I went to Wells Next the Sea in the hope of getting some nice light. Unfortunately the light was very overcast. But the brightside I suppose is it was possible to get some okay black and white shots in the woods just off the beach.
The first autumnal mist is now there in my region. Here the mist is coming through the village of Blienschwiller in Alsace.
Thanks in advance for your favs and comments.
This image was taken towards the end of November and depicts a path surrounded by woodland and mist.
I've visited this particular location many times before. During this exploration I had another attempt, helped by the mist and lighting conditions I was able to capture something that I hoped could be different.
After leaving it for just over a month I decided to edit this image. The idea in mind was to create a moody scene that used the lighting and the mist to enhance this. Basically I wanted to do something that I had not tried for this scene before. After scrolling down the pre-sets that I had both created and collected over the years, I came across one that would help become the base to realise the idea I had in mind. After some adjustments I was able to create what you see now.
I don't usually do moody landscapes but decide to give it a try.

The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's only me, and I walk alone"

When I bought my camera last year I went through a stage of photographing everything. Then increasingly I got into landscapes, then long exposures and before I knew it every time I took the camera out I had it loaded up on my tripod with an ND filter attached.
Now I'm not giving up on that, I still think seascapes are my favourite subject and I love the minimalist view of the world that slowing water down allows. However I'm also keen to work on improving my alround skills. To that end, as evidenced by my stream recently I've just been going out trying to take photos as I find things, rather than searching for specific subjects to fit a style. I'm also trying to improve my editing skills. I'm also pretty obsessed at the moment with walkways (actually, since taking up photography I've realised I'm a bit more obsessive at times than I figured).
Which brings me to this image. So I've prepared both colour (which I may upload in the future) and black and white versions of this but I wanted to do something a bit different with it. Which is when I got the idea to try and boost the contrast and give it a kind of vintage/haunted look. The haunted side might work a bit better if the path were crooked but you can't have everything. What does worry me though is that I know with the settings I previously had my monitor set at, this looks quite light. Whereas with the settings I'm now using for print it's got exatly the feel I'm after. Which leaves me wondering what people viewing actually see. This is the most detailed edit I've attempted to date and I'm really happy with the end result and hopefully you're getting to see it as I intended.
If you've read all of that, thanks.

There are lots of paths to follow in the Arboretum or you can just wander about across large expanses of lawns to visit individual gardens, such as the English Garden, the Italian Garden and the Japanese Garden.

After leaving the last cave we continued our walking around the Big and Little Collapse Dolines and we admire the landscapes of the Karst region :)
The Karst region, famous for its karst phenomena, is a unique corner of Slovenia. It was here that the first studies were conducted on how water shapes, hollows out and dissolves limestone rocks, and the word "karst" itself comes from the name of this region.
