax FA 50mm f/2.8 lens on the Pentax K-1, using pixel shift for better detail.

I can say I'm impressed.

Signs of industry - lights reflecting on the water at Aberdeen harbour as night fell.

I liked the oleaginous movement of the water so much I made a video in which nothing happens.

The view the other way.

A local subject I have photographed before. This particular time was around sunset, and the scene was bathed in wonderfully subtle pinkish light, which I have tried to do some justice to.

Photo of Krka Falls in Croatia ,shot on 5/5/2018 with Pentax K 1 Mark II and Pentax 24-70

I have shot using the pixel shift hand held and processed in the camera the RAW file in TIFF,that has been processed with Adobe Photoshop

One of my first shots using the Pixel Shift function of the Pentax K-70.

The folks at Ordnance Survey have yet to see fit to name this - and as culverts barely a foot wide go, I'm not entirely surprised - but I am rather fond of this view.

If you walk barely 10yd away from the main track through the Black Woods of Rannoch at the right point, there used to be a pebble in the bank of this culvert, from which this is the view. The joys of a different, lower and wider, perspective.

Focus Shift + Pixel Shift

I love weird puns and word play...

Carnation (dairy) makes ice cream. I thought it would be funny to put carnations inside ice cream cones. So... Carnations, not Carnation.

I only used about 50 Focus Shift Images each with a 32-image pixel shift were captured in camera. Each of the pixel-shift images were combined and then exported as a 16-bit TIF (1.09GB) each of the 50 TIFs were then brought onto Helicon Soft stacking software. The software automatically stacked the TIFs into a single file that had the desired part of the frame in focus. That stacked image was brought into Photoshop for resizing and final adjustments.
