Still working with the new Orbis ring flash. This time using the Canon 55-250 lens. This anole was a pretty good sport, even displaying his flair for me temporarily.

This was my first try at using my new Orbis ring flash. You can see the flash reflected in the droplets. What I learned was that at the moment it feels like I need another 2 hands to hold everything... that or some radio triggers.

I caught some flak for my last self-portrait not meeting folks’ expectations. If you haven’t already guessed, self-portraits take me out of my comfort zone. I’m really out there with this one. I’m more comfortable behind the camera.
I shot this with the D300+battery pack+SB-600+SC-29 cord+Orbis ring flash all over my head. That stuff got heavy after a few minutes. I was using the 18-200 at 18mm. Using the wide-angle lens at arm’s length exaggerates my nose, chin, cheeks and forehead. Actually, it exaggerates my whole head.
