She calls herself blue, a lovely wild blue flower that lives next to a deserted ocean side.
She isn’t alone, but she has secrets not to tell. Each time the sea breeze free flows in the air with orange sunset reflecting, she wonders where her destiny lies... her own true destiny…
I keep on fear, keep on loathing
Nothing brings it on I keep on falling
Decide what it is I can not find
It's subsides what you make it
Never feel like you're gonna break it
It's gonna be alright alright
Sleep until the morning comes
The sun will warm your soul
Sleep until the morning comes for you
Til the morning
it's alright
I can walk into the sunlight, into the day,
I feel it falling, nothing comes to my mind
Bring it on in a different tide
I feel alright, alright
I feel strong, i feel rigid
It's nothing to do with the vision
Oh feels so right, so right
Sleep on tight, sleep on tight
Sleep until the sunlight
Sleep on tight, til the sunlight burns you happy
Til the sunlight burns you happy, till the sunlight burns a happy whole in
Your heart,
In your heart
In your heart...

OK, so today I wanted some creativity. My hubby found a large and dense spiderweb in the garage and was about to wipe it out but for my plea he kept it. I went on attack with a water spray bottle and started shooting--without a tripod ... no room there to fit it in - with my 100mm macro. This is a shot of the water drops in the spider web, which get a play on light through the window that is marbled to some degree from the water drops itself. I used a gorillatorch flashlight and played with channel mixer to get the colors in Photoshop. I think it is kind of cool. If the web is still there tomorrow, I will try to put a tripod in and some flowers and things in the background and see what I can get.

-Oye, hombre, ¿a qué vienen todas esas risotadas día tras día?

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day ♪♫♪♫
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.

From Wikipedia:
Southbank was formerly an industrial area and part of South Melbourne. It was transformed into a densely populated district of high rise apartment and office buildings beginning in the early 1990s as part of an urban renewal program. Though few buildings built before this time have been spared redevelopment, Southbank does retain some significant heritage including many buildings in the major cultural precinct at the St Kilda Road end and some warehouses and wharves towards the area now known as "South Wharf".
The central feature of Southbank is Southgate Arts and Leisure Precinct, a retail, eating, and entertainment precinct on the southern bank of the Yarra River. Southgate features the iconic sculpture Ophelia by Deborah Halpern, which is the big Y symbol (representing Melbourne) that stands at Bear Brass cafe. The entertainment precinct extends along the Yarra and includes Crown Casino. The suburb also includes an office precinct and a hi-density residential precinct which has many skyscrapers, the tallest of which is the Eureka Tower. The Queensbridge Precinct includes Queensbridge Square, a pedestrian plaza and meeting place.

Hagia Sophia (from the Greek: Ἁγία Σοφία, "Holy Wisdom"; Latin: Sancta Sophia or Sancta Sapientia; Turkish: Ayasofya) is a former Orthodox patriarchal basilica, later a mosque, and now a museum in Istanbul, Turkey. From the date of its dedication in 360 until 1453, it served as the Greek Patriarchal cathedral of Constantinople, except between 1204 and 1261, when it was converted to a Roman Catholic cathedral under the Latin Patriarch of Constantinople of the Western Crusader established Latin Empire. The building was a mosque from 29 May 1453 until 1931, when it was secularized. It was opened as a museum on 1 February 1935.[1]
The Church was dedicated to the Logos, the second person of the Holy Trinity,[2] its dedication feast taking place on 25 December, the anniversary of the Birth of the incarnation of the Logos in Christ.[2] Although it is sometimes referred to as Sancta Sophia (as though it were named after Saint Sophia), sophia is the phonetic spelling in Latin of the Greek word for wisdom – the full name in Greek being Ναός τῆς Ἁγίας τοῦ Θεοῦ Σοφίας, "Church of the Holy Wisdom of God".[3][4]
Famous in particular for its massive dome, it is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture and is said to have "changed the history of architecture."[5] It was the largest cathedral in the world for nearly a thousand years, until Seville Cathedral was completed in 1520. The current building was originally constructed as a church between 532 and 537 on the orders of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian and was the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site, the previous two having both been destroyed by rioters. It was designed by the Greek scientists Isidore of Miletus, a physicist, and Anthemius of Tralles, a mathematician.[6]
The church contained a large collection of holy relics and featured, among other things, a 49 foot (15 m) silver iconostasis. It was the seat of the Patriarch of Constantinople and the religious focal point of the Eastern Orthodox Church for nearly one thousand years. It is the church in which Cardinal Humbert in 1054 excommunicated Michael I Cerularius – which is commonly considered the start of the Great Schism.
In 1453, Constantinople was conquered by the Ottoman Turks under Sultan Mehmed II, who subsequently ordered the building converted into a mosque.[7] The bells, altar, iconostasis, and sacrificial vessels were removed and many of the mosaics were plastered over. Islamic features – such as the mihrab, minbar, and four minarets – were added while in the possession of the Ottomans. It remained a mosque until 1931 when it was closed to the public for four years. It was re-opened in 1935 as a museum by the Republic of Turkey.
For almost 500 years the principal mosque of Istanbul, Hagia Sophia served as a model for many other Ottoman mosques, such as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque of Istanbul), the Şehzade Mosque, the Süleymaniye Mosque, the Rüstem Pasha Mosque and the Kılıç Ali Paşa Mosque.

