We shall overcome,
We shall overcome,
We shall overcome, some day.
Oh, deep in my heart,
I do believe
We shall overcome, some day.
We'll walk hand in hand,
We'll walk hand in hand,
We'll walk hand in hand, some day.
Oh, deep in my heart,
We shall live in peace,

'Let light shine out of darkness", part of 2 Corinthians 4:6
My life trapped in between
A whisper and a scream
A suicide machine of my own making
You let it kill my brain
Like needles in my veins
Consumed in your own embrace
There's no escaping
My fix is the misery
Won't stop till the end of me
I can't feel anything
Killing me one breath at a time
Caught in your web I'm paralyzed
So go on and lay me down to rest
You make it painless, painless
I can't, I can't, I can't
I can't feel any pain
I can't, I can't, I can't
I wish for a year of 2021 full of positive energy, overcoming all these current adversities.

It expresses my feelings of determination that we shall overcome this Coronavirus pandemic, it is not easy now and will not be easy in the near future but with the will to band together with love we can overcome and move on. We are strong and must be patient while our scientists find a solution, we owe it to our children and grandchildren. Sending loving thoughts and friendship to you all.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
We traveled to Sequoia National Park in winter. It's a challenging time to visit this location, even when there isn't a federal government shutdown reducing the staff to only the essential rangers required for safety.
Unfortunately, though near the entrance the skies were relatively clear, and the temperatures were in the 50s, the conditions at elevation were thick fog with ice covered roads. Worse, many people were taking advantage of the free entry to the park and ignoring the posted signs for snow chains. So, getting to the Sequoia groves proved impossible, and we returned to our hotel, but not before seeing these beautiful gnarled old oak trees near the entrance in the soft warm setting sunlight.
Visit Sequoia National Park; but, be advised, winter travel can be difficult, and give the rangers their due - especially when they are working at skeleton levels with no pay during a government shutdown!

#Sound
For "Sound" it had to be my violin. If I don't play it (and I know I should, but, oh dear, the overcoming!), I can at least honour it with a bit of Flickr sunshine from time to time. Maybe I should work on my "scratch resitance" (sound-wise), it might help me to get over the first caterwauling hours of exercise after so many years of not practicing ;-)
This, you've guessed it, is a small part of the F hole, about 2 cm / 0,78 inches wide. I decided to go for a slightly more "obscure", kind of vague low key look with a very shallow DOF, because when it comes to music, sound in general, it often is not very clear at all why we like a song, a specific sound, or why we positively hate it. Sound, music moves us, either way.
I have a busy day today, so I can only stop by here today occasionally, I hope to catch up with you later! HMM, Everyone, and have a nice and safe week ahead!

What I've Overcome -Fireflight
Gracias a todos por vuestras visitas y comentarios.
Thank you all for your visits and comments.
What happens when you get two days off in the middle of the week? Your rewarded with cold, gray, and overcast days. I went to a local lake thinking I would shoot some long exposures with these dead trees sticking out of the water but it turned out that the water was so still that all I needed to do was compose the image.
I found this area with some rocks above the water and played around with it. I ended up lightening up the foreground rocks to add an element to the viewer. Not sure if it works well or not but it was the best capture of the day. As always, thank you so much for viewing my images and commenting when you see fit. Take care.

Even the darkest night is gonna end. The longest night won't last forever. Dense mist will be blown away. Light is stronger than darkness.
Recent winter was not much cold. But at some moments cold seemed too strong. Like here. And finally the spring comes.
Thank you for all the comments and faves, dear friends.
One day you struggle, and I come to your aid.
The next day I struggle; your friendship never fades.
Life challenges never end.
It's how we choose to deal with them, my friend.
We can overcome together in any kind of weather.
We can celebrate life through the strife.
The chains of bondage were meant to be broken.
A chord of three once thought is now spoken.
Keep shining your light and I will shine mine.
Abandoned things will heal over time.
Thank you for your kind favs and comments. I pray you all have that one rare friend that sticks it out with you to the very end.

“It's okay to disagree with the thoughts or opinions expressed by other people.
That doesn't give you the right to deny any sense they might make.
Nor does it give you a right to accuse someone of poorly expressing their beliefs
just because you don't like what they are saying.

even if it means overcoming your pride

Definition of We Shall Overcome from the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary
We Shall Overcome

a song used during the civil rights movement by African Americans and their supporters to show that they intended to overcome prejudice and segregation. Mahalia Jackson often sang it at their meetings. It was originally a song, and includes the lines:
"Deep in my heart, I do believe
We shall overcome some day."
Mahalia Jackson---We Shall Overcome
We shall overcome, we shall overcome,
We shall overcome someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.
The Lord will see us through, The Lord will see us through,
The Lord will see us through someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.
We're on to victory, We're on to victory,
We're on to victory someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We're on to victory someday.
We'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand,
We'll walk hand in hand someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We'll walk hand in hand someday.
We are not afraid, we are not afraid,
We are not afraid today;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We are not afraid today.
The truth shall make us free, the truth shall make us free,
The truth shall make us free someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
The truth shall make us free someday.
We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace,
We shall live in peace someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall live in peace someday.

