I got a photo pass to the 02/25 Showbox Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concert with openers Sol w/ DJ Nphared, The Physics, and Grieves & Budo.
It was a crazy concert. more photos here:

Carlos and I had this debate for about 2 weeks: say you take a hula hoop and distribute charge unifromly over its surface. Now take a small test charge and place it anywhere within the plane of the hula hoop (not necessarily at the center). Will the charge feel a net electrical force acting on it? Carlos said no, I said yes, and here we are in my theoretical linear algebra class duking it out. Believe it or not, we're actually the two coolest kids in that class...
(By the way, I was so right :-)
PHOENIX: Physics with Homemade Equipment and Innovative Experiments
This project started as a part of the program by Inter University
Accelerator Centre to improve the laboratory facilities at the
universities. It is a Hardware and Software Framework that can be used
for developing computer interfaced science experiments without getting
into the details of electronics or computer programming. The objective
is to make teachers and students familiar with computerized
experimental systems and also to enable them to develop new
experiments. Different sensors elements can be interfaced and accessed
by few lines of Python code. Phoenix utilizes the power of personal
computers for experiment control, data acquisition and its
mathematical analysis. The instrument is designed using locally
available low cost components and the design is freely available for
commercial production. Design supports hardware plug-in modules for
expansion. Phoenix is developed using Free Software tools. The Phoenix
Live CD contains all the required phoenix programs plus a collection
of science and engineering software.

"Physics package." A rather innocuous term for the business parts of a thermonuclear warhead. Entered into service circa 1962, this was the main component of a 4.5-ton thermonuclear bomb that could sustain a yield of nine megatons.

“There’s a basic human need to understand why we’re here, how we came to be and what life is really about. We don’t need to study physics, but people do it anyway. There’s a fitting quote by the physicist Richard Feynman which explains it quite well: ‘Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that’s not why we do it’.”
The power of swimming bacteria can be harnessed to turn tiny gears, opening the possibility of building hybrid biological machines at the microscopic scale. Full story.

During physics, it was pretty boring :)
Ow and I usually don't use deodorant during lessons! But it was so hot in the auditorium, we were all melting..
Hahaha, good Lord. June 17, 1999, Physics classroom at Grover Cleveland High School, NYC. My hair looks RIDICULOUS, and yet, I still do the hand-under-the-face-gesture. Somethings never change. Priceless photo.