Bad weather over France this days, it rained all day so we had to deal with.
I had really no idea for today's shot so we went to town with Loic.
Today is something new, something different, maybe more poetic and abstract.
Don't know what to think about but I kind like this shot.
I've been tagged by Lisa yesterday, thanks to her, so here is ten things about me :
1 - I love to hang out barefoot, I love to wear just a short, I love when it's warm and sunny.
2 - Kelly Slater is a very inspiring person for me.
3 - I'm in love with Tristan Prettyman and Katie Melua, just love their music.
4 - I love to travel, I'm lucky I've seen various places and countries, I can't wait to travel to Australia one day.
5 - I quit sport and focus on photography after a motorbike accident that took me 4 surgeries on my right knee to recover
6 - I don't like to run but I like to swim... that's maybe not surprising !
7 - I smoke too much, I decided to stop smoking until the end of 2010...
8 - My brother has always been inspiring for me, I may have try close to everything he did
9 - I was scared to see what's under the surface until I dive with sharks last year
10 - I would love to know how to play guitare, I try, but I've to admit I'm really bad at it !
So I'm going to tag 10 contacts that I like to check their stream and they'll do this 10 stuff if they want !

Tanah Lot is one of the main temples in Bali located on a rock formation at the west coast of Bali. Its one of the most conservative temples and tourists are not allowed to get near it.
Sunset is the best time to visit Tanah Lot, when the golden red skies frame the temple and waves crash into the rocks. Fortunately or unfortunately during the lovely sunset it was again interrupted by ominous clouds!!
Dramatic effect in the shot was created by tonemapping single RAW image in Dynamic Photo and finishing touch was provided in Photoshop.
Trivia
Myth says there are still poisonous snakes live in the nearby caves to guard the temple and contribute to the temple's dangerous reputation.

The housefly (also house fly, house-fly or common housefly), Musca domestica, is the most common of all flies flying in homes, and indeed one of the most widely distributed insects; it is often considered a pest that can carry serious diseases. Each female fly can lay approximately 500 eggs in several batches of about 75 to 150, eggs [1]. The eggs are white and are about 1.2 mm in length. Within a day, larvae (maggots) hatch from the eggs; they live and feed in (usually dead and decaying) organic material, such as garbage or faeces. The flies depend on warm temperatures; generally, the warmer the temperature the faster the flies will develop. In winter, most of them survive in the larval or the pupa stage in some protected warm location.
The average lifespan of an adult housefly is approximately 15 to 25 days.

