He looks like the garden pet!

But know., this is a wild buzzard., and he's an absolute beauty as well

You'll know by now we 'love' our raptors., and spend a lot of time chasing them around.,

Doing all of this we have got to notice the variations in colour and even facial features from one bird to another

Even in the avian world., some birds are just better looking than others & this one could easily get a job as a part-time model!

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a green day at Color my World Daily and we have another green picture for this occasion.

As you might or might not know, I‘m officially back at my office two day per week. Generally my coworkers are ecstatic about those 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home scenario. But in my case, it isn’t a huge improvement since I work part time: 3 days a week. So the 2 days when I have to go to my office are a huge hassle for me. I feel like Mrs Bag lady in this picture ! I have my huge bag (with all the useful things a middle age women (that is me !!) might or might not need while being away from home). Then I have my purse with my money, my phone, my subway card and my office key card
oh and a few emergency masks just in case they would come back in style. And of course, I have my computer bag, with my computer and my headset in it. I have to mention that when the weather is uncertain, I have some spare shoes and an umbrella. It is official people: without even noticing it, I have become a bag lady.

Have a beautiful day !! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!

I try to get more followers on my instagram account. So if you are on IG and want to follow my feed, I will follow back for sure ! You can find me over here : www.instagram.com/anteketborka/?hl=fr

FYI: because of my renovation project I have to, constantly, move our stuff from one room to another on a very short notice !! So once again, I have to apologize for not answering your comments
I will try to catch up very shortly but for the next few days I’m afraid I will be M.I.A. (missing in action) !!!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!

A rather unproductive week photowise.

Started a new job after being invited to the world of redundancy, found it didn’t quite live up to its part time description...7 to 8hrs per day instead of 4.

Something has triggered another deliciously agonising episode of g**t, so I’m at a bit of a lower ebb than normal...

...in addition our holiday to Spain has been knocked on the head due to a rising spike in Covid...oh the effin joys.

So this pic is an alternative take on an earlier posting for which I do not apologise.

Anyone from the UK and of a certain vintage may well associate the image with Hovis bread and the strains of the New World Symphony.

This lovely yellow knitted Bee is part of a Yarn Bombing display near a local library. It is a happy wee round Bee being visited by a real Bee, which I only wished I managed to get completely in focus.

It is a beautiful October day but I am sending good wishes to my good friend S, whose mother is fading fast. S has a busy life, with partner, 3 adult children, 2 grandchildren, a mother with dementia and part-time work. But she has always had time and kindness for all these responsibilities. All the best to her and her family.

How wonderfully civil; melt in the mouth butter shortbreads waiting to be eaten 'neath the Christmas tree, accompanied by a nice cup of tea.

I make butter shortbreads each year for family and friends for Christmas as a gift. What started as a small offering has now become almost too much for me as word spread, and requests came in. Since I started working part-time, it makes it a little easier. I have to set aside a whole weekend at least which I devote just to the baking of Christmas fare in my little kitchen. So as my oven temperature increases, so does the volume on my stereo as I play a selection of my Christmas albums whilst I bake.

This year I made ten trays of shortbread biscuits, so around one hundred and fifty shortbread biscuits, made with a recipe almost one hundred years old, each injected with just a bit of love to the recipients.

Merry Christmas and bon appétit!

I live part time in Curitiba, Brazil (nice place to escape the Las Vegas summer heat) and this museum is just a couple of blocks from my apartment. It’s fun to wonder around here and try different lenses, many of which I use are vintage lenses on mirrorless cameras. This particular shot of these concrete cones was taken using a Fujifilm X-T5 and a Zuiko 50mm @ f1.4.

Our holiday home in Lancashire is near the village of Capernwray, a few miles from the border with Cumbria (though the south of it has now become Westmorland again!) The nearest town, with its three large supermarkets, is Carnforth, about five miles away. If Judy wants to do a major shop she'll go to one of these. But if we simply want a few things we'll avoid the town centre traffic and drive through the country lanes to the village of Hornby, which is about the same distance. The little village shop seems to stock virtually everything - though prices are obviously a bit higher - while across the road from there is a delightful cafe which also acts as a part-time post office. It has become a favourite place for a coffee and a mid-day snack.

