.... The best places to SUP (Stand Up Paddling) in Toronto are Ashbridge's Bay, Woodbine and Kew Beach ....
Despite being early November, the temperature was pretty mild this afternoon, after the morning rain stopped, and Portobello, Edinburgh's seafront area, was pretty busy. People were out strolling the Promenade, eating at the wee cafes along it by the beach, some were cooking on the beach, others walking dogs, some playing beach volleyball, others even going in for a swim while rowboats and paddleboarders were out on the water.

These tourists were undoubtedly from the north, as this was a super chilly and windy day at Vero Beach! I was bundled up nicely, but still cold, especially my hands, holding the camera, and I wondered where these folks were from that walking in tee shirts and barefoot didn't seem to bother a couple of them! Even the paddle boarder in the background appeared to be in a partial wet suit for warmth. In case you're wondering, no, it wasn't just a touch cool, either! It was chilly in the sun, but cold in the wind!
People think Florida is always warm, which it is most of the time, but when it decides to get cold around here, we break out the jackets and gloves like everyone else! It was probably in the low 50's and feeling like low 40's or cooler in the wind. While that might seem warm to people from Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan, even my friends from up north break out their jackets when it's like that here. The wind and dampness seems to make the chill cut through to your bones, something no one expects when visiting the so called "Sunshine State".
This is one of my favorites. From way back in the day, taken on a $99 point and shoot from Target... This is one of a handful of images from around this time that woke up the wannabe photographer in me.
Upon graduating, two of my good friends from college decided to go all expat and move to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I had the good fortune of visiting them, and during the visit they took me across the river to Punta del Este, Uruguay.
It was intermittently storming that night, and after the clouds broke we grabbed some cheap beers and went for a stroll along the beach. A little ways up the coast from the tourist shops and overpriced burger joints, we found a group of local children playing soccer on the beach. As I was trying to take their picture, a paddle boarder came into view...
Thanks for checking it out :D

There was a strong cold wind, and these 2 must have been freezing. By the time I'd walked along the beach to get closer to them, they were getting out.
