I must say I love this girl right here more than anyone could ever know. She has the sweetest heart of any person I have ever met. She is not only gorgeous, but loving and giving. I miss her dearly as she lives 800 miles from me. I wanted to take a pic of her on my quick trip home. I sort of forgot about it until the light was gone, but we headed out to a park and I snapped off a few. I love you Mae Mae!!

Funny how everyone says we look so much alike, when neither of us really see it. We are so very very different in everything.

When I was shooting this, my friend said he could see what I'll make of it.... I hope this doesn't fall short of what he expected me to do...

and BTW, for those of you who have been unfortunate enough to see the previous upload, this is the storm that I was talking about.. hehe... :P :D

This is going straight to my portfolio coz this defines me as a photographer and the kind of work I like.

Hope you all like this....

And yes, I'm so touched by all your comments/faves/views on my stream, I read them over and over again inspite of the training that has me running most of the time....

I dedicate this to Ambuj Bhaiya, the one who believed in me so much that he bought and sent me the SLR that I wanted from Japan (My KissX2) inspite of me repeatedly saying "No, That'll be too much." and to Papa, who said, "Go, touch your dream. I'll take care."

I could have done this at the time when I posted my first shot from the SLR. But I was waiting for The photograph that could do what it was supposed to.

somehow this one is extra special to me ... don't know what it is ... maybe it still contains the feeling I had when I came around the corner and discovered the magical play of light. Shrouded in that haze is a pond. It was frozen solid that morning. It was the second pond I went past that morning ... and it was the first indication of the fun and games to be had in the woods that day :-) This currently serves as my desktop and with that I only reluctantly switch my laptop off ;-) if I could put this on my desktop at work, I'd never do any work I think - I'd be too busy dreaming of wandering through the forest *chuckles*

...

let's see, with a bit of luck we have a pretty sunrise tomorrow & then that'll save you lovely folk from more woodland mystery ;-) ... and on Friday I'm headed off to Wales ... let's hope for some spectacular weather then :-) Can't wait to get those valleys through my lens!!

Whittington Castle..BEST VIEW ON View On Black

Whittington Castle is very impressive and picturesque, situated in the heart of Whittington village.

Although little remains today of Whittington Castle to suggest the glory of its magnificent hay-day, the gatehouse towers are still standing, reflected in the clear water of the moat, home to a small community of swans and ducks.

Whittington Castle looks especially good when floodlit, with the light reflected in the water of the moat.

The famous Bishop Howe, a son of Shrewsbury and author of the hymn 'For All The Saints', was a rector of the Georgian church in Whittington for 28 years.

The village of Whittington, near Oswestry is the setting for the remains of a feudal fortress.

Whittington Castle is first mentioned in 1138, when it was fortified by the Norman Chief, William Peverell against King Stephen.

William Peverell, the reputed son of William the Conqueror, who had fought at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 was given property and lordships in Derbyshire and he was also awarded Whittington castle.

William Peverell demolished the original wooden castle and replaced it with one built from stone.

The Castles position on the border with wales gave it a valuable role in history and the Peverells held it until the twelfth century.

On the death of William Peverell, the castle passed to his son Pain Peverell, who in turn left it to his son William. This is where the male right to succession seemed to end, as William had no son, only two daughters.

In the early twelfth century, ownership of Whittington Castle passed from the Peverells to Warine de Metz who became founder of the line of Fulk-Warines. Warine de Metz was succeeded by Fulk Fitz Warine, his son, who was knighted by Henry the First.

The next Fulk became a famous warrior, fighting and slain in the battle of Lewis, Sussex. He left a son and heir, and a daughter called Eve. In 1221 Fulk was given a licence to fortify the Castle, to repel Welsh invaders.

The main feature of the new defenses at Whittington was a rectangular inner bailey, en-circled by a stone wall

with semi-circular towers at it four corners.

A succession of Fulks followed, one of which was also a warlike warrior, who attended the Black Prince into Gascoigne and the Earl of Warwick into Flanders, amongst other places.

This Fulk expressed a wish that upon his death he be buried in the chancel of the church at Whittington. It is rumored that his remains, found in an Oak coffin three inches thick, were found in the porch of the present St. John the Baptist church in the eighteenth century.

