Black Friday. A day synonymous with chaos, noise and some of the darker facets of human nature. So what better time to post a mono image with none of the above. Welcome respite? Or is it just me....
Amid tall grass where sunlight plays,
A man paused his walk, lost in his phone's gaze.
Messages flood in, a digital maze,
He stands still, as the world around him sways.
A loaded grain, operated by Pacific National and hauled by Clyde/EMD 8175 and a couple of unidentified Alco DL531s, waits at the Ardglen crossing loop for an empty coal train to pass - 10 May 2005.

Despite the dry winter in the North Bay, Laguna Lake along Chileno Valley Rd. in West Marin is looking quite healthy. The level of this small lake is normal. More than enough water to cast a beautiful reflection of the surrounding rolling hills. Worth a stop to enjoy and capture the beautiful scene,
Walking across the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links, paused to admire the view towards Arthur's Seat, the huge, extinct volcano which sits at the heart of Edinburgh (the Old Town and Castle sit on a volcanic spur from this). Small, sparse clouds were drifting just below the top, so I had to zoom in and take a pic before continuing on my way.
One of the things I love about Edinburgh isn't just the history and culture, but that we also get landscape views right in the middle of the city. And that landscape is also historical - Arthur's Seat was one of the spots that sparked the interest of Hutton, who would become the father of the science of geology.

Tomorrow is his birthday! :)
(One year ago he arrived with Laius!)
I can't believe I took so few pics of him since then. Why? Why???
Too many dolls maybe??? :o
Continuing our tour of the length of the Mass Central our train has arrived at the first location in Ware where they will pause for some switching. GP38-2s 1750 and 1751 have stopped at the private crossing at MP 12.9 and will pick up a healthy string of loaded high sided gons here at Tri County Recycling before continuing south into Ware Yard proper for still more work. This is a little photographed location as it requires a little walk through the woods down a hill to access the railroad, but having never been here to this customer before I it was worth documenting despite not being particularly photogenic.

This was taken last June, when I had the idea to recreate one image from my 366 series. I had my two best friends who were willing to put flour all over their bodies, and went outside almost completely naked into the freezing weather.