A break in the Weather...
The forecast was a moments relief from the recent downpours. There would be a clear night and a nearly full moon. The tide was on its way out. It would be rude not too..
A trip to Monknash with Mr Rob Hudson was a great way to spend the perfect conditions. The previous weeks rains had left enough run-off to create a splendid set of falls beneath the headland. A few wispy clouds overhead and hey-presto!
All it took was a bit of preparation, a trek in the dark, a thermal base layer, two T-Shirts, a fleece, two coats, two pairs of trousers, thick socks, waterproof boots and a minute and a half of exposure!
me = happy.
Jeita Grotto is a compound two separate but interconnected limestone caves. The caves are situated in the Nahr al-Kalb valley. Jeita accommodates two crystallized grottoes with natural sculptural beauty with rock formations that seem to glow in the dark.
This rare and marvelous natural wonder features a lower cave where the visitor can take a short dreamy cruise on a rowboat for a distance of approximately 450 meters of the 6200 meters from the explored part of the site.
In 1958, Lebanese speleologists discovered the upper galleries 60 metres above the lower cave which have been accommodated with an access tunnel and a series of walkways to enable tourists’ safe access without disturbing the natural landscape. The upper galleries house the world’s largest stalactite. The upper cave contains a great concentration of a variety of crystallized formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns.
The Jeita caves have formed over millions of years due to the dissolution of limestone. The limestone is dissolved by carbonic acid charged rain water and groundwater. It is the longest cave complex in the Middle East.
Photography inside the caves is banned. The visitors have to leave their cameras and mobile phones outside before entering the caves. The Jeita Grotto is one of the finalist candidate for the New 7 Wonders of Nature competition.

Impressive, atmospheric, just a little frightening, the long black and red hooded and robed figures of the Procession de la Sanch march slowly through the streets of Perpignan to the solemn beat of black veiled tambourines The Procession de la Sanch, which takes place every ’Vendredi Saint’, (Good Friday), opens the celebration of the Easter Holy week.
The brotherhood of “La Sanch” (the blood) was founded in1416 by Vincent Ferrier at the church of St Jaques in Perpignan, its origin to assist and accompany the condemned to their execution. A preacher, Ferrier is said to have undergone a life changing experience in 1398 when he nearly died of the fever, but was miraculously cured after Christ appeared to him in an apparition. He attracted followers, penitents from all walks of life, who he led around Europe, preaching penance and helping sinners to prepare for judgment and punishment. The wearing of the black and red hooded robes (orcaparutxe) was to prevent criminals being recognized and ‘lynched’ in the streets as pay back for crimes committed, and prisoners, penitents, (there to give solace to the person about to die), and executioner were hooded for maximum confusion.
The procession as a whole commemorates the Passion and the Agony of Christ. At the head of the parade walks a red robed figure “le regidor”, warning the crowds of the procession’s approach. by intermittently ringing an iron bell as he leads the penitents to the gallows. They carry ‘misteris’ (full-size representations of the different scenes of the Passion) through the streets of Perpignan. Of course, over the years the Sanch has become a great crowd puller and a fabulous photo opportunity but for the ‘penitents’ carrying crosses, crucifixes and religious statues weighing up to thirty to fifty kilos, this re- enactment of Christ’s Passion is real enough. The procession takes place in silence – some walk bare-foot, others are on their knees…... only the sound of the tambourine, and the occasional peal of the bell breaks the eerie atmosphere, along with the Goigs, traditional Easter songs which accompany the march.
Over the centuries the Sanch has been forbidden several times. It has always survived.
Out of Walmart and it was snowing to my surprise. Walmart is a cesspool of a merchant retailer serving the masses. I don't like being there. So it was time to get out while the getting was good. I made a decision to drop off my dad and go take a picture.

winter solstice . deep bass notes . dark sacred night . dark of the moon
purest stillness . falling snow . ancient awe . stars aglow
sacred gifts to gather our peace
peace all around us
peace within us
every breath, a prayer for peace
every breath, a prayer of gratitude
shhhh ... find the still place within
tonight we may dream of faraway drumbeats
in the morning we will know a secret
it was mother nature's wakening heartbeat
the sound of light returning
so we take this peace
gathered in the stillness of winter solstice
and spread it like seeds in the warming ground

In Idaho's Swan Valley is this old school house. We had a great day with cloud-filled skies. Here, the lighting was changing by the minute as the clouds moved by.
I placed the old building off-center and put the far-away red-roofed farm house buildings to the left as a minor element of the composition.

