You just cannot miss this LARGE ON BLACK: The Heliades I
Dear Flickr friends,
As promised, this is the first image coming from the project I've been working on, 'The Heliades'.
Here is the description of the series, the reason which stands/stood behind these works.
" While reading Ovid’s Metamorphoses, I came across an episode that changed my vision of my surroundings forever: the ‘Heliades’, daughters of the Sun, after the death of their brother Phaeton are transformed into Poplar trees on the banks of the Po river.
I have always loved to walk on those banks, but now, every time I stop and listen, it almost feels like I can hear their laments and whispers in the wind."
I'm also pleased to say that this series received four honorable mentions at the 2012 International Photography Awards.
Some self promotion: don't forget to take a look at My Facebook Page: Have a look and help me growing by sharing and liking it!
Hope you're all doing great.

Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir. Sudddenly, all people, coming and going, formed a perfect line of silhouettes. I took a shot and felt uneasy: there was really a weird sense of them being after me, vaguely threatening, oppressive, like an army of zombies with no face in the backlight ! A second later, the pattern broke down and they were just people enjoying the late sun...

i oftentimes look far and wide for magic in my life only to realize that it is everywhere and anywhere where i happen to be. the past week spent with four dear friends, great photographers, whom i've only known virtually on Flickr has been magical. we were blessed with gorgeous sun moments. the rains managed to stop when it was time for us to get our cameras and shoot. and we shared many a joyous moment. pretending to be castaways on this island. having a hard time opening a can of tuna. walking barefoot on a shore strewn with shells, driftwoods, black corals, flip-flops and what-have-you's. it was a magical time. and at that very instance when i took this shot, i was saying a prayer of thanksgiving for all the magical moments - and the friendships - which certainly will keep me on the hold for a lifetime.
and to those of you who haven't yet met my friends, here they are with me in this now famous jump shot - Mirror, mirror on the shore. . .

This was taken at Bristol Zoo. I'd gone to take pictures of the animals, and came back with, almost exclusively, pictures of people. So much for 'Watching the Animals', eh? : )
This was a deceptively busy walkway, but I managed to grab a couple of shots while sitting on the opposite bench.
Update:
At The Zoo : Watching The Animals is the image which, in significant part, provided the catalyst for the renewed enthusiasm in my photography.
Last year it made the finalists [and was featured in] The Independent Photography Competition. Then, this summer [2008], after being nudged by a good friend, I entered two images [among 1000s] into the Tate’s Street Or Studio competition, and it won through again. So, for a few weeks in the summer, you could see this image on show in Tate Modern! And, if that wasn’t surreal enough, in November it was projected to a size of about 15feet by 12feet for the official Street or Studio : A Photobook launch in Tate Britain… with the Turner Prize candidates through one adjacent archway, and a Francis Bacon retrospective the other… just bizarre! : )
Here's a link to the Tate's photobook: www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/387768
This is a fleshy perennial which grows on coastal cliffs and rocks ! The pale pink 5-petalled flower (8 - 12mm across) differs from other Sea spurreys in that it doesn't have a white centre ! The fact that the flowers have equal size petals and sepals also helps to differentiate this wildflower ! Each flower has 10 stamens, the narrow, flattened leaves have fine points and the plant, which blooms from June to September, reaches about 20cm high ! It is one of the native plants of Ireland and it belongs to the Caryophyllaceae family !
www.wildflowersofireland.net/index.php
Having purchased a wild flower book late last year, I was attracted to it being sectioned by colour, I decided to give it a go and found this little gem ! As part of I.D. clarification I found an interesting site from which I took the above info' and have E-mailed, providing my flickr account link, hoping that I' m right ~

( www.planespotters.net/airframe/mcdonnell-douglas-md-82-lz... )
Sam przewoźnik do stycznia 2021 nosił nazwę Bułgarian Air Charter, jest spółką akcyjną z siedzibą w Sofii, założoną 22 lata temu (2000 rok). European Air Charter współpracuje z wiodącymi europejskimi touroperatorami, m.in. jak TUI, DER Touristik/Exim, Coral Travel Poland, FTI.

