This is a famous dessert stall that sells peanut paste, almond paste and sesame paste that is smooth and non-chalky. It's so smooth, it glides down my throat and i can have it again and again..mmm yum!
It's at the temporary Chinatown Food Centre.
This is the image that AMBUSH Blog 'borrowed' from my blog and credited themselves for the image & text. When I was last in NYC, ASVP was UP ALL OVER NYC...it looks like he's in Chicago this week. Bless Jesus, because Chicago needs ASVPs Style! Wheat pastes in Chi-town are almost non-existent.
Lovely lady paste up.
"Southern trees bear Strange Fruit.
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root.
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees
Pastoral scene of the gallant south
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth
The scent of magnolia sweet and fresh
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh
Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck
for the rain to gather
for the wind to suck
for the sun to rot
for the tree to drop
Here is a strange and bitter crop.
Composed by Abel Meeropol (aka Lewis Allan)
Wow, the colour of this stuff was intense. I'd never made it before, so I checked out a few recipies online to work out what the ingredients were and then went for it.
The smell is incredible, sharp and intense. Made it in the afternoon and cooked the curry in the evening when the guests arrived. I have to say, even though I made it myself, it was bloody wonderful, and went great washed down with beer. The remainder of the paste I froze this morning for use another time.
