My mother saved a lot of my school stuff so I had to laugh when I found this number book from 1953 when I was in kindergarten. I seemed to have mastered my 8's but I was having trouble with my 9's. Apparently I solved my problem because I was a school teacher for 31 years!

Playing around with the layers, I added a "New" Variation H to this series. This variation quite similar to the 6-Pointed Star G. The back of the model is the Basic 6-Pointed Star A.
The model is assembled from 6 modules folded from 7.5cm square Duo-coloured papers. Numerous patterns can be generated by adding simple folds to certain parts of the module.
There are no diagrams for this "New" variation. The diagrams for the earlier variations are posted in my old website - web.singnet.com.sg/~owrigami/geomet.htm [not updated]

French Resistance
Women in the French resistance played an important role in opposing German occupying forces during WW2, they represented 15 to 20 percent of the total number of resistance fighters within the country and 15 percent of political deportations to Nazi run concentration camps.

This series was created in 1988 and published in Modular Origami [self-publication]
The model is assembled from 6 modules folded from 7.5cm square Duo-coloured papers. Numerous patterns can be generated by adding simple folds to certain parts of the module.
If the folds are repeated for the back, a hexagonal hole will be formed in the centre of the star. In this model, the pattern on the back of the model has the same pattern as Star A. .

The Puzzle Pieces or Tans in this Tangram are based on 30, 60, 90 & 120 degree geometry and folded from 4 sheets of 15cm square Crumpled Papers.
The Diamond piece has been dissected and replaces the "Swallow's Tail" piece of the Star Tangram. Likewise the 7 Tans can also be rearranged to form a into rectangle, more closer to a square shape.
The rectangle formed by this Star Tangram #3 has the same ratio [1:1.29] as the Star Tangram #2.

County Durham, 23rd March 1953. Report number Cmd 9399. 1 dead & 2 injured.
An explosion which occurred at Horden Colliery, County Durham, at 9.15 a.m. on the 23rd March, 1953, when one person was killed and two others injured, and which, during the subsequent recovery operations, was followed five hours later by a second explosion, fortunately without any casualties. The one person who lost his life in the explosion, and found that he was accidentally killed by an explosion underground and that his death Was caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Horden Colliery, which was sunk in 1900 mainly for the purpose of working undersea coal, is situated on the coast at the village of Horden, 15 miles south of Sunderland. It produces some 4,200 tons of coal per day from the Five Quarter, Main Coal, Low Main and Hutton Seams, giving employment to 2,711 persons underground and 862 on the surface. About half of the output is obtained from the Low Main Seam.
The mine is served by three shafts, the North and East Pits, both to the Hutton Seam at 1,196 feet, and the South Pit, 1,083 feet deep to the Low Main Seam. The 20-feet diameter North and South Pits are downcasts and both wind coal. The East Pit, 17 feet in diameter, is the main man-riding and upcast shaft
