I have to admit, the design fascinates me. I made my first visit to The Bullring Shopping Centre at the weekend, and took a few shots. No, there's no train in view either.

The redevelopment of the original Bull Ring development in Birmingham in the 60's was completed in 2003. To me, the most impactful part is the Selfridges store, which is clad with 15,000 shiny aluminium discs, supposedly inspired by a Paco Rabanne sequined dress! The store is connected to a multi storey car park by The Parametric Bridge, a 37 metre long curved structure covered in polycarbonate.

There isn't that much more for me to take of Selfridges in Birmingham, having taken it hundreds of times before over the years.

This view from the top deck of the no 50 bus as it goes around Moor Street and onto Park Street, before heading down Digbeth.

Moor Street Car Park is opposite and is linked by the Parametric Bridge.

Beyond is the Beorma Quarter phase 2 site. The old Music Hall and former pub on the corner of Digbeth and Park Street may have to be demolished for the planned Beorma Quarter skyscraper tower on the site.

The council have yet to take down the city centre Christmas lights, but they are now turned off. Every year they keep reusing the same ones.

WFreeform (2016, #parametric #data-driven #3Dprinting bracelet)

Part of data-driven project for @Freeform (formerly ABC Family) brand relaunch, commissioned by Deep Local. WFreeform is my personal execution and constitutes one of 5 parametric designs, the entire project being a collaboration with Madeline Gannon and Deep Local creatives.

Coded in Processing using Modelbuilder, Hemesh and Toxiclibs libraries for scaling to headless cloud-based model generation. Data input consists of users' Twitter feeds, with 5000 total users picked via online sweepstakes.

Generative semantic typography is a project by Matteo Moretti, a workshop where participants produces generatives artifacts through a series of semantic experimentation. This process allows to separate the design and code, first reflecting on the relation between visual and verbal comunication on a word and only then implement it in an algorithm that will produce infinite variations of the same generating idea.

Bearing in mind the three dimensions of architecture task -organization, articulation, signification- and in an effort to create an structural autopoietic system that will offer new opportunities for architectural articulation, the study explores articulation of structural morphologies -through principles of stigmergic collaboration and structural coupling- that will allow the articulation between a variety of spaces by transitions through structural tectonic static morphing.

By self-regulating critical variables of force distribution within a structural system, the ecology of agents is developing an automatic mechanism of self-regulation - homeostasis/autopoiesis system - where the system becomes self-producing, allowing for a correlated and differentiated multi-system. Where like in natural systems, compositions are so highly integrated that they cannot be easily decomposed into independent subsystems. It becomes a system with self-reference and self-regulation which further evolves by using structural coupling. Therefore recognizing that the outside influences cannot shape the system's

internal structure, but act only as a trigger that causes the structure to alter its current attractors.

The ecology of agents allows to correlate multiple systems, and encourage contributive coexistence of different articulation layers.