La Bisbal d'Empordà is the capital of the comarca of the Baix Empordà in Catalonia, Spain.
The town is 29 km south east of Girona, 12 km west of Palafrugell and 19 km north west of Palamós. The town lies on the C-66 road between Girona and Palafrugell/Palamós where it becomes the C-31. The GI-660 to Calonge and Sant Feliu de Guíxols and GI-664 to Cassà de la Selva cross the Gavarres mountains.
The town's name is derived from the Catalan bisbe, meaning "bishop", as the town was under the control of the bishops of Girona from the Carolingian period. It is constructed on the site of the Roman settlement of Fontanetum, and is sometimes referred to as Fontanet in Old Catalan. The Spanish name of La Bisbal del Ampurdán is no longer in official use.
The current settlement can be dated at least to the consecration of the church of Santa Maria de la Bisbal in 901 (the current baroque building dates from the seventeenth century). The fortified episcopal palace occupies a large part of the historic town centre.
The municipality lies on the northern edge of the Gavarres mountains and on the banks of the Darò river a tributary of the River Ter.
The town became home to a substantial number of French immigrants after the French Revolution of 1789. The saw several battles during the Napoleonic Wars (Peninsular War). General O'Donnell routed the French forces of General Schwarz at La Bisbal in 1811. The town was briefly occupied by Carlist forces in 1874 during the Third Carlist War.
The towns economy is heavily based on pottery as well as agriculture.
The town is one of the traditional centres of the sardana dance.

