the daughter went up to buffalo to visit a friend at college and came home with this tattoo. not where i would choose to get inked, but she's not me. obviously.

yet another sign that she is a hippie. if she didn't look so much like me I would swear they switched babies at the hospital.

And now she is up 2-0 on me as far as tattoos go. I swear I am going to get mine the end of October.

A permanent fixture under the grand live oaks by the North Charleston Coliseum is now home to the Wall of Service for the City of North Charleston. The monument recognizes all current and past elected officials for their public service to the citizens of North Charleston and features busts of past mayor John Bourne and current mayor Keith Summey.

In addition, the grounds and facilities of the North Charleston Coliseum, Charleston Area Convention Center, and the North Charleston Performing Arts Center will be renamed to the Bourne-Summey City Center Complex. The renaming honors Mayor Summey and Bourne who have served in North Charleston’s top elected role for a combined 41 of the 43 years of the City’s incorporation.

This Suzuki Vitara has reached the end of its working life.

It is sitting just outside the Municipal Vehicle Depot in La Linea, Southern Spain.

I felt the Vitara was rushed into production (and it shows) after sales of the SJ series were badly hit by the roll-over scare in the late 1980s. The Vitara was introduced in 1988.

On January 7, 2010, just days before class was to start, the Los Angeles Times published a fascinating article on contemporary women architects, highlighting a striking building by Jeannie Gang. Earlier this year, the brand new President of Scripps College chose the Genius of Women as her inaugural theme. What serendipity! This gave us the perfect inspiration

for our artist book: the genius of women architects. After extensive research and class discussion, a mission statement for the book evolved: Architecture, like books, is a delicate balancing act between stability and motion, interior and exterior, aesthetic values and structural practicalities. Books, like buildings, are fundamentally inhabited spaces. They are

incomplete without human interaction.
