Light is a funny thing. It never stays in the same place, and it constantly broadcasts outward.
Perhaps we too, should learn a lesson from the light, and stretch ever outwards into the world instead of treading inward.
I don't go cutting down any trees that I don't have to, but this was one of the three small dogwoods I did have to cut down as a result of new construction at our house. I was impressed to see that it's not giving up so easily. But I expect to win in the end as this stump will soon be ground to mulch.
A collage I created during a bout of clinical depression when everything seemed gray to me. But a friend who saw this piece pointed out the large presence of a butterfly: a black & white butterfly but nonetheless a symbol of hopeful recovery.
