The Pelican virtuoso has decided to perform in front of his peers, and it’s a real show! Who would have thought that fish could be so fascinating in mid-air ? Now, he’s the master of ceremonies at the lagoon, juggling a fish as if it were a circus ball. The other pelicans are enchanted, and some are even starting to learn a few tricks to rival the virtuoso. But beware, this fish might just be the most unpredictable partner in the show…
Who knows, maybe we’ll soon see an avian juggling festival with flying fish ? 😉

The spring season is upon us, but another one has already started: Milky Way season.
It’s a time when the spectacular region of our galaxy, AKA the Galactic Bulge, is visible in the night sky.
“I've been shooting Milky Way images for almost a decade, and I still get very excited at the beginning of every new season,” astrophotographer Dan Zafra.
For the start of 2025, he ventured to Death Valley to capture his first images of the Milky Way core !!!

The gannet is a large seabird that is emblematic of the Atlantic coast.
Gannets nest in dense colonies on cliffs or rocky islands that are inaccessible to land predators. These colonies are mainly found in the North Atlantic.
They feed mainly on fish such as herring and mackerel, which they catch by diving.
Their binocular vision allows them to locate their prey accurately underwater.
The gannet is a fascinating example of adaptation to the marine environment, combining aerial elegance with efficient underwater hunting.

It is amazing what you can get out of a film that expired more than 30 years ago. I overexposed it for approximately one stop and left it for one minute longer than necessary in the color developer bath. The digitized negative was "developed" in FilmLab 2.0 software and post-processed with Pixelmator Pro and Aurora HDR 2019.

“A friend surprised me with a bouquet of tulips, and I photographed them in different forms, at their most beautiful. As the flowers aged and the petals unfurled, I decided to see how they would freeze (some flowers lose their color during this process). I arranged the tulips in a shallow baking dish with a little water to set them. I added more water once the base layer had frozen, leaving a few petals above the water line. I love the contrasting textures.”

Between strength and delicacy, her body evokes a sculpture coming to life, an alabaster blossoming in motion.

One morning, a great egret with the sweet name of Colette decided to go to Paris to fulfill her dream.
Upon arriving at the Moulin Rouge, she introduced herself to the director, who was surprised by this apparition in white feathers.
Colette said to him: “I am the new star you’ve been waiting for! I will dance like no one has ever danced before!”
Amused by her audacity, the director offered her an audition. Colette stepped onto the stage, twirled her wings like fans, and began to dance with unexpected grace. The audience burst into laughter and applause.
Despite her lack of experience, Colette became an unexpected attraction at the Moulin Rouge. Every evening, she danced with her white feathers, making everyone laugh and smile.
And even though she never became a true Moulin Rouge dancer, she remained the most famous egret in Paris—the one who dared to dream and brought joy to an entire audience …

°°°°°°°°°°°°
Many animals have been proven to express some form of grief. From Tanzania, Jane Goodall once recorded a young chimpanzee that died of grief following the death of his mother only weeks earlier. One study followed a beluga whale that carried her deceased calf for almost a full week, while another found lemurs giving “lost” calls in the presence of a killed family member.
Out of all these, however, perhaps elephants resemble a human’s mourning patterns most closely.

°°°°°°°°°
This small monkey is called the "dark langur" because of its dark, gray to black fur and the distinctive white circles around its eyes, which give it a "dark" appearance with white spectacles. The term "langur" generally refers to monkeys with long, non-prehensile tails, used as balancers !
