The first stage of my new pegs print - the three different coloured pegs have all been printed and tomorrow I'm going to add the metal hinge using my new silver ink...
This is the first peg loom that I made for myself. And the rug behind it was my first adventure in peg weaving.
When I was twelve my dad got me a peg top ("peg" because you peg or toss them) and taught me how to spin it. It took me a number of tries before I got the hang of it but it actually turned out to be very easy and I've taught my son to throw them, too. Dad's method of holding the top and tossing it is a bit different than that which one sees in the instructions on the web or which come with a purchased top and I think it is a superior and easier to use method. I just made these two tops over the past couple of days. The one in the lower right corner is made of camphor wood and is really easy to peg; I can throw it as hard as I want and it never fails. The one in the other three photos will spin longer than the other but it's not quite so easy to toss. Because it's fatter it takes a longer string and spins for a longer time than the other one but not as fast. It's made of scraps of maple that I had lying around.
Pego foam party. To celebrate the patron saint of Pego, who had been paraded around the town earlier.. anyway this party was down the street from my apartment, needless to say both me and my camera got very drunk and very covered in foam. Awesome party with amazingly cool people that went on until about 7am! Viva Espana! Its amazing any of these came out considering how drunk I was..

Historically,Tent peggers were the warriors on horses. They used to attack enemy camps on galloping horses. They had swords or lances in their hands and they used to cut the ropes and take out the pegs of tents on running horses. Nowadays tent pegging is an exciting and an addictive sport. Riders in colorful attires take out the pegs from ground on galloping horses.
