So this photo happened entirely by accident. I was actually planning a super-HAPPY photo today, and put the whiskey bottle on the table as something to use to get the camera focus right. The photo was underexposed and dark, and ended up looking kinda cool. So I ran with it.
The bottle+phone are lightpainted with many many strobe flashes, hence all the cool highlights :)
I might do something happy tomorrow. Had enough of the dark and moody (for now!)

When we were discussing options for this year's autumn hiking adventure, it almost seemed like there was nothing left in northern Scandinavia that we all still wanted to explore. However, after some discussions, we realized that Finnish Lapland might be an interesting and convenient location for our regular autumn outdoor pursuits.
After conducting some research and planning, we narrowed our focus to Finland's northwest, bordering Sweden and Norway. More specifically, we honed in on the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, which happens to be the second-largest wilderness area in Finland.

Käsivarsi is somewhat atypical for Finland due to its higher elevation (Finland's highest peak, Halti (1,324m), is located in its northern tip), rugged terrain, and limited wooded areas. This combination sounded particularly attractive to us because it meant we would hike across various types of landscapes, both on and off marked trails.
Our itinerary was as follows: Kilpisjärvi/Saana mountain -> Tshahkaljärvi lake -> Siktagurajohka river -> Meekonjärvi lake including trip to Pitsusköngäs waterfall -> Porojärvi lake including ascent of Saivaara cliff -> Guhturgurajávri/Termisjärvi lakes -> Ailakkajärvi lake -> Kilpisjärvi.

This was my 2nd option to see 66656 6Z53 1243 Portbury Automotive Terml to Margam T.C. My first choice was at Pill, but it was running late and i needed to be elsewhere and should it move , Pilning was my 2nd option.

The sky was showing some potential so I gave chase out to Cylon. It wasn't exactly what I imagined but with the sun on the horizon enough glint happened and I rather like the dark purple cloud deck. From the Washington Trails Association:
A nice creekside hike within the Olympics with an option to check out Marymere Falls. This hike has all types of old growth and lush vegetation.
Most hikers follow Barnes Creek towards Lake Crescent Lodge, but at the junction you will turn left to follow the creek. Soon enough you will come to another junction where you have the option to check out the heavily visited Marymere Falls. This is a popular portion of the trail where most people will be heading. Take a right to stop and check it out if you are interested, otherwise continue onward for Barnes Creek.
Continuing onward, the trail has a much different feeling, as it quickly becomes less crowded.
The trail rolls mostly up and rarely down over the next 5.5 miles. Despite being unmaintained, it is in relatively good condition.
The trail fords four creeks and numerous seeps. While the first is unnamed, the following three creeks are Lizard Head Creek, Happy Lake Creek, and Barnes Creek. The mossy trail winds its way through old growth Douglas fir and western hemlock forests. Younger stands show evidence of the valley's fire history.
In spring, watch out for bunchberry blooms and starflowers peppering the mossy forest floor. In summer, pipsissewa bloom profusely next to wild huckleberries and blueberries. In the fall, creekside vine maples paint ochre hues into the verdant landscape.
For those wishing to camp, potential sites are just below the start of this trail at Dismal Draw, 3.5 miles up lower Barnes Creek and next to Happy Lake Creek, 2.9 miles past the Aurora Divide intersection.
After 5.2 miles and 3300 feet of climbing, the trail peters out in a dark stand of stunted western hemlock on the ridge top. Just before reaching this terminus, the trail forks, leading steeply up to the left. Take this trail another half mile up to the top of Lookout Dome.
The trail winds around the backside and up to the top of the dome, where the intrepid hiker can enjoy cliffside views of the Hughes Creek valley sprawling below. Baldy Ridge extends rocky and cliff-faced to the North, the Elwha River meanders far below, and behind, to the West, one can see the Barnes Creek watershed draining down toward a glimpse of Lake Crescent through the trees.
It's possible to day hike this trail from Storm King Ranger station to the top and back but, at around 20 miles round trip, this trail is much more doable as an overnight backpacking trip.

Severe/Tornado Warned Storm between Liberty - Tuxford SK Canada
Insane storm structure as I stood near North Grove looking West
This day’s forecasting was a challenge! I was seeing a couple different options. One being Weyburn and South (which ended up having a nice storm and dropped a Tornado) and another setup around Raymore. I chose Raymore region and away I went.
Sat in crazy muggy 30+ Degree heat while waiting, and waiting and waiting.
Boundaries forming all over, including my spot! Line of clouds would form and then die off. Form and then die off, over and over again.
Nothing was happening.
The Storms South of Weyburn began to fire up. My side .... still nothing.
Finally, around 5 pm North of Lucky Lake (to my West) a storm began to form on Radar. I waiting to see what direction it was taking and also was cautious of “jumping the gun” aka heading to the storm and missing a storm at my spot.
I let it run a few radar scans and then away I went!
Around 6:30 pm it was looking insane on radar as I was right around Liberty trying to get more South as it was moving straight East at me, and it sucks trying to get storm photos when you are cored in hail and rain and can’t see anything haha.
7 pm, I was heading towards Craik as photos on twitter began to pop up of the beautiful storm structure happening between Grainland, Central Butte &Tugaske (also showing rotation on radar).
7:15 pm I was still working my way South while also trying NOT to get cored in this system as I made my way towards Chamberlain.
7:37 pm I was near North Grove looking West at some INSANE storm structure !!!!
After enjoying that for some time, blasted further South to not get stuck within the core.
I headed towards Tuxford where around 8 pm I found myself in front on an angry lowering with my anemometer clocking wind speeds from 110 - 121 km !!!!
From there, I was too far back to ever catch up to the storm that now is just moving, so sat back and watched the beautiful system from the back end as it made it’s way East towards Manitoba.
What a hell of a beautiful chase day!!!

Saturday, the next day after Mary and Steve met at the bar and later hung out at Steve's apartment both of them were thinking they wanted to get back together.
