A peaceful stroll around Lac Blanc, nestled in the heart of the Vosges. Fresh snow blankets the peaks, having just fallen, still pristine. A true delight to wander through, to hear the soft crunch underfoot, and to give in to the urge to press the shutter. ❄️
Déambulation tranquille autour du Lac Blanc, niché au cœur des Vosges. La neige fraîche recouvre les sommets. Elle vient de tomber, immaculée encore. Un vrai plaisir de s’y promener, de laisser ses pas crisser sur le manteau blanc et de céder à l’envie d’appuyer sur le déclencheur. ❄️

El tren de alta velocidad acaba de salir de la Estación Valencia-Joaquín Sorolla, y ahora se dirige a Castellón.

A stork takes off from a field near Knokke. The somewhat awkward elegance of this moment shouldn't obscure the fact that storks are superb flyers, often covering distances of 500 kms per day on their annual migrations to Africa and back. Pretty soon most of them will be on their way.

Pas une, mais deux Chouette lapone! Le soleil venait de se cacher à l'horizon, nous étions aux dernières lueurs de la journée, une belle Chouette lapone quittait la forêt, pour se poser dans un conifère. Quelques minutes plus tard, elle débutait sa période de chasse. Durant ce temps, celle que nous avons observée durant un bon moment, chassait maintenant à quelques centaines de mètres de cette Lapone. Quelle fin de journée excitante en nature! Que du bonheurs!
Not one, but two Great Grey Owls! The sun had just hidden on the horizon, we were at the last light of the day, a beautiful Great Grey Owl was leaving the forest, to land in a conifer. A few minutes later, it began its hunting period. During this time, the one we observed for a long time, was now hunting a few hundred meters from this Lapp. What an exciting end to an outdoor day! What happiness!

Offering up some post-processing tricks for Sliders Sunday. Two cattle egrets, Bubulcus ibis, captured in a single exposure doing this Pas de Deux, but ... not nearly this close together and against a featureless sky. I recomposed and added a background in Photoshop.
And the Anhinga ...
You may notice that it's the same sky in both, with the aspect ratio adjusted to fit the subject. I just don't have very many suitable photos of skies. Using the same image for my virtual Zoom background.

Troglodyte mignon (Troglodytes troglodytes)
Qui se douterait que la voix la plus tonitruante, celle qui couvre toutes les autres dans la cacophonie matinale, provient d’un des plus petits exécutants, la petite boule de plume à queue dressée qui se faufile dans le sous-bois comme une souris? C’est que le bel organe appartient à un «macho», qui ne se satisfait pas de la conquête d’une seule femelle! Pour mettre toutes les chances de son côté, il construit autant de volumineuses demeures qu’il y aura de prétendantes.