Fulk Fitz Warine III and his family held the castle at Whittington until 1420, upon the extinction of the male line.

Two vertically shifted images shot with the 24mm TS-E lens, stitched.

The next photos in my Visual Acoustics architecture series will all be shot with the new Formatt-Hitech Firecrest 16 stops IRND filters. Why? I already wrote a review on that a few weeks ago on my blog, and I can tell you again that there’s no colour cast at all, not even when shooting in poor light conditions and that the accuracy is very high and that there’s no vignetting with the circular filters, simply because they’re so thin and you don’t need to stack, but I’m not going to say that again. Just look at all the other reviews by independent photographers or read my review here or convince yourself. And if you're interested in how to create images like this, then all this is explained on my website and also in my book that you can find on my website.

Giving this a go in the deleteme group. We shall see.

She is the hider. NOT the seeker. During our walk i told her to go hide so Lola could find her, and this is her interpretation. To be a 2 year old. :)

Another from my first attempt at RAW in CS2, enjoying it. I used a bit of vignetting in this one too, more obvious here.

Just managed to take this shot in the foyer of an upscale shopping centre (Astoria) in Istanbul before guards told me that the taking of photos in the mall was forbidden. Anyway, I bought myself a stunning "little black dress" (on sale) there and wore it that same night when we went to a dinner and entertainment show at a posh hotel :-)

Have a wonderful Thursday and thanks as always for your visits and kind comments.

Tai Ping Koon Restaurant (TPK) was founded in 1860 (Qing Dynasty-10th year of Xianfeng) by Mr. Chui Lo Ko who originally worked as a Chef for a western trading company in Guangzhou and his specialties were western dishes. He left the company and became a hawker. Created a fusion of Chinese and Western dishes, which were appreciated by his customer. In 1860, Mr. Chui started up his own restaurant in Tai Ping Sha of Guangzhou and he named it according to the venue. It was the first restaurant in Guangzhou specializing in western cuisine.

The most special dishes such as roasted pigeon, smoked pomfret, Baked Coconut Chicken in Portuguese Style were created by Mr. Chui and renowned in Southern Guangdong. The Marinade invented by the successors became an incomparable classical dish as well. The historic customers include Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Zhou Enlai, Chiang Kai-shek. In 1938, successors of Mr. Chui started up the first TPK in Hong Kong and became the first ancestor of Hong Kong Style Western Restaurant. TPK obtained an important status in the culture of Hong Kong Diet. Nowadays, Hong Kong Tai Ping Koon restaurant is still run by the Chui family. (No branch in Mainland China)

Once upon a time, three little girls lived in a cottage in the middle of the woods while their parents went on a business trip.

Goldilocks, Whiteylocks and Hazelocks.

You have most probably read about Goldilocks's story before, but have you heard of what happens next?

After Goldilocks fled from the home of the 3 bears, she was angry and humiliated, being the spoiled little girl she was, she felt that she had done no wrong. She vowed to get them back somehow, some day.

One early morning, Goldilock's youngest sister Hazelocks barged into her room excitedly announcing that a baby bear was in their kitchen. Hazelocks had medium length brown hair, she was tomboyish and did not act like a proper lady, she also had certain strange sadistic habits and was fascinated with torturing insects.

Goldilocks was delighted when she rushed to the kitchen and saw the familiar bear, although it had messed up the kitchen and was even stealing oatmeal from one of their bowls. Hazelocks started jumping around in excitement, and Goldilocks started formulating a plan.

Goldilocks was vain, arrogant and as aforementioned, terribly spoiled. She wanted a fur coat, her parents had promised to buy her one but their business trip was taking forever. She came up with a stupid and cruel plan, she wanted to skin the bear and use the baby bear's fur for a coat.

She told her sister who happily agreed that she would help Goldilocks with any "bloody disgusting" jobs when they skinned the bear. She was as excited as her sister and because of her warped mind, she enjoyed seeing any living organism suffer, except for herself or her family members.

Just then, Goldilock's 2nd sister, Whiteylocks (the middle child) rushed in and in her gentle persuasive tone, tried to stop her sisters from such acts of cruelty against animals. Whiteylocks was demure, gentle, well-mannered and she loved animals. Like all sickeningly sweet fairy tale princesses, she was adored by everyone but her eldest sister who was jealous of her.

