On Market Street, San Francisco. The Exploratorium. Whispering Dish, Musical Bench, Pedal Generator. 2016
This photo is of a fellow Chile group member, Maggie Thompson, during an excursion we took to the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile. This photo was taken at Laguna Chaxa (a flamingo reserve) in the salares (salt flats) of San Pedro de Atacama, easily the most beautiful place I have ever visited. While the rest of the group had moved on to a new sight, Maggie took a moment to pause and savor the moment. Our trip to Atacama felt like a visit to a completely new, fascinating world- the things we saw absolutely blew me away. We bathed in hot geysers, floated in a salt lake, hiked through "Valle de la Luna" (Valley of the Moon) and stargazed into the most clear, expansive nighttime desert sky.

Doing so, you gain perspective and return home with an enlightened appreciation of both your society & world as a whole. It is a truly spiritual experience if you allow it to be.
