Making a tribute for my dear friend Beate is like “eine harte Nuss knacken” which translates into English as “a tough nut to crack”. This has nothing to do with her wonderful personality – I tell you about this later – it refers only to finding the right picture for her as she is such a talented and versatile photographer showing us so many different moods, motifs and styles. But I have my special tools: www.flickr.com/photos/fotony/3258574567/.

So we soon come to the first of Beate’s passions: Taking wonderful pictures of all kinds of lovely objects like Murmeln www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4054772442/in/set-721576226... (funny), shells www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4322952494/in/set-721576232... and memory cards www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4294970689/in/set-721576232... . An absolute hit was here stunning nightly yellow phone box making it to the front page of Flickr www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4255740459/in/set-721576232... and having more than 100 fav stars now!!!!

Something else Beate loves to do are blurry and fuzzy pictures like this one www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/3948085395/in/set-721576229... or showing us most amazing shadows and lights www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4194141332/in/set-721576224... .

Most of all I think Beate is interested in people and you find some wonderful portraits in her stream www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4100309979/in/set-721576225... . A must you have to see is her recent album about people in carnival www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/sets/72157623447834238/ . Really one picture better than the other showing the human joyful side of life.

And now to Beate herself. There are many reasons for being lucky to having Beate as a contact or friend. First of all she loves to comment, moreover she is always extremely fast in commenting. Then she’s got lots of humor on the one side but she is a also a very deep thinking person on the other side as well. She loves reading poetry and adds very thoughtful rhymes underneath her pictures. When living in Europe and you can’t sleep very well at night Beate will be there for you as she is working at night in a home for disabled people. I am sure they love her in her working place. The experiences Beate is making there are also reflected in her pictures as they vary from pure joy www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4396102725/in/set-721576233... to vulnerability and defense www.flickr.com/photos/_beate_/4356014566/in/set-721576233... .

So Beate today is special day for you: Happy Birthday – Alles, alles Liebe und Gute von der Flickr-Gemeinde!!! Maybe you can see the line in the sky on my picture over Bavarian fairytale landscape. Actually I told the pilot to make a heart in the sky. But he said he’s got his flying licence for just six months and it is too early for these kind of things. But the line is nice too as it perfectly symbolizes your wonderful Flickr-stream !!!!

Thank you all my dears Flickr friends for your sweet comments! I do appreciate them very, very much

The ancient Roman city of Iesso, mentioned by classic authors Pliny the Elder and Ptolemy, identified by the preserved archaeological site in the village of Guissona.

Iesso was founded around the year 100 BC exploiting the natural resources of the flat Guissona: the presence of abundant water and ease for the exploitation of agricultural land nearby. This city has developed over more than seven centuries an important and constructive business. The current state of research allows noted that the Roman city of Iesso is walled and polygonal form a plant of about 15 and 18 are long, with a regular urban development characterized by a network of orthogonal streets, according to the models of the Roman cities of the time. To the second century BC and first century BC, is the foundation of the Roman city of IESSO. A city perfectly organized and structured with orthogonal streets, with a wall that protects the city center, with areas of cemeteries and public spaces. Its economy is based on agriculture, although there are also small articles such as pottery and domestic looms. This city has a very long endurance reaching s. VI AD. After that date there is a little-known period archaeologically and historically, that extends until S.XI. It is the period of confrontation between the Arab world and the counties feudal Catalans, and our land becomes "no man's land", where the border between the two worlds. The story continues to s. XI, particularly between 1010 and 1023, in which there is a process of recovery from the county of Urgell. Finding a strategic defensive and is a sufficient defense tower or castle in the current PL. of Capdevila, around which the people were rising. Guissona is set to Closa medieval village.Since the eleventh century until the thirteenth, the domain of the village of Guissona is shared between the Bishop of Urgell and the family Fluvià. In this double lordship is in our arms, showing the lineage of Fluvià (the waves of water) and the domain of the bishop (the Greek cross). From s. XIII, the lordship passed entirely into the hands of the bishop, which explains the presence of several palaces Episcopal our people. The last of these palaces are built around the seventeenth century and occupied the land where currently there is the Plaza del Obispo Benlloch, the City Council and the Catholic Center. We must stress also the work of Fluvià, an episcopal palace unfinished initiated by Bishop Peter Cardona with a style of detransició beginning of the s. XVI, the work that still rest with us. Another example of the importance of this domain is the religious renewal that affects the parish church. At the end of the s. XVIII, the former Romanesque church dedicated to s. XI is demolished and in its place is a temple built in neoclassical style, the majestic dimensions that still exists today. Especially the Baroque altarpiece of Solomonic dedicated to the Virgin

Lord make me an instrument of your peace,

Where there is hatred let me sow love.

Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is doubt, faith.

Where there is despair, hope.

Where there is darkness, light.

And where there is sadness, joy.

O divine master grant that I may

not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

to be understood as to understand;

To be loved as to love

For it is in giving that we receive-

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.

And it's in dying that we are

born to eternal life.

Amen

A monarch feeds on one of the many flowers at Mizell Farms near Folsom, Louisiana.

On Sept. 11th Mizell Farms wiil have a Hummungbird Festival. The birds will live trapped, ID'd, weighed and tagged and turned loose. I believe LSU is doing the bird handling. They do this each year and normally catch about 50 to 70 birds. They are not harmed and it is done for science and hummingbird studies.

At Al Sheikh Jaber Stadium parking, where was over 100 exotic, muscle car and motorbike, was held Kuwait Unlimited 2nd Auto & Motorcycle show. I went to take photos for the races that I thought they were held. When I reached, I discovered it was just car gathering. There were many beautiful cars there, but the best cars were a combo of 8 GTRs. I tried to get a photo for all of them and I managed. After I had done, I saw a GT-R was leaving. It was from Dubai. Originally, I took this photo for the car's plate. But I after I saw it again, I liked its awesome Depth of Field. It was my first day to use my new lens, Nikkor AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6G .

