Along the Detroit River, a man plays his Marimba for donations from passerby. He's a very carefree individual as he even let my friends and I play with the instrument with him (instructing us which keys to play when). He doesn't have much but he's fun loving and spends his days with his passion: music. It's cool how there's always something to learn from everyone, even those you least expect it from.
It was all happening in the street. These singers are part of a larger dance troupe. Besides the two guitarists you see here, there was a drummer. Dancers were whirling all around me. I had to try to get the shot without getting in the way.

"Art must be beautiful. Artist must be beautiful".
Re-performance, 8hours.
In Art Must Be Beautiful. Artist Must Be Beautiful (1975), originally performed and documented at the Charlottenburg Art Festival, Copenhagen, Abramović sits, naked, holding a brush in one hand and a comb in the other. For just under an hour, she brushes her hair forcefully. yanking. tugging and even tearing at it. while repeating the mantra 'art must be beautiful, artist must be beautiful". For several minutes at a time, she falls silent and with a still gaze. she stares blankly into the distance before recommencing the punitive beauty routine. This is the first time that this work will be re-performed in Europe and has only been re-performed on one other occasion, in 2016 in Shanghai as part of the project '15 Rooms'.

Images of SOCO #8
Guero's is a popular Tex Mex restaurant in SOCO. They have an outdoor area right next to the restaurant where they frequently have live performances. There is a well known neon sign in Austin that marks this spot.
All of the images in this series have been taken in SOCO (South Congress area of Austin) on a single Flickrwalk from a week ago last Saturday night.

"White Cave"
39 days / 324 hours
Benaki Museum, Athens.
In this allegory of Plato’s Cave Nancy Stamatopoulou directs her own “spiritual confinement” within a reality composed of everyday objects.
For eight hours each day over the course of seven weeks, the artist will remain within the narrow limits set by the sights of a camera lens, confined inside her own personal “cave” and the shadowy re-enactment of a personal truth. Time passes slowly, like the movement of a turtle. Actions are repetitious, like a punishment. Reality feels remote, the possibility of escape imperceptible.
