This unknown cove named Valtoudi, on the coastline of Pelion, turned out to be an endless photographic goldmine with fishing boats, small pleasure craft and lacy morning clouds reflected in its almost still waters.

One of my favourite villages and I make a point to visit it on every trip I make to Cyprus. It is very close to the Monastery of Macheras and to another favourite village of Phikardou.
The creation of these villages are linked with the foundation of the Macheras Monastery circa 1160 and were given as a privilege to the new Monastery during the Byzantine era.
During 1192-1489 when the Lusignans ruled the island they implemented the feudal system and abolished the privileges of the monastery. The village was given as a fief to some Lusignan. The Orthodox population reacted by saying the phrase "the land of the Lusignians, in the Cypriot dialect "Lazaniades". From this phrase came the name of the village.
According to the 2001 census, it had 33 inhabitants. By 2018 there were only 7. However, the village has had a flow of development recently and during weekends several families return from the towns where they sought employment and salvation.
For those interested in the creation of this panoramic, it comprises eight portrait shots @70mm, hand held so there is ample overlap. It was stiched together effortlessly in LightRoom.

Another photo from the series "The other Liguria". Because Liguria is not only the one with the sea, beaches and umbrellas. The interesting thing is that sea, beaches and umbrellas are only 13 kilometers from where I took the picture.
Un'altra foto della serie "The other Liguria".
Visit and follow:

Another panoramic at the end of Glen Derry, with our destination rising high to the right, the mountain called Beinn Mheadhoin (pronounced Bane Vee-arrn). The Hutchison Memorial Hut lies dwarfed by the dramatic Scottish Highlands.