This is one of three Lladro figurines which unfortunately was broken by my three year old niece on one of her daring escapades. This one sustained the most damage. My mom collects these and she was just heartbroken. My dad was able to glue her head seamlessly but the lower part of her body shattered. He tried to painstakingly glue the pieces together but it's almost impossible to mend the minute pieces. She was able to stand on her own feet again however, it left two gaping holes on her flowing gown. She holds a candle which represents hope. The hope that everything can heal and mend.. in time. She's shining brightly (thanks to photoshop) with all her glory. She is once again whole.

This is a little preview of my new set that I'll be uploading sometime soon.

I'm sorry, I haven't posted a photograph on flickr in a long time. Or looked through everyones photographs. I've moved to France and have been traveling for months covering over 50,000 km's by car, train, bus or our foot, whatever was the cheapest and sometimes most expensive. I've written all about my experiences in my daily blogs that you can see by visiting my website (link in my profile) You can also see some photos in there if the section is open.

I've covered over 17 countries since getting to Bordeaux in July. Some of these countries include: Switzerland, Iceland, the entire U.K. from top to bottom side to side. Ireland and even the Faroe Islands. To some favorites like exploring Amsterdam, twice and visiting nearly every corner of Germany.

but...

Before posting some of my over 10,000 photos, ha ha...

I want to say goodbye to Toronto.

So the next series I'm gonna post is called "Goodbye Toronto" and you can watch the light disappear, twice.

Enjoy and thanks for taking the time to read and look at my photos.

Every comment is appreciated.

The Corvair FC's were designed to compete with the Volkswagen Transporter/Microbus/Pickup type II vehicle of the time. Chevrolet did some market research and determined that those who bought the VW products did so because they had more interior volume than a pickup based sedan delivery, were smaller outside, were more economical and easier to handle in city traffic. VW owners complained about the type II's lack of power, lack of an automatic transmission, small load rating and the relative uselessness of the pickup body.

The Chevrolet reply to the Volkswagen is really very much like a modern minivan or mini pickup. It has 80-110 horsepower, 130-160 lb-ft of torque (depending on year and engine option), weighs 2800-3000 lb, and has similar exterior dimensions to a Plymouth Grand Voyager. Unlike the modern vehicles, though, all Corvair FC's have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4600 lb, which works out to about a 3/4 ton payload. All Corvair 95's with stock paint were delivered in two-tone: one of about six colors with a white accent stripe. A white body was also available, which came with a red accent stripe. The Greenbrier Sportswagon was available with a limited range of the Corvair car colors for that year. The same accent stripe color rule applied. Fleet purchases could be any color or combination by special order, and were indicated by special codes stamped onto the body dataplate on the front cowl. So if you look in the book to find the original paint color for your FC Corvair and discover that the number on the body data tag (which is located on the kick panel by the handbrake) isn't in the book, chances are your truck was factory painted in some commercial livery. These numbers are decodable by Chevrolet, should you desire to reproduce the original paint.

The Corvair 95 Corvan panel van (model R1205) was an industrial delivery van and was produced 1961-1964. It had a lot of volume in a relatively small package and had a loading height of only 18" above the pavement into the side doors. It could be optioned from bare-bones (no heater, no radio, single speed wipers, painted bumpers) to pretty nice (chrome bumpers and trim, dual speed wipers with washer, direct air or gasoline heater, second and third bench seats, side and rear doors with windows). Normal Corvans have six doors: two front, two on the right side, and two rear. A second pair of side barn-doors was available on the driver's side as an option. Ma Bell bought quite a few Corvans.

The Corvan was also available with a full-window option, which made it look like a Greenbrier. But the comfort options had to be individually checked off just as with the panel van. The four square side windows didn't roll down unless you bought the "roll- down windows" option. The window option Corvan was primarily intended for ambulance and taxi use.

FC engines were the same size as the Corvair car engines of that year: 145 c.i. from 1961-1963, and 164 c.i. in 1964 and 1965. In all year models they have a special oil filler/dipstick tube location: a 1" hole on the right rear of the crankcase. This allows the engine oil to be checked and adjusted on an fc without raising the rear cargo deck, which is normally screwed down and is raised only for maintainance items like changing air cleaners, synchronizing carburetors, or overly intrusive concours inspections at CORSA meets. FC's also have a special low-height version of the 1961-1963 car air cleaner system to make the drivetrain fit under the deck.

Early Corvair 95s and Greenbrier Sportswagons were only available with one engine: a heavy-duty truck rated version of the 80 hp base car engine. Compared to the car engine, the FC version had exhaust valves of tougher metal, exhaust valve rotators, reduced compression, and richer carburetor jetting. As with the cars, the 1961-62 Forward Controls came with the highly efficient "folded-fin" oil cooler. 1963 models were equipped with the 8-plate cooler.

The 1964 and 1965 standard engine was the 95 hp base sedan engine with the same modifications mentioned above, except that they use the "heavy duty" 12-plate oil cooler. Greenbriers were also available with the 110 hp engine as an option. 1965 Greenbriers (and therefore all 1965 FC's) have alternators, all other years and models have generators.

All years and models came with a 3-speed manual transmission as standard equipment, with optional 4-speed manual and Powerglide automatic transmissions. Three final-drive ratios were available: 3.27:1 (default with '61 four-speed Greenbriers--good for highway cruising), 3.55:1 (default for all other FC's) and 3.89:1 (for heavy towing or mountain climbing). Manual transmission FC's had different gear ratios than the cars of that year to better match the power curve of the engine to the larger tires and greater weight of the vehicle. Powerglides were equipped with a special external fluid cooler under the battery box.

our heavenly wolf creek pass.....just 28 miles from pagosa springs =o)

Me an' Earl was haulin' chickens,

On the flatbed 1 out o' Wiggins 2 ,

An' we'd spent all night on the uphill side,

O' thirty-seven miles o' hell called Wolf Crick Pass 3 ,

Which is up on the Great Divide.

