This layout is to showcase my brother's memorial tattoo in memory of his son (my nephew) and in memory of my baby girls (his nieces). My brother lost his son Isaac in 1993 and had the cross and heart with Isaac's initials a date tattooed. Later after I had lost both my baby girls in 2006 and 2008, my brother had gone back and had two more hearts added in with my girls intials and dates... one for Ava Noel and one for Amelia GraceAnn!
This is probably one of the most selfless gestures of love that a brother can do... I still am beyond touched and I think it looks just lovely! Thanks for letting me share!
During Mass with Bishop David Walkowiak on Sunday, Nov. 4 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, ten men of our diocese were admitted to candidacy for the permanent diaconate. This was the first formal step along their path to becoming deacons for the Church. Family and friends, deacons and concelebrating priests were also present for the celebration.
Congratulations to the following men accepted as candidates for the diaconate, their wives and families!

The Hofkriegsrat was the Court Council of War of the Habsburg Monarchy. Founded in 1556 in the reign of Emperor Ferdinand I, it was a council of men with military experience who could take charge of the army and its needs, in both war and peacetime. With the establishment of an imperial standing army in the 17th century, the Hofkriegsrat was the bureaucracy charged with managing the permanent military force. It served as the central military administrative agency and a military chancery, provided a staff for the emperor, and directed and coordinated field armies. Additionally, it conducted relations with the Ottoman Empire and administered the Military Frontier (Militärgrenze).

First World War and First Republic

The First World War (1914-1918) did not result in an immediate threat of Vienna, but brought about a devastating supply crisis due to the economic blockade of the Entente Powers, in particular leading to a shortage of food and clothing.
The end of the World War was in the same time also the end of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. On November 12, 1918 in front of the Parliament in Vienna German Austria was proclaimed as republic, the name had to be changed in 1919, however, to the Republic of Austria. Due to the now much smaller territory, Vienna thereto in relation was perceived as too large. The population was concentrated in the capital city, the state bureaucracy and the headquarters of the companies had been oriented to a super power. For currency consolidation it came in many institutions to staff reductions, Vienna and its central offices particularly hitting. The burgeoning metropolis of the Danube monarchy became the "hydrocephalus" of the decreased republic.
Another problem was that the former Archduchy Austria below the river Enns due to abundant population almost half of the inhabitants of the become small Austria comprised. The other provinces felt marginalized. Christian Socialists and Social Democrats therefore soon came to an understanding to extract Vienna from Lower Austria.
In the Federal Constitutional Law, the Constitution of Austria which in large parts is still valid today, Vienna with effect from 10 November 1920 was defined as a State. It decided on that day also its own municipal constitution. The already since the end of World War I in Vienna dominant social democracy - since then this is known as the "Red Vienna" - in addition to the city administration also provided the state administration, the city senate with Mayor Reumann was also one of the nine provincial governments of Austria, the town council also Landtag (Diet or State Parliament).
At the same time, Vienna was but by the end of 1921 de jure in terms of law and property rights in addition part of the province of Lower Austria in its former extent, as the property of the country still had to be divided to the two new states. In addition there was at that time still a common Landtag (that except formalities nothing had to decide), but no common State government anymore; a five-member Administrative Commission had to prepare the final division of property. On December 29, 1921 property, buildings, insurance shares, asylums, etc., in homonymic "law of separation" that the diets of Vienna and Lower Austria dediced separately to each other, each to Vienna or Lower Austria were allocated. In final constitutional law of the common Diet the common constitution which was only needed one year per December 31, 1921 was put out of force (by which the common parliament abolished itself). Vienna was therefore with effect from 1 January 1922 a from Lower Austria fully independent state.
From about 1923 until the outbreak of the Great Depression, the Red Vienna distinguished itself mainly by its municipality building, financed from funds from housing tax, and other social institutions - the private housing, on the other hand, as a result of the 1917 still by the imperial government introduced tenant protection and token rent rules (Friedenszinsregelung) practically came to a standstill.
In the light of the difficult economic situation of the remaining small state of Austria, of the since 1920 continuously existing antagonism between conservative managed "Bund (Confederation)" and the "Red Vienna" as well as the emergence of Fascism in Italy, grew political radicalization and polarization between the political camps. On the social democratic side in 1923-24 formed from the marshal formations of the SDAP the Republican Protection League, a well-organized paramilitary organization. On the other side, stood the Home Guards, which had been formed mainly in rural areas immediately after the end of World War II from local defense forces and related battle units and were supported as a counterpart to the working class of industrialists and later also by Benito Mussolini. They broke into a monarchist and a German nationalist wing.