Just want to say hi to you guys ^-^
I bought a photography book about "bokeh" today ....and it made me want to hold my camera again :p
I’m going to be taking another break from Flickr. I need to put my head on straight, and this site is only distracting me from that right now. I need to start taking care of my health (which has been suffering lately) and well-being, and I need to start paying attention to school, at least until this semester is over. I'm okay, trust me, but this is just not good for me right now, if I want to keep my grades up, as well as my own personal happiness.
I know, I know I take breaks almost constantly, and I always say the same thing, but I’m going to try to stick to it right now, at least for a little while. As always, I will still be coming onto Flickr occasionally to follow your streams, but I have to stay away as much as I can right now, for various reasons. I will be back soon.
TTFN.
Thanks for your visit and comment!!!

So today was my second day in Edinburgh, still getting used to this whole driving on the left side rule. Quite odd to get used too especially when you see little old ladies driving down the street and you think to yourself "NOBODIES DRIVING THAT CAR!!!" But I do have to say the round-abouts are quite nice keeps traffic moving and they are a bit fun to drive around.
So this is the window in my room and I was thinking it would be a great location for a photo. I almost used it last night but then decided I wanted some daylight for it. So I took this!
Tomorrow we head up to Loch Ness and I sure hope the Loch Ness Monster makes an appearance cause it would be quite swell to take a photo of it. Maybe even hop in and take my 365 with it! haha.
Anyhow hope your doing well or whomever read this far! :)

Lake Pichola, situated in Udaipur city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, is an artificial fresh water lake, created in the year 1362 AD, named after the nearby Picholi village. It is one of the several contiguous lakes, and developed over the last few centuries in and around the famous Udaipur city. The lakes around Udaipur were primarily created by building dams to meet the drinking water and irrigation needs of the city and its neighborhood. Two islands, Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir are located within Pichola Lake, and have been developed with several palaces to provide views of the lake.
Three of the numerous lakes found in the vicinity of Udaipur which connect with the Pichola lake built by Maharana Dharma Chand Pichholiya and the Saroop Sagar Lake connected by an arched bridge built by Maharana Swaroop Singh (1842-1861) which in turn connects to the Fateh Sagar Lake, the crystal watered lake in the midst of tree lined hills and the smaller Arsi vilas.

