The Sevilla Alcazar is a palace in Sevilla, Spain. The palace is a part time residence of the Royal Family, and it is the oldest Royal Palace used in Europe. Noteworthy as it is it not mererly a singular palace but a series of palaces, the product of successive reforms that took place since the Arab occupation. Thus these grounds bring together a perfect symbiosis, a succession of architectural styles, from Islamic to Neoclassical, incorporating Mudejar elements, Gothic, Renaissance, Plateresque, Purist, Baroque and Rococo; all contributing to the magnificence of this landmark.

The Almohades were the first to build a palace, called Al-Muwarak, on the site. Most of the modern Alcázar was built over Moorish ruins for King Pedro of Castile (also known as Pedro the Cruel) with construction beginning in 1364. Pedro used Moorish workers to build his palace giving it a distinctly Islamic design. The palace is one of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture, a style under Christian rule in Spain but using Islamic architectural influence. Subsequent monarchs have added their own additions to the Alcázar. Charles V's addition of gothic elements contrasts with the dominant Islamic style.

According to legend, Sevilla was founded by Hercules and its origins are linked with the Tartessian civilisation. It was called Hispalis under the Romans and Isbiliya with the Moors. Its high point in its history was following the discovery of America.

Sevilla lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir and is one of the largest historical centres in Europe.

The Grade II Listed Museum Of Lincolnshire Life on Burton Road, Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

The museum is housed in a Victorian barracks built for the Royal North Lincoln Militia in 1857. The Militia were a force of part time volunteer soldiers whose main role was home defence. The Royal North Lincoln Militia used the barracks for training and administrative purposes and the site served as their headquarters until 1880. From this date the militia were based at the New Barracks (later Sobraon Barracks), also on Burton Road, which was headquarters to the Lincolnshire Regiment. In 1881 the Royal North Lincoln Militia officially amalgamated with the County Regiment to become the 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment.

For 20 years the site fell into relative disuse until in 1901 it was once again used by a military force. The Lincolnshire Imperial Yeomanry, a voluntary cavalry unit, used the barracks as its headquarters until it was disbanded in 1920.

The barracks building remained in military use, occupied by a variety of territorial and other army units, until 1963. Just 6 years later, on 29th July 1969, the Lincolnshire Association for the Arts and Heritage opened the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The museum was run independently by the association until 1974, when it was transferred to Lincolnshire County Council.

Since its beginnings the museum has built up a fascinating collection of over 250,000 objects, both on display and in store. Today visitors can enjoy the charming period room and shop settings displaying our wonderful social history collection, with a working Victorian kitchen and printing press during special event days. In addition the museum boasts a nationally important agricultural and industrial collection, including impressive steam engines, threshing machines and the iconic World War One tank developed and built by Foster’s of Lincoln. The museum is also home to the Royal Lincolnshire Regimental Galleries.

Visited a friend to discuss plans for the upcoming World of Dance competition coming this saturday. Its going to be LEGENDARY. =D

Saturday afternoon leaving the village our attention was drawn by hundreds of bicycles under the trees. Drawing closer we saw a gold mine. The ground was riddled with narrow shafts five or so meters deep, at the bottom of which young men, maybe adolescents were digging out the pay dirt. The dirt was hauled by other young men and carried away to be washed by the women. Hundreds of children skipped around the holes, I was not sure if they were there to gawk and play or work. I made a mental note to work more on this.

Alhamdulillah, i just completed the Squires Kitchen (UK) Professional Cake Decorating Diploma last weekend and i'm all excited about it.

i've been wanting to attend a cake decorating course eversince the moment i've decided to put a name to my home baked part time biz but i just couldnt decide which course would be the best to sign up for (of course i gotta consider the MYR i have to part with... since i chose to fund it with the margin i got from my cake biz )

and the classes fee & the tools are not cheap tho :-/

so when i read about this SK course from the icca website i just couldnt hold the excitement to join the class especially when Rosalind Chan is the instructor (she's synonymous to the brand Wilton in M'sia).

so, here's a glimpse of every bit of the syllabus covered. she told us, you all are gonna learn the British way of decorating the cakes; lots of details and lots of enhancements and lots of patients needed

well..my artwork may not be as perfect.....but i'm loving every bit of the experience :-)

Yellow G3 Genuine Zeiss Ikon® 37mm push-on filter that I paid too much for from one of those Left Coast camera shops that sells on e-bay, but had to have (with Zeiss clamshell case).

Edited photo from latest test of my Super Ikonta C 6x9 (530/2) folding camera. A fogged area was burned in.

This is only the second roll that I've put through it. I tested it when first received almost 2 years ago, and thought the amber film number window was fogging the film. I changed the windows to a dark red, and keep them covered with gaffers tape when not winding (which I try to do in shade). I'm slow to convince, but it is now obvious that there are still leaks in the bellows (proven with a flashlight). This was the least damaged of 8 frames, because I was inside a building when I made the shot.

So, do I try to replace the bellows with a Kodak of similar size, or make one from scratch, possibly in a burgandy or dark maroon? I have some fabric in both colors, or maybe dark blue or the standard black?

meet me in Alberta

The heat is on from the moment Raphael

concludes his apprenticeship. He starts working part time as a lecturer while

searching around for a permanent job of his calibre. He meets Virginia, a state

registered general nurse in training. Together they become an inseparable item.

He finds contract work that pays well and is within his trade 280-kilometres

away from his love. In her part, Virginia concludes her training and is posted

further away from her dream boy. As he thinks he is settling down Virginia

slips through his fingers like an eel in muddy water. She marries another

person. Smitten, he turns to his work and his experience but his heart cries

out for love. Four times he meets the same woman in a bus and in another

location. Dorothy is not his type but she does have charm, elegance, charisma

and things work well between him and her. She is not desperate to end her late

spinsterhood but they do work well. He married her. He thinks he has settled

won years later when he meets Virginia again. He is tired of one contract after

another without getting any permanent work until he gets a call to Alberta,

Canada. Both women want to be with him, Dorothy as his wife and Virginia as his

girlfriend but of whom will he share his Alberta abode? Will a double divorce

and remarriage work with Raphael and Virginia or will the African cultural

establishment work its pressure and charm on him. Only one woman can win the

race to meet Raphael in Alberta.

I had a chance to visit Kamimoto Strings in San Jose's Japantown yesterday. One of the interns on the Web team at SCU works there part-time. She showed the owners my portfolio and they were curious about how I might shoot their shop. I spent about an hour shooting around the shop with the TtV rig, the Lensbaby Composer/Sweet 35 combo, the GF1 and Pinwide, and the E-PL3 with the Oly 17mm 2.8 and Panny 7-14mm f4. I took a few iPhone shots, too. They were pretty busy, and I tried not to get in the way, but I think I captured the essence of their business...

As anybody knows, sometimes a part-time ass manager is not quite enough.

WestChester Lagoon.

The houses over here look so expensive. I'm a bit jealous. I wonder how many of them have odd jobs like butterfly expert or tea leaf medium and part time star gazer. I'm making a joke based on HGTV when they'd have couples with these jobs and crazy ass budgets somehow.