We's a-settin' there suckin' toothpicks,

An' drinkin' Nehis 4 an' onion soup mix.

An' I says, "Earl, let's mail a card to Mother,

Then sen' them chickens on down t'other side.

Yeah, let's give 'em a ride."

Wolf Crick Pass, way up on the Great Divide.

Truckin' on down the other side.

Well, Earl put down his bottle,

Mashed his foot down on the throttle.

Then a couple'a boobs 5 an' a thousan' cubes 6 ,

In a nineteen-forty-eight Peterbilt 7 screamed to life.

We woke up the chickens.

We roared up off o' that shoulder,

Sprayin' pine cones, rocks, an' boulders,

An' put four hundred head o' them Rhode Island Reds 8 ,

An' a couple o' burnt-out roosters on the line.

Look out below. 'Cause here we go!

Wolf Crick Pass, way up on the Great Divide.

Truckin' on down the other side.

Well, we commenced ta truckin',

An' them hens commenced ta cluckin'.

An' then Earl took out a match an' scratched his pants,

An' lit up the unused half of a dollar cigar an' took a puff.

Says "My, ain't this pretty up here."

I says, "Earl, this hill can spill us.

You better slow down or you gon' kill us.

Just make one mistake an' it's the Pearly Gates,

For them eighty-five crates o' USDA 9 -approved cluckers.

You wanna hit second?"

Wolf Crick Pass, way up on the Great Divide.

Truckin' on down the other side.

Well, Earl grabbed on the shifte

An' he stabbed her into fifth gear,

An' then the chromium-plated, fully-illuminated,

Genuine accessory shift knob come right off in his hand.

I says, "You wanna screw that thing back on, Earl?"

He was tryin' to thread it on there,

When the fire fell off o' his cigar,

An' dropped on down, sorta rolled around,

An' lit in the cuff of Earl's pants an' burned a hole in his sock.

Yeah, sorta set him right on fire.

I looked on out ta winda.

An' I started a-countin' phone poles,

Goin' by at the rate of four to the seventh power.

Well, I put 2 an' 2 together, an' added twelve an' carried five.

Come up with twenty-two thousand telephone poles an hour.

I looked at Earl an' his eyes was wide,

His lip was curled, an' his leg was fried.

An' his hands was froze to the wheel,

Like a tongue to a sled in the middle of a blizzard.

I says, "Earl, I'm not the type to complain,

But the time has come for me to explain,

That if you don't apply some brake real soon,

They gonna have to pick us up with a stick an' a spoon."

Well, Earl rared back, cocked his leg,

Stepped down as hard as he could on the brake,

An' the pedal went clear to the floor,

An' it stayed right there on the floor. 10

He says, "It's sorta like steppin' on a plum."

Well, from there on down it's just not real pretty,

It was hairpin county an' switchback city. 11

One of 'em looked like a can full o' worms.

Another one looked like malaria germs.

An' right in the middle of the whole damn show,

Was a real nice tunnel, now wouldn't you know?

Sign says, "Clearance to the twelve-foot line,"

But the chickens

was stacked to thirteen-nine.

Well we shot that tunnel at a hundred-n'-ten,

Like gas through a funnel an' eggs through a hen,

We took that top row of chickens off,

Slicker than scum off a Lousiana swamp.

Went down an' around an' around an' down,

An' we run out o' groun' at the edge of town.

Bashed on into the side of a feed store,

In downtown Pagosa Springs 12 .

Wolf Crick Pass, way up on the Great Divide.

Truckin' on down the other side.

Truckin' on down the other side.

The working day on Brunette Downs station begins well before dawn. The cook is cranking out a hot breakfast from about 4.15 a.m. By sunrise, the boremen and the grader drivers are heading out; the mechanic’s wondering which engine to fix first as the pilot taxis down the runway, watched only by kangaroos; and the ringers are in the saddle (horse and motorbike) mustering at the yards or with helicopters in distant paddocks.

Coutesy of Australian National Geographic

“That’s just working with nature,” Brunette’s manager Henry Burke says, explaining the early call. Cattle are more active when it’s cool. No animal, two or four legged, is eager to put one foot in front of the other when the sun is on high grill out here.

Covering 12,212 sq. km of the Barkly Tableland, in the Northern Territory, Brunette Downs is one of Australia’s largest cattle stations and bigger than some countries. It’s one of several Barkly properties owned by the Brisbane-based beef-producing Australian Agricultural Company (AAco), which controls 77,000 sq. km – about 1 per cent of Australia’s land area – across Queensland and the NT.

Brunette runs 72,500 head of cattle, including the 6500 bull-breeding herd, and lies about 430 km north-west of the mining metropolis of Mount Isa, a dusty six-and-a-half-hour drive, and 350 km north-east of Tennant Creek’s bare-essentials hospital. In between, civilisation holds on by the skin of its teeth. A sign at the top of Brunette’s 10 km long driveway proclaims Sorry No Fuel, although 120,000 L of diesel are stored on-site. A cattle station’s first obligation is to its own community.

About 52 people work and live at Brunette during the reliably dry March–November ‘on’ season. Most are young, single and male: those who aren’t understand that here stockmen rule and the rest serve. Station employees receive free housing and food and a daily wage that starts from $150 a day for those aged over 21.

Fringed by horse yards, workshops, generators, dry stores and cool stores, and serviced by fleets of small aircraft and large vehicles, including a road train, Brunette is more oasis township than lonely outpost. Its neat rows of offices and company houses are linked by well-watered lawns, rose beds, trellised bougainvillea and mature trees. At the centre of the complex are blocks of dormitory accommodation, a health clinic, butchery, commercial-grade kitchen and the social club – an open-sided shed where alcohol from a lock-up bar is served for one hour at sundown. The illusion of connectedness is powerful: common rooms and offices have internet access and TVs, and the workers’ quarters have phones. Beyond the boundaries of this small community, it’s flat for as far as the eye can see and all the clichés about heat, dust and flies stick.

