I created this baby shower card for a friend who is expecting her first baby. I white embossed the carriage image on watercolour paper and then created the pastel background using pearlescent watercolours. I added some diy enamel dots and finished it off with a doily. I am submitting this card to www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-... ,http://vervestamps.blogspot.co.nz/p/inspiration-challenge.html and www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=1893

The negative has been lost and this is a scan of a print on pearlescent paper. How do you get rid of the reflections?
This 1935-1938 Parker Vacumatic fountain pen, possibly the "Slender" model, in laminated green emerald DuPont pearlescent celluloid, was a gift from Peter Beck, restored per advice by the Fountain Pen Shop's Fred P. Krinke. Stuart Hawkinson replaced the missing "jewel": the laminated celluloid cone secured by the metal "tassie ring" at the end of the barrel. Greg Minuskin re-tipped the broken nib, and completed restoration: installing a new diaphragm (part of the filling mechanism), polishing the cap and barrel, and re-plating the nib in the original two-tone pattern.
The pen is filled with Noodler's Ink Legal Lapis permanent ink, and shown here with a Seven Seas "Standard" A5 blank journal, thread-bound of Tomoe River paper, from Nanami Paper; "artisanal filler text" is by Hipster Ipsum.
The fender does not match the pearlescent factory paint on the KTM 640 Adventure, but it's close enough for me.
The picturesque gorge is home to a smooth, pearlescent bay and an inlet of clear, blue water. It’s flanked by two yellow-washed cliff faces and tufts of vibrant greenery. Though it looks like something out of a storybook, Loch Ard isn’t just a pretty face. In fact, it has an interesting and colourful history that spans back hundreds of years.

A tiny (fits in the palm of my hand) coptic bound book with navy blue covers, pearlescent pages and gold and red plum blossom flowers on the cover (you can't really see it in the photo but the paper is high gloss and metallic). The book is bound with red cotton perle thread and the wrap around is hand-braided threads. The card stock is a lovely orange with navy flecks on one side and navy blue on the other; the same material used in the covers for the book.
The book is held in place my another piece of card that slots through the front of the atc to the back. Another card was added with heart shaped brads to cover the slotted card and neaten things up :) The little book is fully removable if desired. This photo shows the booklet free of the card.

The S.S Pearl owned by a philanthropist multibillionaire runs year round, it's 200 suites accommodate 500 people with ease, the ship offering free and low cost cruises for people with disabilities and members and retirees of armed forces.
The pearlescent sheen of the ship is achieved through the use of opal plating across the fuselage. It is a rare and expensive method of ship finishing as it requires approximately 5 pounds of pure opal to coat a ship, the coating must be replaced every five to ten years.

A lot of work to be done, but a pretty sweet ride when I'm finished.

Nacreous clouds tonight at and after sunset. Fantastic to see, I've only seen them once before and hadn't a clue what I was looking at then. They are high altitude clouds that refract the last of the sun through ice crystals.
These waterbrushes and ink brushes by Bienfang are awful. Don't recommend.

Pearlescent varnish makes the color "shift" as it turns in the light. Very unique.
Striving for Raw & Organic natural designs, my "Art Gem" series has given me some of my most satisfying results. Each one is unique, with patterns that reflect beautiful natural flowing elements.
The technique I use to make these result in paintings that are everything from electric, wild & full of movement to calm surreal dreams. Some have described them as topo maps from a distant colorful planet, and like the outer reaches of another galaxy.
A series of small format abstract paintings. Very raw & organic with unique textures, colorful finishes & vivid imagery.
Made with layers of custom mixed acrylic & pearlescent paints, inks, powders, varnishes.
