As part of a unit involving Newton's Laws of Physics, eighth grade Get Fit students built cars that specifically worked on Newton's Third law. They had to build a car powered by only a balloon. They were not allowed to use normal wheels so they had to be creative and choose something to make it roll. The car had to go at least five meters. Along with the car they had to design an advertisement that included a bulletin board ad and a written ad that they would put in the newspaper to sell their car.
They will be judged on their salesmanship of their car and the design of the ad and car. The cars were then put to the test in a race in the school gym.
Both the formation of the horizon and the cap of the mushroom of the mushroom are sensitive to gravity. The lines are parallel by design. It is a matter of physics.
I don't know what this thing is called but its one those things that you grab one ball up and let go then the other ball on the other side goes up, except this one is huge can any body tell me what it is called?

This example is quite often used by physicists as an example for the effect of particle size on absorption/transmission characteristics. In this case the material contains nm-sized gold particles that have a so called 'plasmon resonance' at a certain frequency. All the electrons wiggle at their best when this takes place. Take a pendulum as the mechanical analogy. If you excite it with its natural frequency (eigen-frequency), the amplitude is greatest.

Top Physics Students Honoured!
Institute of Physics - Top Leaving Certificate physics students presented Silver Medals at ceremony tonight in the RDS

Prof. David Riley, chair of the Institute of Physics in Ireland, this evening presented Silver Medals to the top Leaving Certificate physics students and the Earnshaw Award for the best physics final year undergraduate project in Ireland.
Speaking at the event, Professor David Riley noted the recent and very positive news about Ireland joining the European Southern Observatory and the welcome increase in students taking physics at Leaving Certificate - with numbers up by 19% since 2012. IOP has put significant resources into support for teaching physics through its teacher networks, and also by providing accurate and engaging careers materials.