KEFD 23/10/16 Wings Over Houston 2016.

Taken from the Texas Raiders website, b17texasraiders.org/index.php/texas-raiders/history/history

This aircraft begin it's military career as B-17G-95-DL 44-83872. It was manufactured by Douglas Aircraft Corporation at Long Beach, California. (under license from Boeing Aircraft Corporation, Seattle, Washington) where it was delivered to the U.S. Army Air Corps on July 12, 1945. On July 21, 1945, this aircraft was transferred to the U.S. Navy.

Following Navy acceptance, '872 became PB-1 BuNo 77235. The aircraft was converted from PB-1 to PB-1-W which consisted of sealing the bombay doors, additional long-range fuel tanks and the installation of APS-20 search Radar with the rotating scanner located in a bulbous housing below the former bomb bay. '872 was one of the first "AWAC" aircraft.

On July 11, 1952 the '872 was transferred to and flew with the the newly formed Seasearch-Early Warning, VW-2 on the Atlantic seaboard until June 3, 1953 when it under went it's second major overhaul.

The second major overhaul was completed on January 15, 1954. After this overhaul the '872 was transferred to Atsugi, Japan where it flew with VW-1 (which was the last operational assignment for this aircraft).

On January 15, 1955, PB-1W arrived at the Storage Facility at Litchfield Park, Arizona where it was maintained in Flyable Storage Status until stricken from record on July 14, 1955 and was officially retired from Naval service on August 25, 1955 following 77 months of service where this aircraft acquired 3,257 hours of flying time.

On October 1, 1957, this aircraft was acquired by Aero Services Corp. (a branch of Litton Industries) and used as a cargo plane and aerial photographic aircraft. Upon entry into the civilian aviation fleet the aircraft was given the identification registration number and call sign N-7227-C.

While in the service of the Aero Services Corp., 27-C was used as a high altitude mapping aircraft and completed assignments in the North West United States, Venezuela, and the length of Chile. Another life cycle for 27-C began when it was converted into an aerial platform for all kinds of satellite tracking equipment.

The University of Alaska contracted 7227-C to participate in the recording of the eclipse of the sun from a flight position over Northern Canada. Next, the aircraft participated in the oil and natural gas survey for the North Sea Project off western Norway and Scotland.

During the aerial photographic era, the aircraft acquired the first complete photographic coverage of the South American continent along with extensive coverage of Central America and the northern regions of North America. The aircraft was used as a electronic geophysical and magnetometer platform for field surveys in the North Sea area north and east of Scotland along with extensive coverage of the North slope regions of Alaska. It was instrumental in acquiring data which lead to the discoveries of some of the major petroleum reserves in the world.

On September 22, 1967, N7227-C was acquired by the Commemorative Air Force, Mercedes, Texas from Litton Industries for the price of $50,000. It was the first B-17 to be purchased and operated solely for the purpose of preservation. The aircraft was painted in military colors and nose markings were applied as "Texas Raiders" with a Texas State flag by the CAF in 1970. During WW II no B-17 carried the name of Texas Raiders.

After a period of time the Texas Raiders was assigned to the Gulf Coast Wing of the Commemorative Air Force in Houston, Texas. The Gulf Coast Wing has continued to upgrade and restored the aircraft to it's original combat configuration by adding the ball turret and top turret. All of the work was carried out by the volunteers of the CAF group in Houston. At the present time, the top turret is undergoing assembly prior to installation on the aircraft. This will complete the last major restoration item within the aircraft. When completed, TEXAS RAIDERS will be one of only a few B-17s which have operational top and ball turrets.

The Texas Raiders does not have an oxygen system for its crew and is restricted to altitudes below 12,000 feet. The only hydraulic systems on board the aircraft are the brakes and the cowl flaps for the four engines. All other systems aboard the aircraft are either electrical or mechanical.

The "TR" has undergone two major restorations. The first lasted three years (1983-86) and converted the "cargo" B-17 airframe to a fully restored "combat" B-17G . This restoration was done with volunteer labor and cost in excess of $300,000. In 1993, the second restoration was carried out. The nine month effort was primarily to repaint the aircraft and complete the interior restoration of the bomber. Costs of the restoration was $180,000. This restoration was documented by Public Television and the documentary "Honor Squadron" was produced. At the conclusion to the restoration, the aircraft returned to the airshow circuit where it was awarded "Best Bomber" by the Experimental Aircraft Association's Sun and Fun Air Show and "Aircraft of the Year" by the Tico airshow in Florida.

In 2001, the Gulf Coast Wing received a federally required inspection of the aircraft's wing spars and associated structures. This inspection was called an "AD" (Airworthiness Directive). Starting in early 2002 and progressing through to October of 2009, volunteer wing members and contract workers mostly disassembled the bomber, correcting corrosion and structural cracks at a cost of nearly $700,000. This Flying Fortress became airworthy on October 14, 2009 and has appeared at major airshows, and touring-locations throughout Texas and the Midwestern U.S, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the first flight of the B-17 in the summer of 2010

In memory of those who perished 32 years ago today, 30th September, R.I.P.

At about 3am on the 30th September 1976 the Admiral Van Tromp, a new powerful Scarborough trawler ran aground on the scaur at Black Nab, Saltwick Bay. There was thick fog and a heavy swell running.

The Whitby lifeboat, William & Mary Durham, was launched and both Whitby's and Robin Hood's Bay's coastguards were called out. Several rocket lines were fired by the coastguards, but the crew of five trapped in the wheel house, were unable to reach them. The Watson type lifeboat tried to reach the trawler by dropping anchor and drifting back to the wreck. On the first attempt the line parted. A stronger anchor from one of the trawlers standing off was used and Cox'n Robert Allen tried again. However the sea was too strong. With waves washing over her and three of the crew injured the lifeboat got to within 30 feet of the stricken vessel.