In the distance we can see the northern edge of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is mostly in Lancashire though part of it was formerly in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Part of that is now in North Yorkshire. I do wish they wouldn't mess around with county boundaries!

RM1941 (ALD941B) Route 15H at Trafalgar Square

It was late in the evening and many of our friends were a little worse for wear. Two of them had crept up to their hotel rooms and returned to the party wearing pyjamas, ordering espresso martinis at the bar. I was driving, so all of the revelry was passing me by after that single pint I’d had several hours earlier before the pasties arrived. It was almost time to go, when Lisa, who we'd both known for well over twenty years, collared us. “I want you both to f*** off,” she slurred gently, “and I mean f*** off in the nicest possible way, go on lots of adventures, and remind the rest of us that there’s life out there once you leave.” Many of us had worked together for a very long time and had become members of this huge institutionalised family of sorts. Whether she might have been rather less forthright with the Anglo-Saxon in a lesser state of inebriation, I’ll never know, but we assured her we’d do that.

We were attending a retirement knees up in honour of one of the vice principals, a lady loved by us all, who’d finally found the escape tunnel after forty-one years at the education grindstone, well over twenty of those in our further education college. Quite frankly, anyone who can survive for that long in the sector deserves a telegram from the king, a carriage clock the size of Big Ben and a self filling reservoir of gin when they hang up the gown and take their pension. It was her night and we were all on her side. But she wasn’t the only recent retiree. Your narrator, freshly returned from eight days in the Brecon Beacons, had also only just handed back his abacus after a far more modest twenty-one years at the chalkboardface. Ali was still teaching on Saturdays, but had finished her full time job at the college almost three years earlier. And if you’re wondering why it was the Brecon Beacons and not the Bahamas, well, we were still drifting in and out of lockdowns and overseas travel was only for those who weren’t overwhelmed by the mountains of paperwork, the vaccination passports and the compulsory wearing of masks on the beaches in Benidorm and Benalmadena. Besides which, we rather like the Brecon Beacons.

It’s a great tradition at this time of year for those of us whose lives are no longer governed by the academic calendar to cram as many holidays as we possibly can into the diary as soon as the kids go back to school. Jokes abound on the social media chat about escapees gadding off in the direction of southern blue skies while the inmates turn grey with anxiety on the first day of September. It’s no coincidence that in my first full September of freedom, I spent two weeks taking photographs in Iceland. We love purposefully avoiding term time holidays now. Far quieter, much much cheaper and extremely high scoring on the giant smugness indicator that's been erected on the roundabout at the entrance to the college. And because neither of us have forgotten Lisa’s instructions, we always post a few phone snaps on Faceplant, just to check that she’s paying attention. And when she does spot a photo of us gurning into our phones at the top of a volcano in Fuerteventura, or slumped on a beach such as this one in Zakynthos, she always reacts with a big red love heart rather than a further instruction to go forth and multiply. Sometimes it almost feels as if we're going on holiday for her rather than ourselves.

And today, it’s exactly three years since my last ever day at work. Not once have I ever thought to myself “I wish I’d stayed on for another couple of years,” or “perhaps I should get a part time job.” Never. Not ever. Not even maybe. In a few days we’re off on another trip, to lounge about on beaches, potter around markets sampling cheese and olives, linger over long lunches and swim where the sea is still warm. Another island we’ve never been to before, and another place where just maybe I’ll find something to photograph (it won't surprise you to learn I’ve been doing my research). But it really won’t matter whether I take a shot or not, because the main thing is that we escaped to enjoy these golden years without worrying about the endless deadlines and dramas of yesteryear on a daily basis. None of us are here forever, and work gets in the way of an awful lot of life. We owe it to Lisa, and all of our other friends who are still toiling and trying to get a tiny bit closer to that exit door. And I just know she's got a big red heart waiting for when we post that snap of us dozing in deckchairs while so many of our old friends are tearing out what's left of their hair amid the autumn term insanity.

Europe - UK - United Kingdom - England - Northumberland - North East of England - Mary's Lighthouse - Whitley Bay - Tyne & Wear Coast - Tidal island linked to mainland by concrete causeway which is submerged at periods of high tide

St Mary's Lighthouse, near Whitley Bay, is on a tidal island which is linked to the mainland by a concrete causeway which is submerged at periods of high tide. The lighthouse and adjacent keepers' cottages were built in 1898. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1984.

