Packaging can be divided into many different categories. One way is to divide packaging into different functional layers, for example, primary packaging that primarily encloses the product and secondary packaging that acts as a secondary layer and tertiary packaging that is most often shipping packaging. However, another way of categorizing packaging is through its retail function. In this category, you will come across the retail and non-retail packaging. Retail packaging is obviously the opposite of non-retail packaging. This means this is the packaging that is designed to be attractive and is designed for placement on retail shelves.
