We cleaned out and whitened the stable just this last summer to make the horse being more comfortable: looking at it I got caught by the symmetry of the angle i took the picture of.

I decided to try to upload some pictures taken with my mobile phone (Sony Xperia Z1) I already had on Instagram: I was basically having fun looking at what I could do with more technical limitations.

popped into parallax art fair last night with khanisa to see ellie spafford's work.

you can find her in gallery 1, just near the entrance again tomorrow.

there were fewer artists exhibiting than the two previous fairs i've been to, and subsequently less of a crowd, but some really excellent work to look at.

Parallax

Artist: Benjamin Jay Shand (Australia)

Collaborator: Nicolas Locane (Australia)

Parallax is inspired by the qualities of stalactites cladding the upper limits of a cave ceiling. In nature, these geological formations are created by the precipitation of minerals present in water as they drip through caverns. Benjamin Jay Shand reinterprets these vertical formations by suspending translucent linear elements from a gridded lattice of engineered steel.

As they hang from the canopy above, a very slight horizontal movement complements the strong vertical elements of the sculpture. Each ‘stalactite’ also glows with an illuminated pulse.
