Compare this Willow Warbler with the one I posted yesterday which is a normal Spring Willow Warbler. This one I found on the patch at the same time ,its the palest Willow Warbler I think ive ever seen there are 3 possibilities really, and none are easy to determine. I have consulted an expert on the subject and the answer isn't clear. There is a possibility its a Northern race bird (Acredula) but this bird is paler than those , then it could be the Eastern Race (Yakutensis) which would be very rare but unfortunately there is also crossover between races. The other option and probably most likely , is its the normal race Willow Warbler (trochilus) but for some abnormal reason it has not moulted at all,in the winter and the plumage is so worn it has become almost washed out , as the feathers do look worn . Normal Spring Willow Warblers are prestine green and yellow which as you can see this bird isn't at all , so which race cannot from pictures be totally determined , but whatever it was it was a smart unusual Willow Warbler , like none ive seen before really, in 50 years of birding,also when it tried to sing , it was nothing like a Willow Warbler so possibly a 2nd cy bird that even has a aberant song.
Two options this morning. Go out for a walk in the fog or go out in the monsoon this afternoon. I chose fog.

Each month I take a favourite photo from ten years back, and re-edit it, using current tools and knowledge.
This one is a bit different. I just wanted to clarify things a little, so that the details were more apparent. The current tools made that much easier, and I quite like the result.
Unlike my usual drive-by shooting, I'm quite familiar with this place. It was my grandfather's farmhouse, and we used to visit frequently as kids, before we moved too far away. RIP, Grandad.

Another option for short Douro River cruise at Porto is a Rabelo style boat, like this one.
The Rabelo traditional vessel was used until the Mid-twentieth century to transport Port wine from the Upper Douro Valley producers to Gaia wine lodges.
As a mountain riverboat, the Rabelo has no keel, is flat-bottomed and measures between 19 and 23 meters long.
The background buildings are the Porto side of the Douro River.

This little Carolina Chickadee sat perched on the rosebush branch taking in the different feeders, trying to decide which had the most promise? Which had the best treat? And which had the least visitors?
Granted there may have lots of other factors to take in, which was the driest, the closest, the fullest, etc.
It was a rainy, overcast and windy afternoon, so while he perched there trying to make up his mind, I was able to grab a few shots through the branches before he flew off.

I've often received requests to release the Flying Whale's tree separately. This tree is not the same but I tried to make it with the similar atmosphere as much as possible :)
They have thin branches compared to my other trees and some of them are shaped in such a way that small birds and animals can easily perch on the branches, as shown in the image.
This product has a significantly specification change from the previous plants.
The set does not include a HUD, and instead, it is now possible to make batch settings from the tree's dialog. In the dialog option [AreaOfEffect], you can select the area to change at a time. When we were discussing options for this year's autumn hiking adventure, it almost seemed like there was nothing left in northern Scandinavia that we all still wanted to explore. However, after some discussions, we realized that Finnish Lapland might be an interesting and convenient location for our regular autumn outdoor pursuits.
After conducting some research and planning, we narrowed our focus to Finland's northwest, bordering Sweden and Norway. More specifically, we honed in on the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, which happens to be the second-largest wilderness area in Finland.

Käsivarsi is somewhat atypical for Finland due to its higher elevation (Finland's highest peak, Halti (1,324m), is located in its northern tip), rugged terrain, and limited wooded areas. This combination sounded particularly attractive to us because it meant we would hike across various types of landscapes, both on and off marked trails.
Our itinerary was as follows: Kilpisjärvi/Saana mountain -> Tshahkaljärvi lake -> Siktagurajohka river -> Meekonjärvi lake including trip to Pitsusköngäs waterfall -> Porojärvi lake including ascent of Saivaara cliff -> Guhturgurajávri/Termisjärvi lakes -> Ailakkajärvi lake -> Kilpisjärvi.
On the right the club we went to on the first evening, on the left the one we whashed up at on the second. Just scratched the surface.

Whenever we visit the gorgeous Sequoia National Park, Moro Rock trail is a must-visit location. During our first visit to the park, we stopped at the trail just after sunrise and had the whole place to ourselves, and I thought the location to be stunning but a bit difficult to photograph. To the uninitiated, Moro rock is a narrow, tall granite protrusion from the cliff, And when I say narrow, it is razor-thin and high, making it a quite nervous hike.
While Moro Rock's view can be spectacular, it often has quite a bit of haze, even during sunrise. I have never shot from this location after a rainstorm, but I hope to get a clearer view. On my first visit itself, I felt like the rock formation's dramatic nature is the story I want to tell through my images. The classic expansive landscape shot is not an option due to the thick forest cover. After taking the traditional viewpoint shots from Moro Rock, I tried my luck on capturing the steep and precarious nature of the rail to the top of Moro Rock in a series of images. For this image, I caught a part of the trail disappearing between the rock's cracks with the distant mountain peaks in the distance. It was quite a bit of a challenge for people with the fear of heights, and we often saw fellow hikers sit down and take a breather from the trail's dizzying nature. Please let me know if the intent for this image came through.
Lots of options for water molecules going over the falls. The base of spring fed Janee Falls one of the tributaries of Swift Creek, Lincoln County, Wyoming.
From the Washington Trails Association:
A nice creekside hike within the Olympics with an option to check out Marymere Falls. This hike has all types of old growth and lush vegetation.
Most hikers follow Barnes Creek towards Lake Crescent Lodge, but at the junction you will turn left to follow the creek. Soon enough you will come to another junction where you have the option to check out the heavily visited Marymere Falls. This is a popular portion of the trail where most people will be heading. Take a right to stop and check it out if you are interested, otherwise continue onward for Barnes Creek.
Continuing onward, the trail has a much different feeling, as it quickly becomes less crowded.
The trail rolls mostly up and rarely down over the next 5.5 miles. Despite being unmaintained, it is in relatively good condition.
The trail fords four creeks and numerous seeps. While the first is unnamed, the following three creeks are Lizard Head Creek, Happy Lake Creek, and Barnes Creek. The mossy trail winds its way through old growth Douglas fir and western hemlock forests. Younger stands show evidence of the valley's fire history.
In spring, watch out for bunchberry blooms and starflowers peppering the mossy forest floor. In summer, pipsissewa bloom profusely next to wild huckleberries and blueberries. In the fall, creekside vine maples paint ochre hues into the verdant landscape.
For those wishing to camp, potential sites are just below the start of this trail at Dismal Draw, 3.5 miles up lower Barnes Creek and next to Happy Lake Creek, 2.9 miles past the Aurora Divide intersection.
After 5.2 miles and 3300 feet of climbing, the trail peters out in a dark stand of stunted western hemlock on the ridge top. Just before reaching this terminus, the trail forks, leading steeply up to the left. Take this trail another half mile up to the top of Lookout Dome.
The trail winds around the backside and up to the top of the dome, where the intrepid hiker can enjoy cliffside views of the Hughes Creek valley sprawling below. Baldy Ridge extends rocky and cliff-faced to the North, the Elwha River meanders far below, and behind, to the West, one can see the Barnes Creek watershed draining down toward a glimpse of Lake Crescent through the trees.
It's possible to day hike this trail from Storm King Ranger station to the top and back but, at around 20 miles round trip, this trail is much more doable as an overnight backpacking trip.