As daylight broke the Van Tromp lay on her side with waves breaking over her. One of the crew was spotted clinging to Black Nab, he was saved by the crew of the inshore lifeboat who drove the D class lifeboat at full speed onto a ledge and the man was grabbed just as a large wave broke over the boat and washed it back into the waters. The other four were washed ashore, but sadly two did not survive.

A silver medal was awarded to coxswain Robert Allen and a bronze medal to helmsman Richard Robinson for gallantry.

God, I’m worse than a teenage girl with all these hormonal hissy fits. I don’t expect anyone to care about this or to read this brainfart, but it kinda helps me put things in perspective and work things out.

I think I’m having a love hate relationship with flickr and photography at the mo. I’m calling on Flickr to employ a therapist that could help me through my photography journey and through the fuked up world that is flickrland....,then again I could just take my head out my of ass and do some thinking for myself.

I seem to have come to a stumbling block with my photography and think I might be blaming it on flickr to a certain extent. In fact I guess i’m just frustrated and disappointed in myself. I feel like I’ve experienced a speeded up version of photography learning over the past 14 months. You get to a stage quite quickly of being able to compose a shot, to expose it how you want and actually take shots that your mates go... ‘Wow!’ or ‘You are really good’.... but it’s a bit of scam really, It isn’t hard to do that. I know I could go out to take powerful, appealing images.... but i don’t want to. I want to play, experiment and express myself in ways that aren’t about producing pretty or perfect pictures that impress people. But it isn’t that easy, i get sucked in to it and flickr sometimes doesn’t’ help that. I have so many projects and ideas that I would have given a go a year ago, but now there is some sort of expectation on me (only put on by myself, i guess) I find it harder to get out there and do it. Procrastination strikes then the all too familiar feelings of frustration and resentment kick in. i want to get rid of that....

Anycheese, just feel like I had so much excitement at the beginning, I got wowed out that it was possible to capture moment, a mood, to express a feeling or even just capture a pretty scene. I really didn’t care whether others would like it or whether it was any good or not. I want that freedom and awe back. I’m going back to basics. I;m going to take shots for whatever reason i want, maybe just coz it’s pretty, maybe because it has a deep psychological meaning behind it or maybe just because it makes me smile.

Although Flickr can sometimes exacerbate the over inflation of one’s own talent & ability and encourage one down the path of least resistance of popularity and conformity, it does has its major plus points. Not just the incredible photography that does crop up... but the inspiration of people that shoot what they love, for themselves, no matter how others perceive it. I respect those that do that. I’m also astonished at how i really do feel a friendship to some people on here that i;ve never even met, and genuinely feel a care and interest for.... and that gives this place quite a unique, if not scary, appeal.

*Thanks for the comments and flickrmails recently, I really have appreciated it.

OoOo On Black

Today was a good day! The sun was shining, the birds were singing, it was 70 degrees out, and things are blooming!! I just love this time of year. I mean, to watch the world around you wake up and rejoice, is just amazing. Adam and I took a little romp around the neighborhood this afternoon and this pear tree caught my eye, The blooms were so pretty and were popping out everywhere. Hope you guys enjoy looking at them as much as I did!

Oh, and I'm on Adele kick these days. Enjoy the lyrics to another one of her songs!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Found myself today singing out your name,

You said I'm crazy,

If I am I'm crazy for you.

Sometimes sitting in the dark wishing you were here

Turns me crazy,

But it's you who makes me lose my head.

And every time I'm meant to be acting sensible

You drift into my head

And turn me into a crumbling fool.

Tell me to run and I'll race,

If you want me to stop I'll freeze,

And if you are me gonna leave, just hold me closer baby,

And make me crazy for you.

Crazy for you.

Lately with this state I'm in I can't help myself but spin.

I wish you'd come over,

Send me spinning closer to you.

My oh my, how my blood boils, it's sweet taste for you,

Strips me down bare

And gets me into my favourite mood.

I keep on trying, fighting these feelings away,

But the more I do,

The crazier I turn into.

Pacing floors and opening doors,

Hoping you'll walk through

And save me boy,

Because I'm too crazy for you.

Crazy for you

i was walking down this street and at some point this passage-way between houses turns up, and the little kid was walking with his back towards me.. it took me a few seconds to prepare my camera, and by than, the kid was facing me, and he stood there frozen, probably wondering what the heck i was doing (maybe he didn't even realise i was taking a photo because i was quite far away and in the shadow).. anyway, i took two shots and went on my way..

(this is one more of those shots that i love more than i can express into words)

STICK MY WORLD presenta "Satoboy versus Biodpi", urban street art expo, vernissage domenica 8 febbraio @ GlamSet - Corso Principe Amedeo 277, Cava de Tirreni (Salerno), a partire dalle ore 21 e 30.

THRASHER by Neil Young

They were hiding behind hay bales,

They were planting in the full moon

They had given all they had for something new

But the light of day was on them,

They could see the thrashers coming

And the water shone like diamonds in the dew.

And I was just getting up, hit the road before it's light

Trying to catch an hour on the sun

When I saw those thrashers rolling by,

Looking more than two lanes wide

I was feelin' like my day had just begun.

Where the eagle glides ascending

There's an ancient river bending

Down the timeless gorge of changes

Where sleeplessness awaits

I searched out my companions,

Who were lost in crystal canyons

When the aimless blade of science

Slashed the pearly gates.

It was then I knew I'd had enough,

Burned my credit card for fuel

Headed out to where the pavement turns to sand

With a one-way ticket to the land of truth

And my suitcase in my hand

How I lost my friends I still don't understand.

