Shot at a warehouse in Tyler, Tx.
My niece...she kept walking across
this and jumping off. God knows why.
Kid's are weird.
Pretty sure I overprocessed the Moon insofar as producing a nice & well-composed image...
But I also kind of liked how otherworldly it feels; as if it's located much nearer within our atmosphere rather than well beyond it.
Wishing everyone a VERY Merry Christmas and Happy upcoming New Year!
Lot's been going on........
Work has been hell.........but it's a job and I'm thankful to have it. It's a major challenge for me.
Adrian failed two recent hearing tests......have an Audiology appointment on the 3rd. Hopefully we can find out if THIS is what is causing the speech issues. I have often wondered if maybe it truly was a hearing problem. He is getting much better at the school I have him in. I had him in public school and well....that wasn't working too well. I switched him to a great Montessori school. It's not cheap but its worth it and he has come a long way in such a short time. He also has a double ear infection which he has been basically been chronically getting since he was a year old. This too is another problem that may be causing both the hearing problems and speech issues. This recent doctor said to get him allergy tested.......so that too is on my agenda. LOL
Missing mom...this is her holiday and it's kind of hard to get into "spirit". I decorated this year for Adrian and for her. I am also remembering that its about Jesus....the reason for the Season. ;o)
I have Adrian holding on to "HOPE".......and together we are sending HOPE to you for the coming year!
xoxoxo
*Side note.......it was actually REALLY cold when I took this photo. I asked Adrian to come outside and he was like "Hurry up mom my EYES are too cold". It was about 45 degrees which for the Florida Keys.......is VERY cold. lol
One of my Black-breasted Buzzard pair flies home with a nice new carpet for the nest.
Some raptors line their nests with fresh eucalypt leaves when they are in residence, it's thought that this might be to reduce parasites as an antiseptic. It certainly improves the looks.
The light was harsh which partly explains the hard look. It might also be a bit overprocessed.
This pair of Black-breasted Buzzards were nesting in a large euc on the bank of the Lyons River, 100m upstream from the road crossing. (The river was not running as is normal outside rain times, but there were a few waterholes with water). The birds seemed to be in the initial stages of nesting, or had just laid and were waiting to lay more. Not much sitting was going on, and no feeding. I watched them for a couple of hours on two days as we camped 10km away. A pair of Whistling Kites had set up nest exactly opposite in an even taller tree.
A Blue Heron on the shores of Pierce Lake in Rock Cut State Park, Illinois.
It is America's largest species of heron, standing over 3ft tall with a wingspan of nearly 7ft.
I tried to show restraint in the processing of this pic, because it really didn't need much. But also because I took a bunch of pics of this guy (and two of his friends), so I've got plenty of material that I can apply my overprocessed look to some other time.
I swear I haven't been doing nothing this summer! Here's the last couple of weeks of canning, buffed and waiting for labels. We've got peach salsa, cascabel peach barbecue sauce, some watery crushed tomatoes, and nine-chile salsa. There are untold hours of chopping representing in these jars. Salsa is a bear, yo.

I took this last night. A 4 second exposure for the light trails. I'm glad I could get the bike in the foreground.
I admit I overprocessed it. Lots of stuff done to this and in the end I just was lazy to stop editing and re-edit this.

ok - this is my "other" entry for the Raleigh photo challenge - yes - I am sometimes an overachiever.
strobist info - 2 bare strobes left and right of model - 24 x 36 softbox camera right.
Melinda thought I should have used this one...
Mon. Nov. 23rd Walkabout.
D90 - Nikon 80-200 f2.8 AF-D.
Feedback welcomed. Prefer Color or B&W version?
To overprocessed? Should have shot at f22 instead of f4.
Snapped on my P&S, dogs on dog walk to polling station this evening. P&S underperforming tonight (blaming my tools?!) so this is the best of a bad lot.
Unashamedly, I have returned to my roots of over processing. Perhaps Kim Klassen can save me from myself when I take her Beyond Layers class later this month.
another "trial" HDR (with the photomatix water mark as I'm still using the trial version and deciding whether to purchase it)
This is amazing technology - the sum of the parts (3 photos) is much better than any of them individually.
Update: After fooling around with a few more HDR trials I bought the s/w - it's wonderful and I'm hooked on HDR (but not that overprocessed surreal stuff that over-jealous technologists generat....)
I love the mission architecture - bricks, plaster, wooden beams, arches and of course, the beautiful lush gardens.
That time of the week to go sliding - shot this as we were shopping for Baby Stuff yesterday for a Grand Niece.
Used PRISMA - Style: Breakfast filter - for a Painterly effect - passed thorough a number of applications - then slide for HSS before this image appeared.
For - Happy Slider Sunday - HSS!
An attempt at over-processing a picture - on purpose.
A praia de seixos de Shingle Street, em Suffolk. A vila é tão pequena que nem constava no GPS do carro. Ainda bem que existem mapas.
The shingle beach at Shingle Street in Suffolk. So out of the way it wasn't even on our SatNav. Thank goodness for maps.
I had so many things planned today, and then I feel asleep and lost 5 hours. Its not something I should make a habit of.
Updated version of an old image.
Feedback welcome! (EDIT: if you think its shit..3 shit votes will spur me to take this one down. Honestly it looks overprocessed to me.)

