Two equine friends that are inseperable.
This image was created by taking a photo with a Nikon D70 and then using Photoshop Elements software to apply the watercolor filter. From my perspective I think it creates an effect that is half photo and half artwork.
I personally think that you can see the "artwork" effect MUCH better if you view this at the larger sizes.....

Thank you Lida for the ID on this....I had guessed Viola but couldn't find a picture to varify!
Happy Flower Friday!!

I've always been an ND grad boy, but keen to learn new tricks this is my first attempt at layer, mask / blend. Cheers to phototoasty for the guidance, and yes once again we got pissed on by the weather ;-)
it's a fine day,
people open windows.
they leave the houses,
just for a short while.
they walk by the grass
they look at the sky
they walk by the grass
and they look at the grass
they look at the sky
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
look at the sky
look at the sky

- opus III - it's a fine day -
this song from 1992 performed by opus III came to my mind when i shot this.
One of my cats, had a litter a few weeks ago, I finally got a good photo of him. This kitten is one of three. I used Picasa's soft focus on the edges.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.

I took a little more, and care, processing this frame and thought it better than the first ... would love to do something with the sky ... maybe next time
This was Pinky last night resting on the couch. She is so happy to be home. Thank you all for your well wishes! My first manual shot with the new camera!
The Canadian (Horseshoe) falls. This is an HDR image.
I've got to go back here and do some more photography. It was getting dark when I started taking pictures yesterday and there was a lot more I wanted to do.
Check out the American Falls too!

A unique experiance for me to goto this church accompanied by a christian lady who works in our house. I didnt had much time to visit it from inside, so i had to capture it from a very difficult angle from outside.
The christian community of Sama satta is only 60 people, but like anywhere in Pakistan, every minority has full liberty to practise its religion. Alone the existance of this small church which is no bigger than a medium sized room and a courtyard is a proof of the above.
This picture was specially taken upon the request of a friend, Idreece.
My #1 fav "tool" when traveling is the Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo. It is the coolest looking instamastic film camera! But, when traveling, especially abroad, it is the quickest way to connect with fun local people. Despite having some success with my business and staying in 5-Star locations, I consider myself a working man and like to connect with people that work so hard to make everyone ELSES life really pleasant. 100% of everyone staff person at met at the Aruba Ritz Carlton was super friendly and helpful. So, I took some pics and gave them prints. The last people photo epitimizes my fav part of travel. I like clowning with people. So, these couples had to park their rental car because the road was so rough. I could see they were only 40 meters away from their car but asked them if wanted wanted a ride in my obscene super jeep...😂 They were from Amsterdam and we had a nice chat and then I took this photo to give them. In a micro second, we created a memory. This camera is so great for that!

This was a photo taken out a frosty window at our local library that I played around with in PS and came up with this image that looks more like desert sand than ice :>)
Moray Eel. I actually can't remember taking this shot when I was diving, but it turned out pretty well nonetheless. Someone commented that it looks like the eel has got lipstick on :-)
I could have stood for hours at each of these stops, watching the birds "talk" and "play" with each other... alas, I had an impatient husband and limited time :)

An oversized game of 52 Pick Up at Children's Fairyland in Oakland, California.
The storybook park opened in 1950, and was visited by a man planning a theme park of his own. Walt Disney got plenty of ideas, and even a couple of Children's Fairyland's original employees, and put them to work when he opened Disneyland.
The Qutub Minar rising shyly from between the other ruins scattered around the complex....
Part of the reason I chose sepia for this was because it was such a dull rainy day and everything felt so washed out in my camera! That apart, the charcter of the Minar and the complex is such that it begs for sepia treatment... most of the structures - or what remains of it - are in red sandstone / brown stone...
This is what I found about the Qutub Minar - at 72.5 metres (237.8 ft) and requiring 379 steps to get to the top, this it the world's tallest brick minaret. Work on this was started in 1193 and went on in bits and pieces for close to two centuries, and was finally completed in 1368...

"Though April showers may come your way,
They bring the flowers that bloom in May."
Can someone help me identify this flower?
This jellyfish has got very very long tentacles, and I got really close to it...with my lens almost touching it. Anything to get a good shot!!
Picture taken in Perhentian, Malaysia
I don't know if there really is such a thing, but to me, sure looks like one, caught it at the Peace Fountain Park in Windsor, Ontario.

25 and a half years ago the Cubs played the Mets at Wrigley Field on June 30th, 1992. I recently turned six years old and had upper deck seats behind home plate with my parents. Doug Dascenzo was up to bat for the Cubs, facing Wally Whitehurst from the Mets. Doug rips a foul ball straight back. I can see it coming towards me, panic sets in. I raise my glove, waiting for that weight to fall, and instead a waterfall of Old Style beer cascades down my back. The man behind me had caught the ball, but spilled his beer all over my awesome Cubs jacket in the process. I was devastated. I stunk like beer and watched his ecstatic celebration through my coke-bottle glasses. Then, something happened. People started chanting “give it to the kid”. “Give it to the Kid.” “GIVE IT TO THE KID!” I couldn’t believe that kid they were chanting about was me. Their chants started to echo throughout the stands. Beer man’s elation soon turned to devastation. He looked down at me and said “Here you go kid.” and relinquished his briefly-won prize. Nothing mattered after that, my jacket no longer smelled, and I was grateful for that man’s gift. Every time I go to a game, I’m waiting for the next foul ball I catch so I can pay it forward and “give it to the kid.” This picture is the ball that was given to me and has sat in a display case ever since.
Teriyaki veggie bowl at the Logan, UT Hogi Yogi/Teriyaki Stix. Yes, a restaurant that serves hoagie/subs, frozen yogurt, and teriyaki bowls. Not the greatest food but it's cheap and quick.
This is one of the only macro/closeups I've ever taken with a tripod. I have a small tabletop tripod but usually forget to grab it when I'm out and about taking photos.
I really like the light playing along the rim of the black plastic bowl, and the DOF and colors turned out pretty well.
UPDATE: The Hogi Yogi in Logan closed about four months ago, along with the Greywhale record store next door. Neither business was particularly welcoming (teenagers manning the cash registers, of course!) but I still feel a little bummed when I drive by now. It was nice having another (cheap) option for eating out here, since most of the restaurants are pretty lousy in Cache Valley. Oh well.