They had the best selection,

They were poisoned with protection

There was nothing that they needed,

Nothing left to find

They were lost in rock formations

Or became park bench mutations

On the sidewalks and in the stations

They were waiting, waiting.

So I got bored and left them there,

They were just deadweight to me

Better down the road without that load

Brings back the time when I was eight or nine

I was watchin' my mama's T.V.,

It was that great Grand Canyon rescue episode.

Where the vulture glides descending

On an asphalt highway bending

Thru libraries and museums, galaxies and stars

Down the windy halls of friendship

To the rose clipped by the bullwhip

The motel of lost companions

Waits with heated pool and bar.

But me I'm not stopping there,

Got my own row left to hoe

Just another line in the field of time

When the thrashers comes, I'll be stuck in the sun

Like the dinosaurs in shrines

But I'll know the time has come

To give what's mine.

[I've always loved this song and its lyrics, so beautiful and gentle.]

It was chaos in our living room. Most of the family was there, and we're not a quiet bunch. Everyone's a communicator and everyone was communicating. The adults were involved in several conversations at once. Our two young grandsons were playing with -- let's call it enthusiasm -- maybe hoping to command a little attention. Surveying the uproar in our living room, I suddenly noticed a precious scene in the corner. It was our son with his dark-haired infant daughter, sprawled peacefully in her Daddy's arms. First they had been cheek to cheek, then she just simply fell asleep, oblivious to the storm around her, and safe in her Daddy's arms.

Our granddaughter felt safe, not because she wasn't in the middle of chaos -- believe me, she was -- but because of the security she has being in her Father's arms. It's a kind of security maybe you can only wish for right now because everything around you is up for grabs. Divorce can do that. A bad report from the doctor can do that, losing your job, losing someone you love, facing some frightening unknowns -- so many upheavals that can stress us, scare us, sink us. They remind us of a search we've been all our whole life -- the search for a safe place, no matter how out of control things around us may become -- the search for peace.

That search will not end until you are safe in your Father's arms -- Heavenly Father, that is. You weren't made to navigate life's white water alone. You were made for an intimate, trusting love relationship with the God who created you. The peace we need so badly is exactly what Jesus Christ promised to every person who belongs to Him. In John 14:27, our word for today from the Word of God, Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." Let those words sink into your storm-battered soul. "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you." That peace is within your reach this very day.

The peace that may have eluded you your whole life is within your reach today. It's peace that can only be found, that can always be found, in your Daddy's arms.

This administration and congress has already outspent all previous 43 presidents combined

"Stimulus" is spent on bailing out failed social experiments and entitlement sinkholes by state governments controlled by "progressives"

Obama promised unemployment would not exceed 8% - now its 9.5% and rising

Obama said it was mandatory that the 10 to 20 trillion dollar (with debt servicing) "stimulus" was passed right away or we are doomed - it was voted on and passed without those voting in the affirmative for it even reading it.

Once passed, the vast majority of the "stimulus" spending is deferred to 2010 which coincidentally is an election year for the politicians who voted for passage. An inference is that the only crisis was the socialists getting reelected after their policy of fascism failed to turn around the economy. A study of history will reveal their concern - no fascist/socialist enterprise has been successful at improving the quality of life for its citizens at any time in human history. No civilization has successfully taxed and spent its way out of a recession in the history of humanity.

Those who hold America's debt are frantically calling for a "world currency", knowing full well, that the certain forthcoming hyperinflation in America will significantly devalue the US Dollar and their investments will then be worth pennies on the dollar.

Now, Obama says that health care must be nationalized right away or we are doomed.

Now, Obama says that Sotomayor must be confirmed right away or we are doomed.

Now, Obama says that Cap and Trade (destroy and nationalize the energy sector) bill must be passed right away or we are doomed.

Now, Obama says that trillions of dollars of new taxes must be passed right away or we are doomed. These new taxes are on top of the trillions of dollars in new taxes that were already included in his "stimulus" bill and budget.

Is there a pattern? Does "we" refer to his constituents or perhaps himself and his political cronies?

No civilization has reversed a downward unemployment spiral by shrinking its private sector and growing its government bureaucracy.

The countries who have tried the fascist/socialist experiment are now moving back to more capitialistic free market policies - why? because shrinking their private sector and burdening it with increased government confiscatory/redistribution policies created misery in the form of unemployment, loss of individual freedom, lower quality of life and medical care rationing, shortages and misery.

Biden: We have to keep spending money to keep from going bankrupt.

Obama: We must pass nationalized health care so we can reduce costs. (We must do it now or we are doomed)

CBO Chief: Health Bills To Increase Federal Costs

wiki.answers.com/Q/Name_and_explain_two_effects_of_price_...

When thinking about price controls, think of the supply and demand curves and remember that with a price control, it is impossible for a price to get into equilibrium. With that in mind, we can identify two problems that result from this.

1. A shortage/oversupply of the good. If there is a price ceiling, you have a shortage (a la gasoline during the price controls of the 70's.) If there is a floor, you have overproduction (a la ethanol. Which, granted, is subsidized, but that is effectively like a price floor). *Note* also consider the housing markets where rent control is present.

2. An inefficient allocation of resources. With ethanol being subsidized, we witnessed a massive increase in the price of corn. The market did not want this, and thus we saw an inefficient allocation of resources.

Should National Health Care pass in this country, I will not know where or when I will die, but I will know how - substandard medical care, denial of care, lack of r&d due to price controls and rationing emposed by the government - all based on decisions by bureaucrats, actuaries, accountants and political appointees who I do not know and who do not know me or my specific needs or wishes ... and more importantly do not care ... they care only about passing the next government audit cycle for cost control.

Wicklow, Irish: Cill Mhantáin, meaning "church of the toothless one"[1][2]) is the county town of County Wicklow in Ireland. Located south of Dublin on the east coast of the island, it has a population of 10,070 according to the 2006 census.[3] The town is situated to the east of the N11 route between Dublin and Wexford. Wicklow is also connected to the rail network, with Dublin commuter services now extending to the town. Additional services connect with Arklow, Wexford and Rosslare Europort, a main ferry port. There is also a commercial port, mainly importing timber and textiles.