Ignoring Whiteylocks, Goldilocks and Hazelocks were still bent on carrying out their plans. Advancing towards the bear cub with a knife, Hazelocks had a murderous look in her eyes as she raised the sharp deadly object.

The bear cub sensed danger and started squealing and calling for its mother in its own bear-speak that none of the three girls understood.

Just then, the girls heard a growl and charging with miraculous speed for an animal so large, the mother bear jumped through the window and continued growling menacingly at the three girls while protectively defending her baby cub.

She recognized Goldilocks as the intruder to her home and roared with anger, firstly, she had stolen their food, ruined their furniture and slept in her baby's bed and now, she wanted to hurt her baby.

Goldilocks and her sisters were already cornered, in her fury, the mother ripped Goldilocks apart and that sent her other 2 sisters screaming and crying, running for their lives. The mother bear turned to chase Hazelocks whom she had seen holding the knife and tore her into shreds. Whiteylocks being well read knew that there were 2 ways to escape a bear,

1. Climb a tree

2. Act dead

and since there was no tree in the house, she sprawled on the floor, trying to hold her breath and keep her calm, faking death. But the mother bear did not hurt her, she and her baby cub left the house which had been so clean a few minutes ago. (In comparison to it's current state the messed up kitchen would have been considered "clean")

Whiteylocks stared at her sister's dead bodies, or rather, what was left of them, and froze, her already semi-white hair turned whiter from shock into a pure white, her naturally pale skin paled further and her large eyes remained opened to the fullest, she couldn't stop shaking, she couldn't talk, she sat there in the house in the same position for days.

Eventually when the parents of the three girls returned, they were shocked to see the blood and the torn up bodies.

Whiteylocks was also dead. She sat in the same position, wrapping her arms around her own body. She had died from the lack of water and food.

And that was the sad end of the three little girls who lived in the cottage in the middle of the woods.

I have been so bored without the internet. Its pathetic.

1. I deleted over 1000 songs on my itunes.

2. I wrote seven letters I have been meaning to for months and sent them out today

3. I got my first roll of film developed.

4. I rode a bike for the first time in years.

5. I finally figured out the perfect combination for my starbucks coffee

6. I ate over 21 rolls of Mentos in two days. Im not kidding. Im about to run out and get more.

7. I rediscovered my love for Harris Teeter.

They got rid of all of them in GA and here in NC they are all over the place.

8. I read two very long magazines devoted to Michael Jackson's life. My mother is in love with him and I had nothing else to do. Members of my family will appreciate that. Just take my word for it, that meant I was literally dying of nothing to do.

9. I got to know the cashier at ACE hardware while going there to purchase a dryer aghast pipe.

Apparently her husband lost his son for over 27 years because his first wife ran off with him as a baby. The husband found him though, he was in FL, and they are now reunited and the husband of the cashier was able to attend his long lost sons wedding last month.

Leonard Cohen - Avalanche please listen (if you're not normally a fan, it doesn't matter.. I'm not either.... but they go together)

Well I stepped into an avalanche,

It covered up my soul;

When I am not this hunchback that you see,

I sleep beneath the golden hill.

You who wish to conquer pain,

You must learn, learn to serve me well.

You strike my side by accident

As you go down for your gold.

The cripple here that you clothe and feed

Is neither starved nor cold;

He does not ask for your company,

Not at the centre, the centre of the world.

When I am on a pedestal,

You did not raise me there.

Your laws do not compel me

To kneel grotesque and bare.

I myself am the pedestal

For this ugly hump at which you stare.

You who wish to conquer pain,

You must learn what makes me kind;

The crumbs of love that you offer me,

They're the crumbs I've left behind.

Your pain is no credential here,

It's just the shadow, shadow of my wound.

I have begun to long for you,

I who have no greed

I have begun to ask for you,

I who have no need.

You say you've gone away from me,

But I can feel you when you breathe.

Do not dress in those rags for me,

I know you are not poor

You don't love me quite so fiercely now

When you know that you are not sure,

It is your turn, beloved,

It is your flesh that I wear.

'Droplets of memory...' Large On Black

But, when nothing subsists from a distant past, after the death of others, after the destruction of objects, only the senses of smell and taste, weaker but more enduring, more intangible, more persistent, more faithful, continue for a long time, like souls, to remember, to wait, to hope, on the ruins of all the rest, to bring without flinching, on their nearly impalpable droplet, the immense edifice of memory.

