Packaging can be divided into many different categories. One way is to divide packaging into different functional layers, for example, primary packaging that primarily encloses the product and secondary packaging that acts as a secondary layer and tertiary packaging that is most often shipping packaging. However, another way of categorizing packaging is through its retail function. In this category, you will come across the retail and non-retail packaging. Retail packaging is obviously the opposite of non-retail packaging. This means this is the packaging that is designed to be attractive and is designed for placement on retail shelves.

Shall I make a long story short? In 1991 my dear bandmates and I made record... er a cassette, actually. We sold it at our gigs, and to family and friends. Two of the songs got a little airplay on our local NPR station. The band played from 1990 to 1993, and it was a seminal experience in my career. The friendships formed with my Akoustik Brothers and Sister are lifelong and unique.
Recently, (hell, months ago!) My Brother, biological brother, that is, started asking me if Oval Window was ever re-recorded onto cd. I did not know, but later asked my Akoustik Brother Link. We have all gone our separate ways, and while we live within forty miles of each other, we rarely see each other. We talk on the phone a few times a year. Anyway, he had just happened to have a friend make a copy for him. Last week I went to my old hometown of Denton to pick up a copy from him. We also jammed a little. (I am going to have to do that more often. I have hardly improvised since joining Fort Worth Symphony full-time, and I miss it.)
So, inspired by My Brother's persistent interest in our music, and the wonderful timeless friendships, and my own wonder at how "that old stuff still sounds pretty good!", I spent many hours over the last few days suing my photo and photoediting skills. Back when we made that music, I never would have imagined this other, visual, creative outlet in my life. I hope that the refurbished packaging will make a nice little gift to my Brothers and Sister, both kinds, in honor of our bonds.

An awesome project where three illustrators were asked to reinterpret the Niknaks packaging based on reference provided by the public. The public then gets to vote for their favorite and that will become the new packaging for Niknaks.
We registered for this clock for our wedding from some random website. Apparantly it ships from Hong Kong, which is kind of ridiculous, but it came in such lovely packaging with really cute bird stamps. So I guess that makes up for it having to be shipped from half way across the wold, right?

This is a hinged clamshell that encapsulates your product and then snaps closed, but it has a flange around the perimeter of the clamshell that allows it to be heat sealed to a blister card. Aim — To come up with a packaging solution that solves a problem I always seem to face, cooking too much and therefore wasting spaghetti.
(Brief set on my degree course).
Result — A hexagonal prism separating the spaghetti into six individual serving sizes. The idea being the packaging can then be kept, refilled and used again and again.