The Viceregal Lodge, Obervatory Hill, Shimla, India, by Henry Irwin. Completed 1888; tower height increased later by Lord Curzon. Local grey sandstone and light blue limestone, with iron girders, beams, and trusses.

Built on a high 331-acre site, levelled for the purpose, this mock-Tudor or baronial-style building is visible from far down the hillside, and was intended as a proud symbol of Empire. Over the portico at the main entrance is a coat of arms with inscriptions above it naming the architect (Irwin), the executive and assistant engineers (F. B. Hebbert and others) and the Earl of Dufferin as the current Viceroy. Dufferin was the first to occupy the new Lodge. The columned arches along the façade are echoed in the arches of alternating widths supporting the verandas. Just visible to the left of the main entrance, on the first floor, is one of the unobtrusive external iron spiral staircases provided for the lowliest menial staff, the bathroom sweepers.

Inside, the main hall is panelled in teak. The unicorn originally carved over the impressive main fireplace has since been replaced by the Indian wheel of progress. The double-galleried corridor off to the left is lit by mullioned windows and a glass ceiling, and leads to the ballroom, now the library of the Institute of Advanced Studies. On the ground floor were also the dining hall, lounge and drawing room. On the upper floors were the Viceroy's office and rooms. To the right of the main hall is a splendid three-storey high teak staircase, the kind of feature, no doubt, that earned Irwin his eulogy in the Madras Mail, to the effect that his genius was displayed in his interiors. In the morning room and visitors' lounge on this side, finishing touches like a walnut ceiling with a Kashmiri design, lavish wall-coverings (some of which remain more or less intact), an original chandelier and so on, can still be seen. Maple & Co, London, were the western suppliers. A large picture of one of the Vicereines, Lady Elgin, hangs over the fireplace of the visitors' lounge.

For its day, the Lodge had state-of-the-art technology. It had its own steam generator, and was the first building in Shimla to employ electric lighting. Indeed, Lady Dufferin, the first Vicereine in residence, is said to have first used an electric light switch here. The original light panel is still in place (with an added fusebox). The Lodge also had running hot and cold water, together with a sophisticated system for collecting and storing bath and rainwater, including two tanks under the front lawn.

Outside in the landscaped grounds stands a tall tulip tree, a rarity in an area dominated by pines and deodars. It was planted during the stay of the Marquis of Lansdowne, the Viceroy who replaced Dufferin in 1888.

ENGLISH

Lanuza is a small village located in the Pyrenean of Huesca, Aragón, Spain. It is in the left border of the marsh to which it gives name, in that dam up waters of the Gállego river. Lanuza belongs to the municipal term of Sallent de Gállego, in the region of High Gállego.

The name of Lanuza seems to derive from the latinized celtic term moor or wool, that means “slope”, occurring the circumstance that the surrounding place to the town (today submerged) was in its day occupied by extensive prairies and grass. Its existence appears documented from 13th century and in 1488 already it counted on 20 homes. Along with Sallent, it formed one of the three historical "quiñones" in which the Valley of Tena was divided administratively.

Prosperously and eminently cattle dealer in her origins, the construction of the dam in 1976 caused the gradual and forced unhabitation of the locality until being vacated completely in 1978. Victim of plunder and the abandonment, in the decade of the 90 old inhabitants was able to recover the not submerged properties and initiate a revitalization process still active.

CASTELLANO

Situated at "la Pointe-à-Jacquot", this beautiful building of the neo-gothic revival style is still a gathering point for the Acadian community of Bouctouche.

Formerly the Convent of the Immaculate Conception, it played an important role in the Acadian renaissance. The Museum offers an insight into life at a boarding school in the 19th and 20th century and gives an overview of the regional way of life. Its Chapel has been recognized as an architectural gem.

History

Marguerite Maillet, a teacher, donated a 40-acre piece of land for the construction of a convent. Soon afterwards, she becomes a nun with the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception (SCIC) and takes the name of Sister Marie-Julienne. In 1892, she is named Sister Superior at the Bouctouche convent, a position she will hold until her death in 1911.

. .. * .. * .. * .. * .. * .. * .. * .. Nembo GT 1968 .. * .. * .. * .. * .. * .. * .. * .. * ..

Chasis estrenar y motor boxer Lancia Flavia

¿Casualidad o destino?

The Riverfront Park Rotary Fountain is located on Howard Street at the South entrance to Riverfront Park. It is a popular attraction for beating the Summer heat. The kids love it!

Dedicated on September 1st, 2005 to “the people of Spokane” and under the care of the Spokane Parks Department, the fountain is destined to be a popular attraction for many years to come. The Downtown Spokane Rotary Club 21 and the Spokane Parks Department worked together to make the fountain a reality. Financial support was also provided by numerous donors whose names appear around the fountain. Harold Balazs is the artist.

The fountain has 5 stainless steel columns that are 24 feet tall. These support a 30 foot diameter ring containing 40 overhead jets. The jets spray towards the middle of the fountain producing a dome of water and a waterfall in the fountain’s center. Eight geysers shoot water upwards. The fountain also has dozens of mist jets, and the 5 boulders have jets that spray sideways. To conserve water, the fountain water is filtered and recirculated.

You can catch the fountain in action from Spring to Fall, 6am to midnight.

Riverfront Park is a public park in downtown Spokane, Washington. The 100 acre park is located along the Spokane River, not far up from the Spokane Falls. It was created for Expo '74, a World's Fair event. The defining feature of the park is the Pavilion, which is marked by a 145-foot-tall (44 m) metal frame and wire shell that formed the US Pavilion tent during Expo '74. The park is well known for the Riverfront Park Carousel, as well as an IMAX theatre, Clock tower, skyride over the falls, a small amusement park for kids, a skating rink during the winter months, and the Spokane River Centennial Trail which passes through it. This photo turned out pretty awesome in my opinion! I think it's my current favorite out of every photo I've done :).