Story
"Entire generations may pass devoid of great discoveries".
This was almost one of those generations.
The year 4561 saw the end of the Terpon Zoning Wars with the lion's share of the spoils going to the Beulorians. Most of the wars were fought in the courtrooms and the Beulorians were defending what they considered to be a fair claim. The Terpon Cluster was an uninhabited star grouping that sat on the fringes of the secluded Vierian System and was mostly considered a vast wasteland. Beulor was the only planet that supported life in the Vierian System. When their explorations reached as far as the Terpon Cluster, they discovered a widely spanning asteroid field. It was believed they were verging on something quite amazing. The cluster remained to that date unclaimed and despite their reputation as rash businessmen, Beulor's interest in the region quickly drew a crowd of suitors.
The Beulorians fought passionately in the Universal Courts for the cluster. Their win was attributed mostly to their command of their native tongue, which they insisted on using and was largely unintelligible by most other civilized races.
In the six years immediately following their 'victory', the Beulorians began mining the asteroids. Their exhaustive exploration revealed nothing, and tons of it. Their resources were quickly drained and living up to their well-deserved reputation, the Beulorians looked to sell the lot. The potential investment was overwhelmingly ignored.
A coalition of interstellar industrialists took interest. This coalition was represented by the biggest stakeholder Llwyngwril Systems. Already famous for their manufacturing of practical yet ridiculous vehicles, as well as the virtual impossibility of correctly pronouncing the company name without pulling a muscle, the representatives of Llwyngwril saw potential where other parties saw only insurmountable risk. They lowballed the Beulorians with an offer that they, themselves, considered completely unreasonable. But seeing it as the only opportunity to dump an investment they felt was destined to yield no return whatsoever, the Beulorians hastily accepted the offer. They went on and toasted themselves 'the greatest salesmen in the Universe'.
Within mere days of the property changing hands, the new owners started setting up mining facilities on the largest asteroids in the field. Adler Corporation planted several bunkers, CS fanatics became active on the surface, Tequilatron began plasmamining, Llwyngwril deployed their Gourmet Grinders and several private contractors initiated deep core mining. The representatives were surprised that the Beulorians had not yet mined these rocks. This astonishment was soon replaced by joy when several deep core miners stumbled across a new element. In an effort to make it easy to pronounce, the coalition named the element ABS, or ABSinite. It was easily smelted, melted down into a variety of ABS shapes, easily dyed and was bulletproof. Its potential profitability was immediately recognized.
The Beulorians who facilitated the transaction were promptly outsmarted and dealt with. According to the planet's laws, for the most punishable and commonly committed crime of being rash. The coalition took over the asteroid fields and expanded their effort till the very last rock. This started an era that would become known as 'The Great Terpon Mining Frenzy'.
As all businesses eventually experience, the criminal element wormed its way into the action. Completely incapable of original ideas that lead to any semblance of profitability, but perfectly adept at being ruthless and covered in unmanageable hair, Thondan pirates made frequent passes through the cluster. Their aim was set for cargo carriers and freighters destined for the more populated and high-demand regions of the Universe. Recently discovering stealth technology, the criminals of Blacktron found their way into the cluster as well, secretly scanning remaining asteroids for small profits. Tapping and stealth mining became an almost regular thing. The alien species of Ethel Mertz too noticed the boost of activity in the region. So they began storming the nebulae situated in the cluster and learned how to extract ABS from the toxic clouds. Being at war with the humans from 4518 to 4546, the coalition had a bitter aftertaste about the Mertz' presence in the area. Nebulae mining was mostly tolerated though, as the clouds were marked as too irradiated for their vessels to approach.
To combat the criminal activity, the coalition funded an effort to patrol and survey ongoing mining operations. The powerful Galactic Anthropic Imperial Armada (GAIA) stepped in and signed the lucrative contract. Now overseeing daily business in luxury cruiseliners converted into battleships, GAIA keeps an eye out for smugglers, pirates and criminals. With an inexhaustible supply of weaponry and hubris. The system is well known for their ships now hovering in the middle of dense industrial territory. Their singular mission being to fire 'tiny' missiles at approaching enemies and occasionally pointing their formidable triple cannons at the intruders only to extend the middle one into the air. Hubris.
The arrangement has proven reasonably effective and the benefit of fewer troubles with pirates allowed the coalition to overlook the fact that the gigantic spaceships frequently clogged up viable trade routes.
The system is now one of the most active industrial zones in the history of the Interstellar Transport Agency. The huge variety of ships and building styles in the system attracts spaceship spotters from all across the galaxy.
Individual builds and backgrounds
- Topsy Creatori
- Creation: D.U.D. Barges, space cargo
Built and piloted by Darkla's M3D Marauders, the typical red/black D.U.D. Barges are seen flying in to the asteroid field to collect ABS. Little is known as to what purpose Darkla's empire would use the resources. The archives only show a lucrative private contract, set up with an anonymous company.
- Starscream Soundwave
- Creation: Private party, heavy duty mining ships
Extracting as much ABS as is available for the highest bidder. This is the aim of the submarine-like mining fleet. Their appearance is matched with their heavy armor, protecting the valuable goods inside. Two mining lasers on the front do the extracting. Contents are usually picked up by mobile processing ships or high capacity freighters.
- Locutus666
- Creation: Blacktron I, # 6985 upgraded ABS Prospector
Blacktron got word of the mining operations going on in section D 887. They just needed to venture out and take their slice. Joining the party in the second stage, a stealth prospector is seen scanning the remaining asteroids for quantities of ABS.
- Marc Edge R.unde
- Creation: GAIA, HMS Misirlou
With the increasing threat of pirates within the quadrant, local authorities called upon the Galactic Anthropic Imperial Armada to oversee ongoing operations. An Alexandria Class Destroyer (HMS Misirlou) is seen bombarding an incoming Thondan pirate ship.
- David Roberts
- Creation: Llwyngwril Systems, 'Gourmet' Asteroid miner
Llwyngwril Systems' Gourmet Grinder is a mining machine with and integral smelting furnace under its belly. It is serviced by two smaller ships. One has big tongs for removing the ore from the back of the smelter and the other one carries it away to the nearest station or processing facility.
- David Alexander Smith
- Creation: CS, Mineral Sorting Plant
General deposits of ABS found on the surface of asteroids are mostly exploited by the CS fanatics. Industrial mineral sorting stations pop up everywhere, as well as the landvehicles scraping the soil.
- Clayton Marchetti
- Creation: Space Freighter S.S. 5906 "Goliath"
The golden carriages of the galactic speedways. Carrying vast amounts of cargo, these freighters are slow but very profitable. Usually these ships buy up all local resources, which get transported to areas with a high demand rate. Their big fuselages make easy targets to get a lock on for ill tempered pirates though.
- Matt Rowntree
- Creation: Ethel Mertz, Thurston Howell mkIII, Lurch class ABS extraction frigate
Unlike most human explorers and miners, this alien species is able to extract ABSinite from the irradiated nebulae efficiently. The Ethel Mertz and Terran miners continue to co-exist as they do not venture into eachother's territory. Means of contact and communication remain strictly forbidden though, causing a tenuous relationship.
- Tom Remy
- Creation: Liquid ABS processing facility
The deep core extraction pillar digs into the asteroid, extracting and processing the highly toxic liquid absinite. This is the kind that can be turned into hard, transparent clear, cat-hair proof-absinite products. Dropships fly in and out of the landing pad to deliver the goods to local buyers.
- Tim Clark
- Creation: The 'Scallywag', Thondan pirate ship
Thondan pirates are well equipped and known for their ruthless tactics. Not interested in interstellar politics or trade, their goal is nothing but personal profit. The ominously looking Scallywag is seen warping into the sector, directly locking on to a freighter. That Absinite is going nowhere.
- Stephan Niehoff
- Creation: Adler Corporation, fuel refinery
In this facility, the mineral Reebit is won out of ABS. Reebit is prepared in powder form of two quality standards. Reebit is stored in silos for fueling and an explosive component. The refinery is sturdily built like a bunker, relying on it's defensive capability and protection from others.
- Pico van Grootveld
- Creation: Tequilatron, deep space drill operation
Tequilatron is the universe's number 1 provider in salts and liquor, famed for their spirits and tuk-tuks. The new Mobile 'King' drill, a walker and several type II plasmadrills are seen extracting ABS for their next new drink prototype. Scientist are still in search of a fitting name for their green spirit.