Hello Flickr!
Last weekend Scott and I went to our familiar haunt of Pacific Grove/Monterey to celebrate my birthday a couple of weeks early (there was a sale at our favorite b&b!). It was a gorgeous weekend and very relaxing for us both.
Plus, Scott COMPLETELY SHOCKED ME by surprising me with a 50mm f/1.4! He put it on my camera while I was out of the room and it took me over 12 hours to notice it. He was playing a game of chess with himself at one point and I felt compelled to shoot his hand with some of the chess pieces. Upon trying to use the focus ring on what I thought was my 50mm f/1.8 (I've broken two of those this year, btw--and that one was my third), I became utterly confused. Why did this lens feel, look and act differently than I remembered? I then conducted a thorough inspection of the lens, slowly realizing that no I was not dreaming -- it actually WAS a 1.4! :D
I love Scott and his kindness, generosity and ability to surprise me ♥ My birthday isn't until a week from tomorrow, either!
"A universe comes to contribute to our happiness when reverie comes to accentuate our repose. You must tell the man who wants to dream well to begin by being happy. Then reverie plays out its veritable destiny; it becomes poetic reverie and by it, in it, everything becomes beautiful. If the dreamer had "the gift" he would turn his reverie into a work. And this work would be grandiose since the dreamed world is automatically grandiose." from The Poetics of Reverie by Gaston Bachelard
This one is for GERI aka Born 2 Be Mild. I don't know when and how I stumbled upon Geri's stream but I surely am glad I did. I could never forget her 5-CARROT RING POST. If I recall that was the very first of her photos I commented on. And I knew right there and then that I had to stay connected to this wonderful lady - now a treasured friend - because if there is someone on Flickr who can make me laugh, she certainly can. She may not know it, but it was Geri who inspired me to capture droplets on flowers and leaves. And that is why I am dedicating this droplet, this "dreamed world" to her. I hope she finds it worthy.
It's 2:30am
I can't sleep
and I'm in an editing mood.
This picture is from awhile ago. I just rediscovered it.
and I was thinking a lot tonight and I got a lot of inspiration from other photos today.
I want to start writing a lot more on here. I guess you could call it journaling. But I want to look back years from now and know what I was thinking today....about this picture, life, anything.
I remember this day perfectly (in this picture) Eric took me to this park. I wish I could remember what it was called but it was amazing. This lake was huge and it couldn't have been a nicer day. and we rode the bike there which was even better. but I just remember feeling so free. Everybody who was there was just off doing their own thing. I saw this boy sitting on this bench singing and playing his guitar, and I envyed him for a minute. It just seemed like he didnt have a care in the world for that moment and he probably didnt, and then I realized neither did I. becasue I had everything I needed right there. I had the person I love more than anything in the world and who loves me back right there with me, and I was doing what I loved, taking pictures and running in the grass barefoot. and I wish everyday could be like this day but I know they won't be, and that's why I want to write about it, so I can come back and read about it, and relive it when I need to.
Kids having fun with me in the small village of Sohan, outside of Islamabad ;-)

I keep on fear, keep on loathing
Nothing brings it on I keep on falling
Decide what it is I can not find
It's subsides what you make it
Never feel like you're gonna break it
It's gonna be alright alright
Sleep until the morning comes
The sun will warm your soul
Sleep until the morning comes for you
Til the morning
it's alright
I can walk into the sunlight, into the day,
I feel it falling, nothing comes to my mind
Bring it on in a different tide
I feel alright, alright
I feel strong, i feel rigid
It's nothing to do with the vision
Oh feels so right, so right
Sleep on tight, sleep on tight
Sleep until the sunlight
Sleep on tight, til the sunlight burns you happy
Til the sunlight burns you happy, till the sunlight burns a happy whole in
Your heart,
In your heart
In your heart...

The small town of Lake, located northwest of Bages and full Moianès plateau, occupies a cool place that is characterized by its height and a higher rainfall than the rest of the region. In the town, located 870 m above is accessed by the road that climbs north of Moia. After a large area of scattered peasant between forests and crops, soon entered into a plan which highlights the best advantage of the lake population. The core of the lake, sheltered on the north by a serrated stands at the edge where there was an ancient lake dried up in 1570 by order of Abbot Charles Cardona to drain water and prevent outbreaks of epidemics entailed. The lake is still refills at times of heavy rainfall. The houses are stone and are a good example of rural village, almost mountainous. The visitors were attracted to the lake for its good climate and the extraordinary Romanesque monastery of Santa Maria, with its restored church, a magnificent cloister with 72 capitals of biblical themes, floristic and arms, and a small museum in which there are summarizes the history of the monastery. Other notable places are the town's Round Puig and Puig de la Caridad, and diversity of natural resources there. In case you haven't caught on to what's happening, I taped the fortune from my crappy fortune cookie to the mirror, and then made an attempt to get macro-esque with it. Just trying something new. Actually, I didn't even eat Chinese last night... wasn't even supposed to be my cookie, but if it's sitting on the kitchen counter, you snooze you lose, ha.
Since uploading this, it means I'm officially caught up from posting backlog which is a wonderful, wonderful thing and a great feeling. Over the past two days, I've been watching videos my contacts have posted in the Hi, I'm... group. Just have to say they are amazing, and Flickr really is a great community. Some people outside of the Flickr world don't seem understand, but you guys really are great friends and just awesome people, who have great personalities that take fabulous photos.

mi è gradita come l'aria notturna,
fresca in confronto all'estate calda del giorno.
Che bello, non sto pensando a niente!
Non pensare a niente
è avere l'anima propria e intera.
a niente...