This is a composite of 4 photos combined into 1. For the background I did a 3 photo panorama, then stitched them together, then I cut myself out of another photo I took this morning, and placed it as the foreground.

For the portrait, I stood in front of my garage, and used my brother as a stand in as I configured the lighting and composition, then I showed him what I wanted and had him snap the photo.

I went out for a bike ride to find an interesting background to bring the whole photo together...I found a few, but this one turned out the best :).

I spent a great deal of time on this photo, and I'm really proud of it :).

I hope you all enjoy!

I wonder when I'll be good enough...

*sigh* This is my "creative" photo for Day 8 of my 365.

I told you that stethoscope would be back =]

So, I slept until 1 in the afternoon today. I wanted to stay in bed all day and just.... I don't know, stay there?

My little sister wasn't home, so I had to clean the bathroom, kitchen and living room myself.

I don't mind it. I like to clean when I think or I'm stressed. Which I was both today.

I'm listening to "All The Same" by Sick Puppies. I'm kind addicted to this song. It's a good song to listen to if you're feeling the way I do right now.

"I don't mind where you come from

As long as you come to me.

I don't like illusions I can't see,

them clearly.

I don't care, no I wouldn't dare

To fix the twist in you.

You've shown me eventually,

What you'll do."

"And I'll take you for who you are

If you take me for everything..."

Anywho, my little sister is home now.... She wanted me to kill a bug for her. For being a used-to-be brown belt, she sure is a scardy-cat.

So I told her to do it herself.... She's using the vacuum. Go figure.

My mother and little sister went out to dinner with family friends tonight. It was pretty good...

Oh, and I weighed myself today. 136.8 pounds >.< That's 16.8 pounds heaver than what I want to be.

I'm still working on it.

My sister now has ANOTHER boyfriend.... Well, "boyfriend". She's confusing. But I love her. We tell each other everything.

Most things. Like 99%.

I'll never know some things about her, and vice verse.

She keeps talking about him. She knows I hate it when she does that. Kinda, showing off and bragging to me. She doesn't mean it though. I tell her. She knows how lonely I feel. How much I want "that someone".

So, it's 11.32 at night. Wow, the last time I looked at the clock, it was only 11.01.

I'll save my wish for another night.

I've brought a corrot to this Nutria..., everybody feeds the ducks and swans.., but nobody this poor little fellow....and he loved it... :-)

The coypu, or nutria (Myocastor coypus), is a large, herbivorous, semiaquatic rodent and the only member of the family Myocastoridae. Originally native to temperate South America, it has since been introduced to North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, primarily by fur ranchers.[2] Although it is still valued for its fur in some regions, its destructive feeding and burrowing behaviors make this invasive species a pest throughout most of its range.

There are two commonly-used names in the English language for Myocastor coypus. The name nutria (or local derivatives such as "nutria- or nutra- rat") is generally used in North America and Asia; however, in Spanish-speaking countries, the word nutria refers to the otter. To avoid this ambiguity, the name coypu (derived from the Mapudungun word kóypu)[3] is used in Latin America and Europe.[4] In France, the coypu is known as a ragondin. In Dutch it is known as beverrat (beaver rat). In Italy, instead, the popular name is, like in North America and Asia, nutria, but it is also called castorino (little beaver), by which its fur is known.

Nutria and the damage they cause, in particular the damage to the levees before Hurricane Katrina, were featured in a first season episode of the A&E Television series, Steven Seagal: Lawman. Some were shot by police officers and the dead animals were fed to alligators. Seagal, who is a practicing Buddhist, says he is opposed to personally harming another creature without cause and did not actually shoot them. However, he said that he was happy that the food chain was being respected.

The coypu somewhat resembles a very large rat. Adults are typically 5–9 kg (11–20 lb) in weight, and 40–60 cm (16–24 in) in body length, with a 30–45 cm (12–18 in) tail. They have a coarse, darkish brown outer fur with a soft under-fur. Two distinguishing marks are the presence of a white patch on the muzzle, and webbed hind feet. They can also be identified by their bright orange-yellow incisor teeth (unlike rats, which have brownish yellow incisors). The nipples of female coypu are high on her flanks. This allows their young to feed while the female is in the water.

Coypu can also be mistaken for another widely dispersed semi-aquatic rodent that occupies the same wetland habitats, the muskrat. The muskrat, however, is smaller, more tolerant of cold climates, and has a laterally flattened tail that it uses to assist in swimming, whereas the tail of a coypu is round. It can also be mistaken for a small beaver, as beavers and coypus have a very similar body design. They can be differentiated by the tail.

They are herbivorous, feeding on river plants, and live in burrows alongside stretches of water.

Rizal Park is situated in the heart of the city of Manila, Philippines. It is at the northern end of Roxas Boulevard, overlooking Manila Bay.

Rizal Park's history began in the early 1700s during the Spanish rule. While Manila's social and business activities were confined within Intramuros, a small area just south of the walls was cleared to prevent sneak attacks from the patriotic natives. The area was shaped like a small moon (lunette) and thus was named Luneta. The Park was also called Bagumbayan (English: New Town) in Spanish colonial era, and later known as Luneta.

Luneta has been the site of some of the most significant moments in Philippine history . Among them are the execution of Dr. José Rizal on December 30, 1896, whose martyred death made him a hero of the Philippine Revolution. (It was officially renamed Rizal Park in tribute to him.); the Declaration of Philippine Independence from American rule on June 4, 1946; and the political rallies of Ferdinand Marcos and Corazon Aquino in 1986.

The monument also serves as the point of origin or Kilometre Zero to all other cities in the Philippines

CASTELLANO