September 2012, update
Hi folks. I reprocessed (and replaced) the above shot this week to transfer it to canvas and large prints.
The wide angle lenses I use (back in 2011 I used the Sigma 10-20 on DX, now the Sigma 12-24 on FX) give quite some distortion, especially in the far corners. It's not always easy to get rid of it.
This time I went through the whole process again to correct the Ferry House, and bring it back to its true proportions.
Why am I doing this? Well, because I have my first exhibition Saturday, September 29. Where? Over here in this old Ferry house itself! :) Due to the 350th anniversary of the Hoge Brug in Overschie there's all kinds of festivities. One of them is the Ferry House opening its doors in the afternoon. The owner asked me to show my Overschie photo work over here, and I gladly agreed.
Info: www.museumoudoverschie.nl/nl/main/agenda/350-jaar-hoge-br...
Everybody's welcome of course to meet and greet and you can win a nifty canvas too. At the end of the day I'm selling my large prints (50x75 and 30x45) at special prices.
I'll keep you posted. I'm busy with processing, flyers, prints and marketing the whole thing, so I'll be on and off. Ta!
November 2011, nice story...
The Ferry House (Veerhuis) which I regularly shoot in Overschie was sold to a new owner.
I got contacted by him recently, and was asked if I could deliver a blow-up of one of my recent shots he loved (see below), to put it on the wall of his new home. Of course I gladly accepted the assignment! Yesterday I brought a huge canvas of the image (see below) to the Ferry house (wasn't easy, it's located on an impossible spot!) which is heavily renovated at the mo'.
I got a 'guided tour' through the house (from 1747) and I found out that Anton Pieck had lived here, which was news to me. There was a huge stone in the living room wall saying "Anton Pieck, November 1982". You can find Anton Pieck's take on the Ferry house and church over here. It's really nice (from 1948). A very nice experience all-round! Thx Joost, succes with the renovation!