Reached between the tides via a short causeway from the car park, St. Mary's has all the fascination of a miniature, part-time island. Visitors can climb the 137 steps inside the tower to the lantern room to enjoy spectacular views along the North East coast of England. If you cannot manage the steps, a live video facility allows you to experience the same panorama at ground level.

One of those spectacular sunrises with fantastic colors. Just dont be fooled by the color of the lighthouse, it is not sunrise colors reflected, it has rather unusual purple color illumination.

Sorry I've been away for the last while. I'm back to my part-time job in the seasonal department at RONA for for a stretch, and I've also been working as a scorer for the Ontario Grade Ten Literacy Test. Scored about 3000 tests. All-in-all a pretty intense time. Karen and I are also looking after the grandkids a fair bit, now that the the good weather is here (sort of), and various kids' activities have started up again.

Haven't had time for photography; thus, this image picks up from where I left off in my Mountsberg set.

Will be around to see you all ASAP, but It'll likely take a bit.

The extensive wetlands of the Mountsberg Conservation Area are a birdwatcher’s paradise. Waterfowl and shorebirds clamber about a misty lake while hundreds of warblers flit through forest and meadow. Nature surrounds you at this scenic conservation area that has great hiking and cross-country ski trails outfitted with boardwalks, birdfeeders and interpretive lookouts. You can even take in that first taste of spring on a horse drawn wagon ride in the Mountsberg Sugar Bush where maple syrup, pancakes and sweet sugar candy create indelible family memories.

You can even come face to face with a great horned owl. browse the exhibit gallery or gift shop, or see a live bird presentation during a year-round program with many special events. The call of the wild awaits you at this exciting conservation area!

Clouds, due to monsoon moisture, began to form early this morning over the mountains, and it rained hard again by afternoon. We've lived here part-time or full time for 25 years, and I am sure this is the wettest monsoon season we've experienced. We have already exceeded our annual precipitation average with four months left in the year. However, we all know it can shut off like a faucet so we thankfully and happily accept what we have received. It's also very localized and some areas of Colorado have received much less. The personality of this old Case backhoe was shining through.

A vast ocean of darkness fills the rocky banks of Arizona's largest canyon. The fleeting embers of glowing rock fade fast as the sun sets for the day. Looking from above, the Man with No Name diligently scans the vast depths below. While no stranger to unfriendly encounters, the sheer vastness of this land - as well as the lack of knowledge of what dangers may lurk within it - compels this part-time gunslinger to have additional firepower by his side.

Some months ago I started to work part time, and take a preparatory course (this course is to take the test that was supposed to be the begining of this year, but it will supposely happen only next year). This course finally reached its end on April. I took a couple of weeks off and am now, working in the morning, taking my preparatory courses in the afternoon, I run three days per week in a park after classes, get home, eat, watch the news, and read whatever I have in hands (related to the test I want to take) 'till I find it's time to sleep, usually 22:30.

I am now making a lot less money than I used to, but am also studying a lot more in a less stressing way.

I was planning to go to USA on June/July this year, but that won't happen because I didn't get enough money (and there was the car problem, and some other unplanned expenses), nor time to go to SĂŁo Paulo to request a Visa.

I was invited to go to Spain on Novermber, and I really would like to go, but that will happen only if I boost print sales sky high.

I would also like to go to USA on March or April next year (If the test I want to take really takes place on February as everyone expects), but according to my finances, that seems even harder to happen.

The problem with the test is that the last time it took place was in 2005!!! It should had taken place in 2007, 08 and 09! And nobody is sure if it will take place next year.

I'm just saying it all because I kind of said some of it to some people, who told other people whom I hadn't told anything and they got pissed because I hadn't said anything to them, and then there were other people worried about the amount of time I'm still "wasting" with photos and this and that... So, just making things clear, I take a camera where ever I go, so most photos "just happen" and don't take much of my time. The editing takes just as little of my time, lately, no more than 15 minutes. I upload photos usually during lunch time, while my brain is in "roaming mode".

That's it... and I'm kind of up set.