** I don't mean to repost or to bump this to the top, but this is one of my favorite and memorable photos of '09. Memorable because of the feeling that overcomes a person when true and natural beauty present themselves; truly an experience that is far and few between sometimes

The city is the economic center of the San Diego–Carlsbad–San Marcos Metropolitan Area considered congruent with the county. The city was rated the fifth-best place to live in the United States in 2006 by Money magazine.[3] According to Forbes magazine, San Diego is the fifth-wealthiest city in the United States and the 9th safest city in the top 10 list of safest cities in the U.S.[4] San Diego's top four industries are manufacturing, defense, tourism, and agriculture.[5] San Diego's economy is largely composed of agriculture, biotechnology/biosciences, computer sciences, electronics manufacturing, defense-related manufacturing, financial and business services, ship repair, ship construction, software development, telecommunications, wireless research, and tourism. The presence of the University of California, San Diego, (UCSD) with the affiliated UCSD Medical Center promotes research in biotechnology.[6] San Diego is also designated as an iHub Innovation Center by Gov. Schwarzenegger’s Office of Economic Development.[7][8]

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day ♪♫♪♫
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.

The clouds above my head
The shadows slowly fade away
Even my own has left my side
Watching the colors fade to gray
I gaze into the midday sky
Has the daylight turned to dusk?
i close my weary eyes
There I see a different light
Bright as the noonday sun
The vision I have in mind
The dream I carry in my heart
Not a shadow of doubt
No fear in sight
I open my eyes
I see a path before me
I take one step, and another
and walk with head held high
Yes it’s a long road...
But the end is in sight!

108/365 - Tears And Rain - James Blunt
Bad weather over France this days, it rained all day so we had to deal with.
I had really no idea for today's shot so we went to town with Loic.
Today is something new, something different, maybe more poetic and abstract.
Don't know what to think about but I kind like this shot.
I've been tagged by Lisa yesterday, thanks to her, so here is ten things about me :
1 - I love to hang out barefoot, I love to wear just a short, I love when it's warm and sunny.
2 - Kelly Slater is a very inspiring person for me.
3 - I'm in love with Tristan Prettyman and Katie Melua, just love their music.
4 - I love to travel, I'm lucky I've seen various places and countries, I can't wait to travel to Australia one day.
5 - I quit sport and focus on photography after a motorbike accident that took me 4 surgeries on my right knee to recover
6 - I don't like to run but I like to swim... that's maybe not surprising !
7 - I smoke too much, I decided to stop smoking until the end of 2010...
8 - My brother has always been inspiring for me, I may have try close to everything he did
9 - I was scared to see what's under the surface until I dive with sharks last year
10 - I would love to know how to play guitare, I try, but I've to admit I'm really bad at it !
So I'm going to tag 10 contacts that I like to check their stream and they'll do this 10 stuff if they want !

The housefly (also house fly, house-fly or common housefly), Musca domestica, is the most common of all flies flying in homes, and indeed one of the most widely distributed insects; it is often considered a pest that can carry serious diseases. Each female fly can lay approximately 500 eggs in several batches of about 75 to 150, eggs [1]. The eggs are white and are about 1.2 mm in length. Within a day, larvae (maggots) hatch from the eggs; they live and feed in (usually dead and decaying) organic material, such as garbage or faeces. The flies depend on warm temperatures; generally, the warmer the temperature the faster the flies will develop. In winter, most of them survive in the larval or the pupa stage in some protected warm location.
The average lifespan of an adult housefly is approximately 15 to 25 days.