Shot it at Kumbha Mela 2010.Its a greatest show on Earth.
In Hindu mythology, its origin is found in one of the popular creation myths and the Hindu theories on evolution, the Samudra manthan episode (Churning of the ocean of milk), which finds mention in the Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu Purana, the Mahabharata, and the Ramayana.
The Gods had lost their strength, and to regain it, they thought of churning the Ksheera Sagara (primordial ocean of milk) for amrit (the nectar of immortality), this required them to make a temporary agreement with their arch enemies, the demons or Asuras, to work together with a promise of sharing the nectar equally thereafter. However, when the Kumbha (urn) containing the amrita appeared, a fight ensued. For twelve days and twelve nights (equivalent to twelve human years) the gods and demons fought in the sky for the pot of amrita. It is believed that during the battle, Lord Vishnu flew away with the Kumbha of elixir, and that is when drops of amrita fell at four places on earth: Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik, and that is where the Kumbh Mela is observed every twelve years.
First written evidence of the Kumbha Mela can be found in the accounts of Chinese traveller, Huan Tsang or Xuanzang (602 - 664 A.D.) who visited India in 629 -645 CE, during the reign of King Harshavardhana.

"AS IT IS TOLD IN THE STARS…"
Like so many days before, the princess and her beloved guardian wolf went exploring. It should be told here that the bond she and the wolf have is a mystery for all. When the wolf was just 5 years old, a peculiar old lady, gifted the wolf to the family of the princess upon her birth and since then the wolf never left the princess’ side. He slept at her crib, watched over her as she played; she was never out of his sight.
As she grew older, they began to explore the lands together. This is something they loved to do. The wolf allowed her to ride on his back since he was very large and very strong.
During the nights the princess would lay cuddled against the wolf longing to have him forever.
On this particular night, which happened to be night of the princess’ 18th birthday, the princess lay with her wolf, as they have done since she was a child. The sound of thunder suddenly startled the wolf awake. Worried and protective as he always was he stood over his beloved princess. Nothing more happened and she caressed his fur to calm him and make him sleep again.
While exploring the next day in the mountains the wolf and princess came upon a small, strange, sparkling creature. Being his usual protective self the wolf growled at it. Worried that it might try to harm his precious princess. The princess stroked his fur softly, leaned to his ear, and whispered “Shhhhh, my wolf, it is just a fairy.” This did not calm him since he did not trust this creature one bit. He growled at her even more as the fairy smacked him on the nose with her sparkling stick. At that very moment the wolf felt a strange sensation, his mind began to spin. The fairy flew off quickly, giggling until she was out of sight. He looked up and whimpered at the princess, wanting a kiss on his nose in return for making the fairy go away. She leaned down and kissed him as she did so many times. This time he felt the kiss was different, it warmed his heart and soul as always but this time it also gave him a feeling as if there were butterflies in his tummy.
They wandered back into the village, returning home at dusk. The princess fed the wolf and they climbed into bed together. He licked her on the nose and rolled on his side so she could cuddle up to him. That night the wolf had strange dreams. He dreamt he was a human and not a wolf. The wolf was finally able to talk with her, to hold her, to kiss her, to do things he saw so many lovers do and only wished he could.
He woke from this nightmare and gasped. Looking down at his paws, he saw human hands. He quickly looked to his body; there was no fur, but instead his naked human skin. He lay back down moving closer to the princess, caressing her soft, silken skin. This sensation gave him tingles throughout his body. He kissed her neck, her cheek and finally her lips softly. The princess opened her eyes quickly, scared of this man next to her, pushing him away, screaming for her wolf to protect her. He placed his hand over her mouth and tried to calm her by saying, “ssshh…..it is I, my princess, your wolf.“
From that day forward the princess had her wolf as a human and as a strong wolf.
For many years they kept it a secret that he was a shape shifter…

This was actually my test exposure to get a baseline for a smaller aperture. When I saw it come out of the camera, I really liked what the clouds were doing, but, try as I might for an hour or so, I couldn't replicate it. Interesting how fast things can change.
