I have been determined to find this crazy rock formation nicknamed the King-Of-Wings for several years. I've seen a few photos of it and wanted desperately to find it. It is the most obscure thing I have ever found. This hoodoo seems to somehow defy the laws of physics and gravity. (no, this is not photoshopped) Who knows how much longer this thing will keep standing. I really wanted to document it before it collapses.
A lot of research went into this. It's not in Bisti Badlands as I had previously thought. It's about 10 miles south of that in another badlands called Ah Shi Sle Pah (yes, really) The badlands around Bisti stretch out for about 20 miles. Trying to find one particular rock formation amidst that 20 miles is like quite literally finding a needle in a haystack. It was about a four mile hike from the nearest road. (when I say road, I mean a few tire tracks thru the desert) The road abruptly ended at a cliff going down to a great big wash. From there it was on foot for about four miles putting 100% faith in my GPS, climbing through washes and under fences. It's difficult blindly following a little dot on a GPS screen, especially when the GPS keeps telling you to go left, when your instincts are telling you to go right. I could see a bunch of badlands off to the right, but the direction I was heading was nothing but dead grass and sagebrush. Eventually the GPS won, as I came over a hill and, lo and behold, there was a few miles of badlands ahead. As soon as I saw those badlands, I was elated. I knew the GPS must be right. This formation was in there. I knew it. Scaling down a cliff into the badlands was a challenge.
So… I found it! This is one of the scariest hikes I have ever done. Not that it was dangerous or challenging. Just scary putting 100% faith in a dot on a GPS screen. Scary knowing that if the battery on the GPS dies, I have almost no chance of ever finding my way back to my truck which was parked in the middle of the desert about 15 miles from the nearest paved road. Scary that if I did have a problem, I had absolutely no cell phone signal. Even scarier that by the time I found this thing, it was only an hour before sunset, and I had hiked over two hours to find it. I REALLY didn't want to try to find my truck in the dark. There is no moon right now, so it would be REALLY dark! I shot this quickly and started heading back immediately. Luckily I was able to find a much more direct route back, and did manage to find my truck shortly after sunset.

This week in 2004, the MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, Geochemistry, and Ranging spacecraft was launched aboard a Delta II rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Designed and built by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, MESSENGER was the first spacecraft to orbit Mercury. Protected from the intense heat of the Sun by an innovative ceramic-cloth sunshade, MESSENGER provided the first images of the entire planet and collected information on the composition and structure of Mercury's crust, geologic history, atmosphere, magnetosphere, and the makeup of its core and polar materials. The spacecraft arrived at Mercury on March 17, 2011, and impacted the planet's surface April 30, 2015. MESSENGER was part of the Discovery program, managed at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center for the agency's Science Mission Directorate. The NASA History Program is responsible for generating, disseminating, and preserving NASA's remarkable history and providing a comprehensive understanding of the institutional, cultural, social, political, economic, technological, and scientific aspects of NASA's activities in aeronautics and space. For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. But does that apply to gods, super humans, and aliens? I've seen things that would change the very way people live. I changed my past, and then had to deal with the consequences of my action. I have stood before the most powerful and evil person in my universe, and refused to bow. Yet in my lifetime nothing like this has happened before. Over night new continents just appeared, cities were destroyed because two things can not exist in the same place, new types of people exist now--some can change there entire physiological without even blinking. We still don't know what the consequences of this will be, but I fear grand ones are in store. Some of these could come by our own hand--people have always protected there homes, there always will be, and ever since this "collision with another reality" it has caused allot of chaos. Some people call us terrorist and they demand our lives. Of course like us there are ones that take the law into there own hands; I've called for a conference and they have agreed to talk.

Fast with Physics was a capture that I made because to two young girls were having such a great time. Their joy and enthusiasm captured me immediately and it was something I needed to capture. It took me back to my youth. The Fair occurred 7 months after I moved to Jackson. It had lived in Houston Texas and had been to the Houston Live Stock and Rodeo several times. It's a huge exhibition of everything Texas, outside to the State Fair in Dallas. It had every carnival ride and game you could imagine, livestock show and barbecue that would satisfy even the finicky barbecue eater. However when I got to Jackson Mississippi their fair was perfect and a American experience. No flash, no huge crowds, and plenty of hospitality. It reminded me of the fair and carnival experience of my youth in the south.
That's my first exoplanet transit that I registered.
WASP-43b is a transiting planet in orbit around the young, active, and low-mass star WASP-43 in the constellation Sextans. The planet is a Hot Jupiter with a mass twice that of Jupiter, but with a roughly equal radius.
WASP-43b had an orbital period of approximately 0.8 days (19.2 hours).
WASP-43 is a K-type star in the Sextans constellation that is about 80 parsecs (261 light years) away. The star has a mass of 0.58 times that of the Sun.

You know the story by now - it's just physics. Water drops refract the image of the flowers behind them. Pretty physics though.
In classical physics, that is the non-relativistic physics, the concept of time generally used is that of “absolute time”, which is independent of any perceiver. It progresses at a consistent pace for everyone everywhere throughout the universe, and is essentially mathematical in nature. This accords with people’s everyday experience of how time flows.
The so-called “arrow of time” refers to the one-way direction, or asymmetry, of time, which leads to the way we instinctively perceive time as moving forwards from the immutable past, through the present and towards the unknown future. This idea arises from physics, particularly from the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
Many discussions have been made about the real nature of time: is it really as we perceive it? Is it really an absolute concept, valid everywhere? Is there something more, something we cannot reach?
After his friend’s death, Einstein said: “Now he has departed this strange world a little ahead of me. That signifies nothing. For us believing physicists, the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.” Einstein’s statement was not merely an attempt at consolation, it referred to the two pillars of modern physics: the general theory of relativity and the Standard Model of particle physics. The laws that underlie these theories are time-symmetric — that is, the physics they describe is the same, regardless of whether the variable called “time” increases or decreases.
Most physicists agree that time had a beginning, and that it is measured from The Big Bang, some 13.8 billion years ago. Whether, how and when time might end in the future is a more open question which we are not able to answer to, for now.
