A very girlie pink peg, but they are the best ones I found.
I am very fussy with my towels and prefer navy coloured bath sheets - the BIG ones!
Thanks to Richard for helping me to choose which peg shot I would use for my 365 set - secretly...this was my fave too.
I may have to change the title of this pic because I am at work and the sky is now full of very dodgey black clouds!
No editing or cropping of this pic.
When I was twelve my dad got me a peg top ("peg" because you peg or toss them) and taught me how to spin it. It took me a number of tries before I got the hang of it but it actually turned out to be very easy and I've taught my son to throw them, too. Dad's method of holding the top and tossing it is a bit different than that which one sees in the instructions on the web or which come with a purchased top and I think it is a superior and easier to use method. I just made these two tops over the past couple of days. The one in the lower right corner is made of camphor wood and is really easy to peg; I can throw it as hard as I want and it never fails. The one in the other three photos will spin longer than the other but it's not quite so easy to toss. Because it's fatter it takes a longer string and spins for a longer time than the other one but not as fast. It's made of scraps of maple that I had lying around.
I think my neighbours may think I am rather obsesive complusive as I was stood in our courtyard for 15 minutes arranging these pegs even before I started taking any photos!
I love that our little family of peg dolls greets all our guests from the cabinet in our entry. Read more at:
Historically,Tent peggers were the warriors on horses. They used to attack enemy camps on galloping horses. They had swords or lances in their hands and they used to cut the ropes and take out the pegs of tents on running horses. Nowadays tent pegging is an exciting and an addictive sport. Riders in colorful attires take out the pegs from ground on galloping horses.
I scored this little beauty today, was thrilled, unsure of the name maybe Poppy or Poppies ? as that's what the flower looks like. Would be grateful for any help in identifying. Thanks in advance.
today's project! probably could have made 10 more of these, they were a lot of fun! just acrylic and ink on wood pegs with eye hooks for stringing.
