I normally don't do HDR, I find it tacky and overprocessed looking. I do, however, recognize the need for it in situations where you cannot control the light levels, such as a hockey arena. This is one of the only reasons I still shoot film...the dynamic range on prosumer digital bodies is just not up to snuff. I hate doing post processing for another thing. I tried bouncing some flash off of the white roof above, but no dice.
Anyways, this was a placeholder for the setting that my sister interviewed a Zamboni driver in. You can see them, a goal, and the Zamboni at center ice, and if you look *too* closely, you can see ghosting on them from the multiple shots. This is the highest row in the whole place.
Tonemapped in Photomatix for Aperture, 3 exposures. No clue what the settings were, I was trying to go for the most natural look...not sure if that's what I got.
Broadway Tower is a folly located on Broadway Hill, one mile (1.6 km) south-east of the village of Broadway, Worcestershire, England, at the second highest point of the Cotswolds after Cleeve Hill. Broadway Tower's base is 1,024 feet (312 metres) above sea level. The tower itself stands 55 feet (17 metres) high. Today, it is a tourist attraction with various exhibitions open to the public.
The "Saxon" tower was designed by James Wyatt in 1794 to resemble a mock castle, and built for Lady Coventry in 1799. The tower was built on a "beacon" hill, where beacons were lit on special occasions. Lady Coventry wondered if a beacon on this hill could be seen from her house in Worcester - approximately 22 miles (35 km) away - and sponsored the construction of the folly to find out. The beacon could be seen clearly.
Over the years, the tower was home to the printing press of Sir Thomas Phillipps, and served as a country retreat for artists including William Morris.
The tower is on the Cotswold Way; it is easily reached by following the Cotswold Way, or by a steep climb out of Broadway village.
This version is clearly overprocessed, but I still love it anyway.
Been a bad week for photo a day so I'm having a bit of a cheat as I'm pleased with a few of the photos I took over the easter weekend.
On Easter Sunday, Perranporth was very busy with people, kites, dogs and hangliders (to follow).
Overprocessed and out there via Gimp.
You can see a scar in this one,
and I liked the over-processed aspect.
I'd like to apologize to all the people I know in reality who happened to see this photo. heh.

Sitting. Waiting. Wishing. For a child to come sit on me. I swing slowly in a light sea breeze. Sitting idle i can only imagine the feeling of a child sitting down, gripping tight to my chains and pumping. Swinging, pushing me higher and higher. Until I feel like I can fly! I am as free as a bird, i flow through the air swiftly creating my own breeze this time. Its exhilarating, but alas the time is short. Sooner then i would wish the mother calls, the child slows. With a quick stomp of the foot in the sand i am jolted to a stop. The time is done. And I return to my resting state. Dreaming of the next time I will take flight.
In 8th grade we had a writing assignment, a workshop kind of. The teacher all gave us an item in the room, we had to write from its perspective. Just a short exercise. Then we had to pick our own item, and tell the day in a life of. I chose the clock. It was fun to do.
Today we went to Branford, visited my friend Sonia, went to the beach and these little guys were just sitting there. They looked lonely and i liked their shadows, so i took a picture. :)
This started out as a rather lame image until I rescued it (or overprocessed it). I guess that depends on how you look at it!
I had an idea today and when I got home from work, experimented with my iPhone. Unfortunately, the experiment didn't work out like I thought it would.
This was the Plan B shot since the ingredients for chili were calling my name and I had to get started.
My vegan chili turned out absolutely fantastic! And I added a secret ingredient shared with me by a good, chili-lovin' friend. It was a lot of work, but totally worth all the chopping!
Have a good night and a great day tomorrow!!

Taken from the same spot as an earlier HDR'd image of the sunset, this one was more dramatic with the clouds and the bright orange sun. Obviously has been processed, the look I was going for here was something that bordered on the surreal to help convey how dramatic the scene really was. There is always a personal preference issue when it comes to things like this - some love the processing, some don't, some think it is overprocessed. I welcome any and all opinions and comments.
This image was already up - somehow deleted from my photostream so if you commented before and don't see the comment now, that's what happened.
This is an example of an image made using the technique I described in my thread in the "How to HDR" group.

Yet another HDR for the Bahrain World Trad Center. I know some of you will say "overprocessed" but I don't like very realistic HDRs. Who needs reality anyway?
Overprocessed so you can see the island. It was a beautiful clear day with a neat mist. I just don't use a good landscape camera/lens combo.

Early in June 2018, I set out on a street photography session equipped only with a Canon Powershot a495 - a crappy £30 point and shoot from 2010, which was the first camera I ever owned. This was the best image from that session. I like to think that this image goes to show that gear doesn’t matter - it’s about you, the photographer. Cut out all the bokeh, the overprocessing and gimmicks - and see what can you create when all you’ve got is a crappy camera.

same source photo as this, just processed differently. this one seems so overdone, which is why i went with the first one originally, but i cant stop thinking about it. so, i decided that there is no good reason to not put this one up too, so here it is.
This work resembles a silkscreen; the overprocessing was done on the entire file at once using iPhoto's built-in editing tools.
Arhchitecture that resembles Greco-Roman, or the German, Third-Reich neo-classical fascist architecture that increased the already-monumental scale to one that dwarfed all humanity. I'm not sure what these structures are, but they're in a highly industrial area near shipping and receiving ports and two operational power plants.
The processing was kind of for fun, but these look fantastic as prints, on both glossy and toothy paper.

after seeing the colors of the slides @reteris posts here i have gone down a rabbit hole and these are totally overprocessed
The road down from Grandfather mountain is just as beautiful as the summit. Was able to stop and snap a few pix, the lighting was a bit harsh so this may be a little overprocessed.
Long story short, I mistakenly took the husband in search of worms. We came home with a kilo of chocolate (with popping candy, jelly beans and some other alternate sugar candy embedded in it) a can of pop each and a couple bags of gummy worms… the corner store carries gummy worms from Spain. What's up with that? I think this is a sugar high. I'm way over my calorie limit! And i haven't had this much sugar in months!!!
Overprocessing this photo may or may not have been the highlight of my day so far.
THis photo is brought to you by The Hereios who saved me from a boring I've Got Nothing arms-length iPhone selfie.
It's global worming.

Went for a lunchtime walk around Worsbrough Reservoir and spotted the lighting on this stonework on the way back. I may have overprocessed it, I was going for a vintage jigsaw type look.
More from the Mercedes SLR Shoot yesterday.
Think i may have overprocessed this one. Opinions are welcome
.
I notice that this is a little overprocessed, okay, a lot overprocessed. But I don't want to dissapoint you so I'm going to upload a few more later so that you can actually see this amazing dress one of my friends let me borrow!
Did you know that pita crackers covered with melted mozzarella cheese, olive oil with italian spices, and fresh, ripe tomatoes, makes a very, very delicious dinner? =D