But the colours... I don't know, man.. I dig em.

I am in love with toys.
Queen: All alone, my pet?
Snow White: Why... why, yes, I am, but...
Queen: The... the little men are not here?
Snow White: No, they're not, but...
Queen: [Sniffing] Mm-hmm. Baking pies?
Snow White: Yes, gooseberry pie.
Queen: It's apple pies that make the menfolks' mouths water. Pies made from apples like these.
Snow White: Oh, they do look delicious.
Queen: Yes, but wait 'till you taste one, dearie. Like to try one? Go on. Go on, have a bite.
Ever since I grew up, I have always wanted ot live here. It kind of has a Willy Wonka feel to it... very well kept and clean... and very fantasy like.
I threatened a macro didn't I? I just didn't think it would turn out this bad. This really needed a higher angle and that really needed natural light, not a dodgy desk lamp with strobing LED.
These new pound coins came out at the end of last month, but it's taken until last week for me to get hold of one, and I picked that up in the Lake District.
Admittedly, that's largely down to the fact that I make very few cash transactions!
This is overprocessed to try and compensate for the crappy light, and has the super shallow depth of field we find with all macro work, but there's a little bit of it in focus somewhere.
The coin itself is a funny one. The front feels like a normal coin but the back just makes me want to peel off the foil and eat the chocolate within.
Soon enough they'll be absolutely commonplace, but this one will always be my first. :)
Photographing in forests is a challenge - the light is low and uneven. With this shot, I fused three exposures with the "high dynamic range" technique to overcome these light issues. I think it works quite well, and the image does not have the overprocessed look to it like many other HDR images.

One of our favorite style icons is giving us major hair inspiration. Jennifer Lawrence has changed up her hair yet again and added bangs!
The 26-year-old was recently spotted rocking some chic, blunt bangs on the set of her upcoming film “Red Sparrow.”
While the new ‘do is likely for her role as a Russian spy in the film, we aren’t sure if it’s wig or an actual chop. She looks so fabulous that we’re hoping this fringe is here to stay.
Lawrence is no stranger to changing up her ‘do. From bobs to pixies to even different types of bangs, she’s tried it all.
While the actress has been a blonde for most of her career, in May 2016, she stepped out with platinum locks that created instant summer hair color inspiration.
This flirty bob looks inspired by flapper girls in the ’20s.
This haircut was the result of her grown-out pixie — but the slicked-back style really works for her.
She made the chop into a pixie in 2013 after explaining that her hair was fried from being overprocessed.
Months before making the big cut, Lawrence had cascading, light brown tresses, which made it even more shocking when she went for such a drastic and dramatic look.
But that wasn’t the darkest hair color she’s had. In 2012, she had chestnut brown locks and a completely different look.
And then there was the period in 2012 when she had blunt bangs and strawberry blond hair.
Before that, in 2010 when her career was just beginning to kick off, she really looked like the girl next door with these soft curls.
Short or long, dark or blonde, bangs or no bangs, it seems like Lawrence can rock any hairstyle.
What will she try next?

For TRP: I hate...
I hate intolerance, i hate hatred. I hate the over-complication of life that somehow allows individuals and groups alike to overlook common decency and ethical behaviour.
on a lighter note...
i hate obviously photoshopped and over processed photos that have no point to the photoshopping and/or processing. (if they have a point and are done cleverly, then okay!) :) this one is obviously (and deliberately) not done cleverly... does it annoy you?)
This is a horribly overprocessed photo and the background sucks, but it's some sort of about palm-of-the-hand sized siphonophore colony. Couldn't get focus on it, had to set the strobes to 'pinch' it (lighting from left and right, trying not to light background) and pre-focus on my hand, then use positioning to try and get it on the focal plane. Would love to try this sort of thing again shooting up into the blue, but at this point my dive buddy and the DM had left me far behind, so I had to play catchup. No allowance for art!