A couple weeks ago I organized a "glitter party," which was basically just a mass photoshoot involving lots of people, glitter, and a field. Unfortunately, the internet on my computer is down and has been down for about a week or so now. I can't seem to figure out how to get reconnected to the internet, neither can my brother. So my internet usage is reduced to whenever I can get on somebody else's computer. I don't like it at all.

The usual subject from a rather usual angle, if compared to my previous jetty shot, which was a bit unusual...

For anyone interested: an article on Infrared photography is now available on my website. This very interesting article has been provided by Luca Cesari who has some great IR work. Check out his stream here on flickr.

This is the proof and the second of the series.... I had my trusty old d300 set on B/W and voila or bingo I captured this instant BAT frenzy.. then ran for my dear life i had all the security personel on my back.. cannot shoot cannot shoot..

I said no not shooting only taking picture with a dumb look pn my face as I casually walked away..and blended sort of with the masses..lol

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERY ONE.. AND A GREAT WEEKEND TOO.:-)

The day following the expulsion, a demonstration took place in the front of the Ministère de la Crise du Logement to denounce the conditions of the police intervention. After what they had endured at night, it was a release for many people and spirits were high !

So this Build marks the 6th year Eli and I have displayed together at Brickvention. Every year we both build one half of a diorama. Together we then place our two sides together and the final model comes together for 4 days only at the convention... Sounds tough right? Well add the additional factor of both of us living on opposite sides of Australia (I'm in Perth, Eli is in Brisbane) and we have to fly our MOC down to Melbourne to set up and display. This year we added the challenge of placing Eli's sides on top rather then next to mine, another fun challenge. Lots of hard work and planning go into these annual collaborative builds, and I speak for both of us when I say we've very proud with the end result this year.

I meet and caught up with so many talented and kind hearted people at Brickvention 2018 this year and it was honestly one of the best years yet! We were lucky enough to win the commendation prize as pictured above, couldn't have done it without Eli!

The Kingdom of Rhorevia is at peace once again, the various Kingdoms are united after the 'High King's Accords' were signed by many across the Realm... However the Golbin and Orc armies united under the Shadow Triad have returned staging daring protests and attacks, every day their power grows, threatening to return to what it once was prior to the Destruction of Bahnhof. The High King fears that the treaty may not be enough to stop the mystical power of the Shadow Triad! To ensure the safety of the Kingdom, he tasks the Wizard Arakoth to use his knowledge of the mystic arts to find something that can end The Shadow Triad before it's power destroys the Kingdom.

After weeks of research, Arakoth finds a map to Volsung Hall, the ruined and abandoned city of an ancient people who died off centuries ago. The catacombs had never been explored, perhaps they held treasures or secrets that could fulfil the Kings wishes? Arakoth gathered the best mages, Adventures, and mercenaries in all the Realm and together this band of Adventurers set out to Volsung Hall... However so did the Orc and Goblin Armies.

Upon entering, the Band of Adventures were attacked by Draugr, undead warriors of the fallen Civilization that once lived in Volsung's underground Halls. The Adventures were separated by the Draugr's unrelenting attacks, but this worked in Arakoth's favour. Arakoth entered a large room and before him stood a bright glowing egg, papers and books nearby explained that this was a Dragon end. The Egg was placed below in the deepest chambers of Volsung so that none would find it. A keen spirited Warrior leapt forth to snatch the egg only to be turned into an undead warrior. It seemed the Egg had some sort of curse of the undead laid upon it to prevent it from hatching, or to prevent it from leaving Volsung Hall.

Arakoth knew much about the Mystic Arts, he searched the chamber for some kind of counter-spell of counter-measure to lift the curse from the egg. A bright Blue glowing crystal caught Arakoth's attention, could this be the way to lift the curse? As Arakoth's fingers began to grasp the crystal, a roar echoed through out the cavern. Arakoth's eyes widened in fear, a crimson Red Dragon stood before him, towering over him, it's eyes narrowed ready to attack!

Will Arakoth and the Band of Adventures find a way to take the Dragon egg? Will they survive the Mother's attack? Will they make it out in one piece? Only time will tell..