A small bridge over the river Our near Vianden. The river flows along the border of Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg.
A trip with the Brohltalbahn is more than just a train ride. It is pure everyday deceleration, a real technology and nature experience. It allows you to experience the Laacher See volcanic region with its unique volcanic landscape up close and gives you a feeling for the "effort" it takes for the locomotives to overcome around 400 meters in altitude between the Rhine and the Eifel.
The Humboldt-Type M.105 steam locomotive is a four-axle meter-gauge Mallet locomotive that was built by the Humboldt Mechanical Engineering Company in Cologne Brohltal-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (BEG) in 1906.
The past few weeks, I had this crazy idea. I was wondering if it would be feasible to make a quick trip overnight to Cape Tenaro, 335kms away from Athens, to take a photo of the Milky Way from the lighthouse of Tenaro and then a quick stop 70kms away at Selinitsa's Valtaki beach, just outside Gythio, to get me a Milky Way photo of the Dimitrios shipwreck that same evening. Maybe even one more from the Lighthouse in Gythio if there was enough time before sunrise and if it were possible. Cape Tenaro, also known as Cape Matapan, is situated at the end of the Mani Peninsula, in Greece.It is the southernmost point of mainland Greece, and the second southernmost point in mainland Europe. It separates the Messenian Gulf in the west from the Laconian Gulf in the east where Gythio and the Dimitrios shipwreck are located. Cape Tenaro has been an important place for thousands of years. The tip of Cape Tenaro was the site of the ancient town Tenarus, near which there was (and still is) a cave that Greek legends claim was the home of Hades, the god of the dead. The ancient Spartans built several temples there, dedicated to various gods. On the hill situated above the cave, lie the remnants of an ancient temple dedicated to the sea god Poseidon. Under the Byzantine Empire, the temple was converted into a Christian church, and Christian rites are conducted there to this day.
Finally, I decided that the perfect time would never come and the best time would be Now. So on a Saturday, late at noon, around 1 o'clock, and although I knew it would be a moonlit night for the most part, we left Athens heading down to Tainaro, accepting the challenge. I had been there once, some 15 years ago, and I knew it wouldn't be like a walk in the park from the moment I'd leave the car. But the truth is that I wouldn't know at that time how rough it could get. For those who have not been there, after reaching the end of the road, there is a 40-45 minutes walk through a narrow path through rough rocky soil, with shrubs and thistles for the most part, until the far end, where the lighthouse stands.
When we arrived, I left my better half and a friend in a coffee shop which luckily was open late in the evening and I walked down the pathway in the dark. It took me no more than a minute or two to lose the path. I wasn't expecting to get lost so soon but I would not give up that easily. I was looking for the path with my flashlight, while walking through the shrubs and thistles into the general direction of the lighthouse, which still I could not see from where I was. There were times when I was stumbling on the rocks and was losing height on a slope that eventually were ending in the sea. Halfway I was exhausted trying to climb upwards, over the ridge. I already had a few bruises and my legs were scratched by the thorny bushes. Those thorns were passing through the jeans as if it weren't there. I was already tired and thought I'd stop for a moment to catch my breath. It was at that moment that I realized I had forgotten the water back in the car. I was hurting all over and I knew I would not find the path in the dark, so the thought of going back crossed my mind. But my stubbornness kicked in and I decided I'd keep on going, even though I was almost out of breath. Going upwards, I finally saw the lighthouse from afar. I opened up my step and went on. Just before I get there, there was this one last difficulty I should overcome. I was on the wrong side of the hill, therefore I had to go over the ridge to get on the other side, so I could access the rocks that would lead me to the lighthouse. I gathered all the strength I had left. Step after step, up the slope, over the ridge, drop in on the other side. Last steps, last breaths and...
There it was! The lighthouse was in front of me in all its majesty! What a spectacular view! Instantly I forgot the fatigue, the thirst, the pain, the thorns and the steep rocks, I forgot everything. Jumping from rock to rock, I reached right in front of the building. For a moment I stood there in total awe. In the silence and darkness, the Lighthouse was the King! Without even realizing it, unconsciously I had deployed the tripod already. I put my camera on it, got my settings dialed in and clicked...
Twenty five seconds later, I knew... I had done it. I had won the bet I had with myself. There, alone, yet feeling like on top of the world, for I knew I've pushed my limits that night and had made it through. Alone in the silence of the night under the starry sky. Lost in my thoughts and feelings. Lost in emotions. Lost in the moment. At that point, I swear I was like a child who had won all the first prizes in the world! And for that moment everything seemed possible. Impossible was nothing but a word. What a moment! What a feeling! So there I was, standing at the edge, looking at the big blue. Where the Earth meets the Sea and the Sky, in the middle of the night, with the stars over my head and the moon on my back just before it would set, I would find myself, feeling free, once again. Photography is...

I'll overcome
Silent songs I'll be humming on
'Til you sing along
Come as you are, ignited
Some lights are a different kind
Never burning out
Do you ever wonder what it's like
Losing what you cannot be without?
I'll keep running
I'll try
I'll overcome
Fading stars echo
Reminding us they know
We've come too far to let go
Don't let go
